The Priest lights the candle from the new fire, saying: May the light of Christ rising in glory dispel the darkness of our hearts and minds. The Deacon accepts the paschal candle from the Priest and a procession is formed. The Deacon lifts the candle high and sings: As the procession continues all candles are lit from the paschal candle. When the procession reaches the middle of the church the Deacon lifts the candle high and sings a second time: Deacon: Response: The light of Christ. Thanks be to God.
