New Parishioners: Please introduce yourself to Father after Mass and call the Central Office. P.O. Box 308, Holdingford, MN 56340 St. Patrick Captured by Irish pirates at age 14, St. Patrick was a slave tending sheep in Ireland which was a land of Druids and pagans. But St. Patrick s faith only grew: The love of God and his fear grew in me more and more, as did the faith, and my soul was roused, so that, in a single day, I have said as many as a hundred prayers and in the night, nearly the same. I prayed in the woods and on the mountain, even before dawn. I felt no hurt from the snow or ice or rain. St. Patrick escaped after having a dream from God telling him to go to the coast where he was able to sail back to Britain and be reunited with his family. Within a few years he had a vision of a man named Victoricus, who gave St. Patrick a letter from those who had enslaved him asking for him to return to Ireland: We appeal to you, holy servant boy, to come and walk among us. Because of this vision, St. Patrick studied for the Priesthood and returned to Ireland only to have a chieftain of a druid tribe try to kill him. God intervened and St. Patrick was able to convert many thousands of people often using the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity. St. Patrick died on March 17th in the year 461. We are not certain when or where he was born but we know St. Joseph was from royal lineage as noted in Luke2:24. He was called son of David by the angel who first tells him of Jesus. We are not certain of when or where he died as he is not mentioned during Jesus public life and death. But we are certain that he was a compassionate man who accepted Mary as his wife and Jesus as his son. Joseph followed God s commands. When an angel told him his family was in danger, he left all he knew and moved to Egypt until being told it was safe to travel back. He also led his family to Jerusalem for Passover each year. St. Joseph leads us in showing respect for God St. Joseph Pray for Us! Ham Bingo at 1:30 p.m. today at the St. Stanislaus Church Basement.

New Evangelization Corner Dear Friends, Today s Gospel opens with a request to Philip: Sir, we would like to see Jesus. Doesn t this request echo the cry of all of our hearts as well? Don t we all desperately want and need to see who Jesus is? When the disciples approach Jesus, it almost appears that He is evading the question. Instead of saying, Sure! bring those who want to see me over, He speaks about his hour; His passion and death on the cross. You see, if we want to understand who Jesus is, if we want to see him, we must look to the cross. As I mentioned last week, Jesus death on the cross is the greatest revelation of the heart of God. This heart blazes with so much love that it is willing to die for our sake. Jesus perfect act of self-giving on the cross reveals that God is radical self-giving love. As we get closer to Holy Week, let s resist the temptation to rush through the Passion narratives and quickly flip through the stations of the cross. Jesus slow and painful Way of the Cross is our way, too. As followers of Christ, we too must reveal the heart of God by radically giving of ourselves to others. This is our purpose! Let's courageously carry our crosses so other's can see who Jesus is.
