THE MESSENGER CARLSRUHE SADDLEWORTH LUTHERAN PARISH St John s St Matthew s Zion Carlsruhe Riverton Saddleworth Trinity Pastor Leon Rosenberg 42 Belvidere Road SADDLEWORTH SA 5413 Ph/Fax Black 8847 Springs 4429 Mob 0402 439 334 Email leonrosenberg55@gmail.com April/May/June 2018 He is risen! He is risen indeed! I hope you are reading this edition of the Messenger at Easter. A good question for you to ponder. A few weeks ago, we held a public viewing of the film Risen at Saddleworth. This film has had an impact on a number of people. (The DVD is available from me on request.) What I loved about it is how Jesus being alive changes us. For the Roman Tribune, it meant A day without death. For the disciples, it showed in a joy they couldn t keep to themselves. For an old woman portrayed in the film, it was a life knowing that Jesus loved her. What does Jesus rising from the dead (Easter) mean for you? I pray that it will encourage you to grow in The Fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and selfcontrol (See Galatian 5:22,23). Remember: we used these HSH during lent and over Easter to thank God, confess our sins and to ask for guidance. They are still available (on request). Pastor Leon

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE PARISH The Journey Camp: Day Camp on April 16 th (first day of the school holidays) at Saddleworth Church Hall on the topic of PRAYER. Please pray for the young people who on their journey of faith: Chloe Eckermann, Zack and Matt Holland, James and Emmi Nicholls, Charlie Nicholls, Lydia Schwartz. Pastor has his office at the back of the manse. However, to be more available, Pastor has been setting up his office at the back of Riverton Church (St Matthews, Lutheran on Tuesday morning (about 9-12) and on random days (9-4) at Carlsruhe Manse Retreat (across the road from St John Carlsruhe). It has to be on random days at the Retreat because as you know, we hire it out. And did you know that sometimes Pastor works from his office in Adelaide? So, don t jump to the conclusion that if he is not at the manse or in fact even in the Valley he is not doing ministry. Did you know too that Pastor tries to get involved in the Community because you made it clear that that s what you wanted him to do, when you called him? COMBINED SERVICE: on Sunday April 29 th at Riverton Uniting Church. Guest speaker: Geraldine Hawkes (Ecumenical Facilitator South Australia Council of Churches) will be speaking on Receptive Ecumenism in this interactive worship event.
