Tadabbur of Surah As-Saffat Sister Eman al Obaid Class 5 Ayat 27 34 20 th May 2018 Surat As Saffat is about the submission. Who do you need to submit to? No matter how much power a person has you cannot submit to anyone except Allah swt. Who is your Ilah? o The One only worth of your worship o He is worthy of all your attachments o He is worthy of all your devotions and submissions When you submit, you submit to ONE, you cannot submit and surrender to more than one this ONE is enough for you. Who is your Lord whom you submit to? The Lord of the heavens and the earth and the sky. Submit to The Lord of everyone. You want for anything between the heavens and the earth you go to The Lord of the heavens and the earth. He is The Lord of the sun; the sun will submit and surrender to Him. In Surat As Saffat Allah swt mentions those who did not surrender, they are exceeding the boundaries. Who are they? The shayateen. Why, what do they want? They exceed their boundaries because they want to listen to what Allah swt said to the angels; and they feel they have power to break the rules of Allah swt in His dominion. You cannot exceed the boundaries of Allah swt. We exceed the boundaries by not submitting to Allah swt. Allah swt is able to disable the shayateen but the submission is something I can do, but I should submit to Allah swt not because I have the power to exceed that. For example at a traffic lights I can go past a red light but when I see the red light I stop, I know I shouldn t go passed it. 1
Submission to Allah swt is that you have the power to do but you really need to surrender to Allah swt. If someone exceeds the boundaries there will be no salaam upon them. The shayateen will be hit by the shooting stars. A shooting star will penetrate their bodies made of fire. Submission to Allah swt is when you will apply all that Allah swt has ordained upon you because you can so easily exceed the boundaries in this life. Chapter (55) sūrat l-raḥmān (The Most Gracious) 55:33 O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority [from Allah]. Allah swt gave an example of those shayateen who can climb and listen and exceed the boundaries; look what happened to them; no one will be saved. What do humans think about themselves? You are made of sticky clay. Do you think you are greater than this other creation? The humiliation of the human for what they are doing on this earth is a lot. Allah swt will make you to hear the guidance to submit. When Allah swt shows you the guidance with your eyes you need to surrender and to submit. But the disbelievers will mock, they will not listen, so they will not submit. The start of their submission is on the Day of Judgement. The Malaika will handle these people. Allah swt will humiliate them again and again until they totally surrender. What you used to worship will be a humiliation and a regret for them. Before going into hellfire they will be stopped and questioned; this is a humiliation in front of everyone. Better I surrender now and account myself now in this life. You are responsible, everyone is responsible for themselves. Whoever you are, Allah swt will ask you about your responsibilities. You need to surrender to Allah swt to help you with your responsibilities. Now you are gathered with your kind, but you not helping each other, another humiliation. But by force they will now surrender and submit. The more you surrender the more peace you will have. After the disbelievers are submitting, Allah swt describes what comes between them. 37:27 And they will approach one another blaming each other. You will have two groups coming to each other. Who is group A and group B? A B the chiefs / leaders the followers The followers are more than the chiefs. Group B (followers) is surrendering to Group A (leaders) in this life. But on the Day of Judgement they will all surrender. Why are they asking each other? Because all this time the followers did not surrender to Allah swt but they surrendered to the leaders. They surrendered to something in the middle it could be shaytan anyone who said something and they think that they have the power, they surrendered to them; they did not surrender to Allah swt. 2
They are surrendering in this life but they are not surrendering to something worthy; they are surrendering to something made from stick clay. And they stick to this. The followers (B) goes first to the leaders (A) who are blaming B for not surrendering with one sentence. Blame the followers blame those that they followed. 37:28 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." B surrender to A because of the power. Today because of social media so many people are following other people. Now the followers B group want to blame the leaders A group in this life you used to; come to us. You know why I followed you? Because you came to us. I didn t come to you, you came to us. From their statement it is clear that there is confusion. There is a loop of blame so no one knows where is the start. You came to us from where? from the right. From the right means 3 things; what is the approach that A came to B with? What are the big obstacles from surrendering to Allah swt to someone other than Allah swt? A came to B with oaths. This is how shaytaan makes the children of Adam (as) slip. There is no need to make claims it is about actions i.e. I m patient, I m this or that. Claims are a way to increase followers. The right hand is known by it s power. You came to us by your power that is why we followed you. You came to us and promised us good. We need to surrender only to Allah swt because on Yawmu-al-Fasl everything will be apparent you forced us to follow. How will the leaders A respond? 37:29 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, Response of You are wrong because you disbelieved in Allah swt that is why you listened those were being to me. You are blaming us but why did you follow us because your mistake followed. is that you were not a believer. If you believed in Allah swt you would not believed in our oaths and promises. Belief in Allah swt will prevent you from being influenced by the people. Only Allah swt is the Curer, the Provider, the Guide. Because of a lack of faith in the first place you will follow others, you would listen or be influenced. You allowed yourself to disbelieve because of your 3
lack of faith. If you really believed in Allah swt you will believe in Allah swt and not listen to anything anyone else would say. The real problem is you everyone is responsible for their own actions. This is your problem. The main reason for your misguidance is not because of us, it is because of yourself, you are not mumineen. And because you are not mumineen you believe anything that someone says to you. The blame is on you because you are responsible for what you do. The one with strong faith will not be affected by incorrect information. 37:30 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 2 nd response from They negate the authority placed on them. The choice to follow was the leaders to the completely with those who followed them. They didn t have the followers. power to make people to follow them. Blame yourselves. You have a will, submit only to Allah swt, don t surrender to anyone else. 1. You don t believe. 2. We have no authority over you 3. You are exceeding the boundaries Allah swt showed you the ayat to surrender to Allah swt. What did the followers say to the leaders? 37:31 So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]. The followers Haqqa obliged on us, it has to come true, this is the reality; this is what will happen. You are blaming us but it is haq on both of us. The truth is we should submit to Allah swt. the word of our Lord. They admit about Allah swt with the Name of Allah swt Rabb. Ar Rabb The Reformer who brings the ayat so that you will submit. Now they know Rabbana. But they didn t submit. o The leaders are not accepting the nurturing but they need to stop making people to surrender to them; don t allow it. o The followers are not accepting the nurturing. They blindly follow the leaders even though Allah swt brings them the ayat to take them out of this. We need reminders, we need ayat to see. Allah swt nurtured them, but they didn t accept the signs of their Lord. Why does the reforming come? To make you better in life. What are you trying to achieve in Surat As Saffat? Complete submission to Allah swt ONLY, your Nurturer. 4
will certainly taste Now they are realising it. Taghut is one who is accepting the people worshipping them. Anyone who bellied the word of Allah swt, for them it means going to Hellfire. Hellfire will be filled with those who were rebellious. The shayateen and the followers of the shayateen, Allah swt word is fair for them. The followers are still listening to the leaders. Both will taste the punishment because they both didn t submit to Allah swt or accepted the nurturing from Allah swt. When an ayat comes you need to listen, to not make fun. They will surrender with humiliation after this conversation. Chapter (32) sūrat l-sajdah (The Prostration) 32:21 And we will surely let them taste the nearer punishment short of the greater punishment that perhaps they will repent. In this life, as a nurturing from Allah swt you will taste the least punishment in order to return to Allah swt. But if you do NOT accept the nurturing and accept being humiliated by others, then everyone will be humiliated, both the leaders and the followers who disbelieved. No one will have any doubts when they go to Hellfire. From the disbelievers side Allah swt will show the truth. What will the leaders say next? so we led you astray 37:32 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." In the end the leaders will admit they were misled. Submission is when you admit to Allah swt that you were wrong. In life when you blame others for your own evil you are not submitting to Allah swt. Don t stick / attach your falsehood to someone else. In life we need to admit that we did wrong. Don t blame each other like those on the Day of Judgement. What is the obstacle from submitting to Allah swt? Exceeding the boundaries Not admitting your faults, blaming others. What is important is you and Allah swt. If you blame someone it means you are thinking about someone else. But if you look at yourself and admit I did wrong, I need to admit to Allah swt ; this means SUBMISSION. o To listen o To take the reminders o See the ayat o Don t mock o Magnify o Believe o Don t exceed the boundaries o Admit your mistakes 5
Astray We misguided you because we were already misguided ourselves. If my misguidance causes others to follow me, this is misguidance. Du a: May Allah swt make us guided from people following us in guidance. Never make us among the misguided ones and mislead the others. Don t be the first to disbelieve or deny as there is a long queue behind you. For example my father smoked so I smoke. Don not be a leader in coming the wrong. Firstly they are misguided. Secondly they misguide the others. The leaders now admit. Lesson for us Everyone is blaming each other. No one has any power. The leaders have no power. The followers follow the leaders. The leaders will not support the followers but they will add to their problems blaming them. Be careful, don t follow those who do wrong because we don t have any power. 37:33 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. The leaders and followers are both having a share. (will be) sharers Which will have the worst of the share? The leaders. Because they take their sins and the sins of all those who did wrong. The son of Adam (as) who killed his brother, was the first one to commit a killing. He will take his sin and the sin of all those who killed after him. The one who sins and who is followed by others in committing the same sin will have more punishment than those who follow him in the sin, but both will have a share in the sin. with the criminals The punishment will not be light on them, it will not be easy for them. 37:34 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. Who are the criminals? The leaders and the followers of misguidance. What will Allah swt do? Allah swt will punish them because of their crime. Surat As Saffat is about total submission to Allah swt. If you are not surrendering to Allah swt then you could be surrendering to someone other than Allah swt; but do you think they have the sultan (authority) and power. They are not forcing you to follow them; you are responsible for your own actions. 6
