MASS FOR IRELAND THE LAMB WILL CONQUER SATURDAY 25TH APRIL 2015 Celebrant Fr John Mockler SDS Preacher Fr Johnny Doherty CSSR Musical Director Thady O Connor For the protection of the sanctity of marriage, family and human life and for the people of Ireland at his time. They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with Him are called and chosen and faithful. Rev. 17:14 An Teaghlach Naofa www.anteaghlachnaofa.ie

AN TEAGHLACH NAOFA May the light of Christ, the light of faith, continue always to shine out from Ireland. May no darkness ever be able to extinguish it. St John Paul, 29th Sept 1979 There is a first class relic of St. John Paul on the altar today. St. John Paul, pray for us. A note from our musical director - When a congregation sings together in once voice, there is a vibrant joy created in the soul St. John Paul 2.P.M. THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS We offer up the stations of the cross in atonement for the sins of our nation. There will be a first class relic of the Holy Cross on the altar at mass today. 2.30 P.M. THE JOYFUL MYSTERIES Welcome to everyone who has joined us today, to unite in prayer for Ireland, on this our first pilgrimage to Knock Shrine. An Teaghlach Naofa (The Holy Family) is a prayer network for the protection of Ireland in these times. Our country is at war and we are fighting all the forces of hell. The devil wants to destroy the sanctity of life, marriage and families across Ireland. An Teaghlach Naofa is in honour of the Holy Family of Nazareth, Jesus, Mary and Joseph and under the patronage of St. John Paul who loved the people of Ireland so much. An Teaghlach Naofa seeks to link people of faith across all four Provinces to come together and unite in prayer and fasting for specific prayer intentions for Ireland. Pope Francis said recently, Let us not underestimate the power of so many voices united in prayer! Jesus, Mary and Joseph, Holy Family of Nazareth, enfold our families and our nation in your loving care. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, we love you, pray for us and our families and bring all of us to heaven. The joyful mysteries of the rosary for protection of human life, in procession. 3 P.M. HOLY MASS Today is the feast day of St. Mark The Evangelist Entrance Antiphon Go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature, Alleluia. Entrance Hymn How Great Thou Art O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made; I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art. Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee, How great Thou art, how great Thou art! When through the woods, and forest glades I wander, And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees

When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze. And when I think of God, His Son not sparing; Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in; That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin. When Christ shall come with shouts of acclamation And lead me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow with humble adoration, And then proclaim, My God, how great Thou art! Kyrie Kyrie eleison, Kyrie eleison Christe eleison, Christe eleison Kyrie eleislon, Kyrie eleson Gloria Response (sung) Gloria, Gloria, In excelsis Deo, Gloria, Gloria, In excelsis Deo. LITURGY OF THE WORD First reading A reading from the first Letter of St Peter (Peter 5:5-14) All wrap yourselves in humility to be servants of each other, because God refuses the proud and will always favour the humble. Bow down, then, before the power of God now, and He will raise you up on the appointed day; unload all worries on to him, since He is looking after you. Be calm but vigilant, because your enemy is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to eat. Stand up to him, strong in faith and in the knowledge that your brothers all over the world are suffering the same things. You will have to suffer only for a little while, the God of all grace who calls you to eternal glory in Christ will see that all is well again: he will confirm, strengthen and support you. His power lasts for ever and ever. Amen. I write these few words to you through Silvanus, who is a brother I know I can trust, to encourage you never to let go this true grace of God to which I bear witness. Your sister Babylon, who is with you among the chosen, sends you greetings, so does my son, Mark. Greet one another with a kiss of love. The Word of the Lord Responsorial Psalm (Ps. 88) I will sing forever of your love, O Lord I will sing forever of your love O Lord Through all the ages my mouth will proclaim your truth, Of this I am sure, that your love lasts forever, That your truth is firmly established as the heavens. The heavens proclaim your wonders O Lord, The assembly of your holy ones proclaims your truth, For who in the skies can compare with the Lord, Or who is like the Lord among the sons of God. Happy the people who acclaim such a king, Who walk, O Lord, in the light of your face, Who find their joy every day in your name, Who make your justice the source of their bliss. Gospel Acclamation Alleluia, Alleuia We are preaching a crucified Christ, who is the power and the wisdom of God. Alleluia, Alleluia Gospel (Mark 16:15-20) A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Mark Jesus, said to the eleven: Go out to the whole world; proclaim the Good News to all creation. He who believes and is baptised will be saved; he who does not believe will be condemned. These are the signs that will be associated with believers: in my name they will cast out devils; they will have the gift of tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands, and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay

their hands on the sick, who will recover. And so the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them was taken up into heaven; there at the right hand of God He took his place, while they going out, preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word by the signs that accompanied it. The Gospel of the Lord Prayers of the Faithful Response (sung) O Lord Hear Us We Pray, O Lord Give Us Your Love LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST Offetory Hymn Ag Criost an Siol Ag Críost an síol, Ag Críost an fómhar: In iothlann Dé Go dtugtar sinn. Ag Críost an mhuir, Ag Críost an t-iasc: I líontaibh Dé Go gcastar sinn. Holy Holy Holy Sanctus Sanctus Sanctus Dominus Deus sabbaoth Pleni sunt caeli et terra Gloria tua Hosanna in excelsis Benedictus qui venit in nomine domini. Hosanna in excelsis. Memorial Acclamation He is Lord, He is Lord He is risen from the dead and He is Lord Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess That Jesus Christ is Lord. COMMUNION RITE Lamb of God Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi Misere nobis Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi Misere nobis Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi Dona nobis pacem Ó fhás go haois Is ó aois go bás, Do dhá lámh, a Chríost, Anall tharainn. O bhás go críoc nach Críoc ac athfhás, I bparthas na ngrás go rabhaimid. Communion Hymns Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all Jesus, my Lord, my God, my all How can I love thee as I ought And how revere this wondrous gift So far surpassing hope and thought. Sweet Sacrament we Thee adore Oh make us love Thee more and more Oh make us love Thee more and more. Had I but Mary s sinless heart To love Thee with my dearest King Oh with what bursts of fervent praise Thy goodness, Jesus, would I sing. Ah see within a creature s hand The vast Creator deigns to be Reposing, infant-like, as though On Joseph s arm, or Mary s knee. Sound, sound His praises higher still And come ye angels to our aid Tis God, tis God, the very God whose power both man and angels made. Here I Am Lord I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard My people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin, My hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear My light to them? Whom shall I send? Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart. I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have born my peoples pain. I have wept for love of them, They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, Give them hearts for love alone. I will speak My word to them, Whom shall I send? I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them,

My hand will save Finest bread I will provide, Till their hearts be satisfied. I will give My life to them, Whom shall I send? Though We Are Many Though we are many, we are one body. We who come to share this living bread; Cup of salvation, shared among all nations, nourishing us now and ever more. We gather in this place round the table of the Lord. Christ s presence is revealed in our communion and his Living Word. Now our communion recalls Christ s death and resurrection. This living sacrifice is our salvation now and ever more. And through this shared Eucharist we are the living Church. We witness to Christ s love His living body active in our world. Christ Be Beside Me Christ be beside me, Christ be before me, Christ be behind me, King of my heart. Christ be within me, Christ be below me, Christ be above me, never to part. Christ on my right hand, Christ on my left hand Christ all around me, shield in the strife. Christ in my sleeping, Christ in my sitting, Christ in my rising, light of my heart. C Christ be in all hearts thinking about me, Christ be on all tongues telling of me. Christ be the vision in eyes that see me, In ears that hear me Christ ever be. A Mhuire Mhathair A Mhuire Mháthair, Sé seo mo ghuí Go maire Íosa Go deo nar gcroí Ave Maria, mo ghrá Ave, Is tusa mo mháthair is máthair Dé A Mhuire Mháthair, I rith mo shaoil Bí liom mar dhídean ar gach aon bhaol A Mhuire Mháthair tá lán de ghrás Go raibh tú taobh liom Ar uair mo bháis Communion Antiphon Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age, says the Lord, Alleluia. Prayer After Communion Grant, we pray, Almighty God, That what we have received from your altar May sanctity us and make us strong In the faith of the Gospel which Saint Mark proclaimed Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Prayers before the Final Blessing Act of Consecration of Ireland to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and Refuge of Sinners, we entrust and consecrate ourselves, our family, our home, our Dioceses and Ireland, our country, to Jesus through your Immaculate Heart. As your children, we promise to follow your example in our lives by doing at all times the will of God. O Mary, Spouse of the Holy Spirit, we renew today the promises of our Baptism and Confirmation. Intercede for us with the Holy Spirit that we may be always faithful to your Divine Son, to his Mystical Body, the Catholic Church, and to the teachings of his Vicar on earth, our Holy Father the Pope. Immaculate Heart of Mary, our Queen and our Mother, we promise to uphold the sanctity of marriage and the welfare of the family. Watch over our minds and hearts and preserve our young people from dangers to their faith and the many temptations that threaten them in the world today. We ask you, Mary our Advocate to intercede with your Divine Son. Obtain for our country the grace to uphold the uniqueness of every human life, from the first moment of conception to natural death.

O Blessed Mother, Our Life, Our Sweetness and Our Hope, we wish that this Consecration be for the greater glory of God and that it lead us safely to Jesus your Son. A Naomh-Mhuire, a Mháthair Dé, guigh orainn na peacaigh, anois agus ar uair ár mbáis. Amen. Pope Francis Prayer to the Holy Family for families of the world Jesus, Mary and Joseph to you, Holy Family of Nazareth, today we turn our gaze with admiration and confidence; in you we contemplate the beauty of communion in true love; to you we commend our families, so that in them marvels of grace be renewed. Holy Family of Nazareth, alluring school of the Gospel: teach us to imitate your virtues with a wise spiritual discipline, grant us a clear vision that recognizes the work of Providence n the daily realities of life. Holy Family of Nazareth, faithful custodian of the mystery of salvation: help us to regain an appreciation for silence, make our families cenacles of prayer and transform them into little domestic Churches, renew the desire for sanctity, sustain the noble toil of work, of education, of listening, of mutual understanding and of forgiveness. Holy Family of Nazareth, reawaken in our society the consciousness of the sacred and inviolable character of the family, an inestimable and irreplaceable good. May every family be a place where goodness and peace are welcomed for children and for the elderly, for those who are sick and alone, for those who are poor and needy. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, we pray to you with confidence, we entrust ourselves to you with joy. Final Blessing Blessing of religious objects and Final Blessing Recessional Hymn Our Lady of Knock There were people of all ages gathered round the gable wall poor and humble men and women, little children that you called We are gathered here before you, and our hearts are just the same filled with joy at such a vision, as we praise your name. Golden Rose, Queen of Ireland, all my cares and troubles cease as we kneel with love before you, Lady of Knock, my Queen of Peace Though your message was unspoken, still the truth in silence lies as we gaze upon your vision, and the truth I try to find Here I stand with John the teacher, and with Joseph at your side and I see the Lamb of God, on the Altar glorified And the Lamb will conquer and the woman clothed in the sun will shine Her light on everyone Yes the lamb will conquer And the woman clothed in the sun Will shine Her light on everyone. We entrust to your motherly care, the land of Ireland, were you have been, and are, so much loved. Help this land stay true to your Son always Queen of Ireland, Mary, Mother of the Heavenly Church, keep Ireland true to her spiritual tradition and her Christian heritage. St. John Paul, Knock Shrine 30th Sept 1979
