Go WEST - Welcome, Equip, Serve, Transform February 1, 2018 Volume 12 Issue 2 Worship 10:30 a.m. Sunday School 9:30 a.m. 802 North Elm Weatherford, Texas 76086 817-599-8601 Church Office 8am - 5pm Monday - Thursday Closed on Friday Visit us on the Web www.coutsmethodistchurch.com Sr. Pastor - Matt Hall Snack Supper Served at 5:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall

From The Pastor Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ! I am excited with all of the great things happening at Couts. Sunday we welcomed our new Worship and Praise Team leader, Tory Childers. Tory started playing music in church when he was 7 years old. He would play with his mom and dad. He has played in secular groups over the years and is excited to be a part of the ministry at Couts. He plays several different instruments and, as we heard on Sunday, he has a wonderful voice. Tory seeks to honor his love for God with music and seeks to be a part of facilitating that sense of awe and worship of God for all who attend. Make sure and introduce yourself to Tory and welcome him to Couts. In February, we have our Ash Wednesday service on February 14 th at 6:00 p.m. The snack supper will begin at 5:15 p.m. that day. Ash Wednesday marks the 40 days before Easter (not counting Sundays). It is a time of self reflection and preparation of one s heart to welcome the risen Christ into the world. This year Easter Sunday falls on Debt Reduction Commitment total $381,448 Loan Balance As of 1/31/17 - $908,567.67 April 1. As we pray for what God is doing through us this year, I would like to offer you all a challenge. The number one reason someone attends worship for the first time is that they are invited. I would like for our church to personally invite 500 people to worship between now and Easter. When you invite, write their name down and bring it to worship. We will pray for them as a group. As we seek to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the world, I invite everyone to begin praying for those that have no place to worship and ask God how we can respond. On February 18 th following worship we are having a church wide mission event. Everyone is invited to come and I encourage everyone that serves on any committee to make plans to attend. This event will help us kick start what it looks like for us to move forward in our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. I am looking forward to what God can do through us. This coming Friday night we will have our first meeting of Mom s Club. It is a time for moms to come and share and support one another. Thank you to Shelly Gonzales for leading this group. Also, we have some food opportunities coming up. This Sunday, Super Bowl Sunday, our youth are selling fajitas. Place your order now if it is not too late. The proceeds will help the cover the cost of the youth mission trip this summer. Also, on Tuesday the 13 th As of 1/25/2018 - $741,268.32 Amount Paid through debt reduction $167,299.35 Page 2 Page 2 it s pancake time! Our Tweens are having a pancake supper to raise money for our children s ministry. Both of these fundraisers are to help supplement the budgets needed for these ministries. It will be fun and filling! In January we welcome Lynda Salazar and Gary Tomlin to our church family. Both have told me they were excited to find a welcoming church home. February 11 th is Scout Sunday! Our Cub Scouts have grown to 40+ and our Boy Scout troop continues to grow along with our Girl Scouts (thanks for the cookies!). Do come and celebrate this vital ministry of our church. We are looking for a coordinator for our 4 Center of Hope weeks of service during the year. The coordination involves checking with the staff at Center of Hope and getting groups coordinated for their day of service. We serve about 75 people each day. I pray that our church will be the eyes, ears, hands and feet of Christ in Weatherford, Texas and beyond. We all seek to keep Christ at the center of our lives every day and join together in this wonderful journey. Grace and Peace, Pastor Matt
