THIS IS A FAITHFUL SAYING - 2 Tim 2: Baptism is Essential to Salvation

Transcription:

"TRUTH" Truth is conformity to fact or reality. God is truth. His Word is truth. We must accept Him and His Word by Faith, nothing doubting and nothing gainsaying. Moreover we are to reflect that truth in our own lives by walking uprightly in the truth of God and His Word. THE TRUTH Just open the door - The truth is waiting for you! "For the word of the Lord is right and all his works are done in truth." -Psa. 33:4 "As for God his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is tried; he is a buckler to all them that trust in him." -II Sam. 22:31 "Sanctify them through thy TRUTH Thy Word is Truth." John 7:17-2-

We believe you are a seeker of truth, dear reader, and to you this message is sent, that you may search out of the Book of the Lord and read, thus learning first hand the wonderful truths of the greatest writing on earth-the Holy Bible. May you, dear reader, as you compare your Bible with this tract, remember that God's Word, and His Word alone, will judge you in the last day. Those who teach contrary to God's Word are worshipping the Lord unavailingly; for Jesus hath said, "In vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." -Matt. 15:7,8; and again in an other place He warned all saying, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." -Matt. 7:7, 21. Christendom is divided into hundreds of sects, creeds, and bodies, teaching various doctrines, the one differing from the other, but many points agreeing in that which contradicts the Bible, which the Lord says is truth. However, that which agrees with God's Word is true, all other is error, even as the prophet hath said: "To the law and to the testimony: If they speak not according to this word (the Scriptures), it is because there is no light in them." -Isa. 8:20. A few of the many doctrines of men which contradict the Word of God, are given briefly following, as taught by the Roman Catholic church and by the Protestant churches. Compare them with your Bible. Scriptures do not express God's complete will to man; but your Bible says: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable...that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." -II Tim. 3:16, 17; Galatians 1:8,9. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three distinct persons in one God-head: yet your Bible says that Jesus declared: "My Father is greater than I." and "I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world and go to the Father," and "I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter...even the Spirits of truth." -John 14:28; 16:28; 14:16. Many churches teach that it is not necessary to seek for the fulness of the Holy Spirit; but your Bible says: "Be ye filled with the Spirit." -Eph. 5:18; Rom. 8:1-14. Many churches teach that manmade names will do for the Christian church; but your Bible says twelve times the Holy Spirit gave the body the inspired name "Church of God." Acts 20:28; I Cor. 1:2; 10:32; 11:16, 22; 15:9; II Cor. 1:1; Gal. 1:13; I Thess. 2:14; II Thess. 1:4; I Tim. 3:5; 3:15. Many churches teach that any organization with any kind of offices is good enough for God's Church; but your Bible says: "God hath set some in the Church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues." -I Cor. 12:28; Eph. 4:11. law of tithing is not a continued obligation upon Christians; but your Bible says: "All the tithe...is the Lord's: it is holy unto the Lord." -Lev. 27:30, 32; Gen. 14:20; Heb. 7:5-9; Matt. 23:23. Many churches teach that all creatures are now fit for food but your Bible says: "Ye shall therefore put difference between unclean fowls and clean; and ye shall not make your souls abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean." -Lev. 20:25; Lev. 11:1-27; Deut. 14th chapter; Isa. 65:2-6; 66:15-17; II Cor. 6:17-18; I Cor. 10:31. -3- -4- -5-

Many churches teach man hath an immortal soul, which never dies, but your Bible says: "The King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God"..."The blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of Lords...only hath immortality"; but at the resurrection (and not before,) shall the righteous be changed, and "this mortal must put on immortality." -I Tim. 1:17; 6:15, 16; I Cor. 15:53. Many churches teach that in death man is more alive than ever; but your Bible says: "The living know that they shall die; but the dead know not anything." -Eccl. 9:5; Ps. 146:4. Many churches teach that man is judged at death; but your Bible says: "The Lord Jesus Christ shall judge the quick (living) and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom." -II Tim. 4:1. Many churches teach that both the righteous and the wicked are given their reward at death; but your Bible says: All that are in their graves shall hear his (Christ's) voice, and come forth; they that have done good unto the resurrection of life: and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation." -John 5:28. Many churches teach that at death the righteous enter heaven, and the wicked enter hell, or purgatory; but your Bible says: "All go unto one place." -Eccl. 3:20; Ps. 49:14. penalty for sin is an eternal life of conscious torment; but your Bible says: "The wages of sin is death"..."the soul that sinneth, it shall die." -Rom. 6:23; Ezek. 18:4. sinner is punished with everlasting torment in a burning hell; but your Bible says: They "shall be punished with everlasting destruction."..."the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away."..."they shall be as though they had not been." -II Thess. 1:9; Ps. 37:20, 10; Mal. 4:1, 3; Oba. 1:16. righteous are rewarded in heaven and the wicked in hell; but your Bible says: "Behold the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner." -Prov. 11:31. saints keep the faith of Jesus but need not obey the commandments of God; but your Bible says: "Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus." -Rev. 14:12; 12:17; Rev. 22:14. may love and worship God, yet not keep the law of God; but your Bible says: "He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him"..."for this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous." -I John 2:4; 5:3. first day of the week (Sunday) is the Sabbath; but your Bible says: "The seventh day (Saturday) is the sabbath of the Lord thy God; in it thou shalt not do any work." -Ex. 20:10; 16:26. Many churches teach that Sunday has been blessed and made holy; but your Bible says: "God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it."..."six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death." -Gen. 2:3; Ex. 31:15. Many churches teach that after the cross the disciples of Christ did not regard the seventh day, but observed Sunday as a day of rest; but your Bible says: "The women... beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid,...and rested the Sabbath Day, according to the commandment." -Luke 23:56; Ex. 20:8-10; Acts 13:14, 42, 44; 16:13; 17:2; 18:4. Many churches teach that Christ -6- -7- -8-

was crucified and buried on Good Friday; History tells us that it could not have been on a Friday. Jesus died on the 14th Day of the First month which was the date of the Passover when the death angel passed over the house sprinkled with blood. Ex. 12: 12-14. The blood that saved Israel was a type and shadow of the precious blood of Jesus. "Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us." I Cor. 5:7. The 14th day of the first month is always on a full moon. Jesus died on a Wednesday the 14th day of the first month, the 15th Day was a high day Sabbath, the 16th day was the day of preparation, before the Sabbath of the Ten Commandments. John 19:14, 31; Luke 23:55, 56. Jesus said that He would be three days and three nights in the tomb. Matt. 12:38 to 40. From a Friday crucifixion to a Monday morning resurrection you cannot get three days and three nights (72 Hours). Therefore it is utterly impossible for Jesus to have been crucified on Good Friday and Resurrected on Easter Sunday. Both days are pagan holydays and are not Scriptural. Many churches teach that Christ was in the tomb only from Friday evening to Sunday morning, two nights and one day; but your Bible says: "As Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." -Matt. 12:40. Many churches teach that Jesus arose from the grave on Easter Sunday morning; but your Bible says: "In the end of the Sabbath (Saturday)... there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it,... and the angel answered and said unto the women, He is not here; for he is risen." -Matt. 28:1-6. may observe the Lord's Supper (Christ's Supper-I Cor. 5:7) more often than once a year, and upon any date; but your Bible says: "In the fourteeneth day of the first month (Nisan) even is the Lord's passover." -Lev. 23:5; Ex. 12:6, 14; I Cor. 11:23-28. Many churches teach that it is Scriptural to partake of the Lord's Supper in the morning, at breakfast time, or at noon, luncheon time, or at any hour of the day or night that suits their fancy; but your Bible says: "That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: and when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take eat: this is my body which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me." -I Cor. 11:23-26; Lev. 23:5. inheritance for the righteous is in heaven; but your Bible says: "The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein forever." Yes, "The meek shall inherit the earth." -Psa. 37:29; Matt. 5:5; Prov. 2:21. righteous are in heaven, where they praise the Lord; but your Bible says: "The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence." - Ps. 115:17; 6:5. righteous follow Jesus to heaven: but your Bible says that Jesus declared unto His disciples: "Whither I go, ye cannot come." -John 13:33; 3:13; John 7:34. Many churches teach that infants should be sprinkled; but your Bible says: "Repent and be baptized." -Acts 2:38; 16:31,33. Many churches teach that sprinkling, or pouring, is spiritual baptism; but your Bible says: "We are buried with him by baptism...planted together in the likeness of his death." - Rom. 6:3-5; Matt. 3:16, 17; John 3:23; Acts 8:36, 38. Law of God, the Ten Commandments, was imperfect, and was to con- -9- -10- -11-

tinue only to the cross; but your Bible says: "The law of the Lord is perfect"..."all his commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever and ever." -Ps. 19:7; 111:7,8. Many churches teach that Jesus came to change, or destroy the Law of God, and He did so, taking it out of the way; but your Bible says that Jesus said: "Think not that I am come to destroy,...but to fulfil...till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." -Matt. 5:17, 18. may break the Law of God and still be approved of God; but your Bible says: "Whosoever shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." -Matt. 5:19. may break a part of the law of God, and yet not sin; but your Bible says: "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." - I John 3:4. Also read James 2:10. may be justified from sin, being saved, without keeping all the commandments of God: but your Bible says: "Not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified,"..."being now justified by his blood." -Rom. 2:13; 5:9. Many churches teach that eternal life can be attained without keeping all of God's commandments: but your Bible says that Jesus declared: "If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments," and again, "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." -Matt. 19:17; Rev. 22:14. kingdom of heaven is spiritual, and is already functioning; but your Bibles says: "I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom." -II Tim. 4:1. reign of Jesus as king will not be on earth but in heaven; but your Bible says: "He (Jesus) shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his Father David (which was in Jerusalem)." -Luke 1:31; Isa. 9:6, 7. kingdom of heaven is a spiritual kingdom, and will not be established on the earth; but your Bible says: "The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdom of our Lord, and of His Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever." -Rev. 11:15. kingdom of God will be in heaven, and the saints will reign there; but your Bible says: "The kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High," and "we shall reign on the earth." -Dan. 7:27; Rev. 5:10. Roman church is the mother church, and the Protestant churches are her offspring daughters; and your Bible says: "Upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINA- TIONS OF THE EARTH." -Rev. 17:5; II Cor. 6:17, 18. In conclusion, dear reader, may we state that the above are but a few of the many teachings taught by many churches, and these teachings are of pagan origin, being adopted by the Roman church in the days of the great apostasy, and retained by the Protestants in the days of the Reformation. -12- -13- -14-

You have been warned: "The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears"..."who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake"..."such are ministers of Satan"..."From such turn away." -II Tim. 4:3, 4, 5; Tit. 1:9-11; II Cor. 11:13-15. Hear the voice from heaven inviting you, dear reader: "Come out of her (Babylon), my people." Accept God's invitation: "Come out from among them, and be ye separate saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." -II Cor. 6:17, 18. -15-
