* CALL TO WORSHIP adapted from Psalm 85 Dale Osborne One: Listen, listen to God s voice, speaking peace to all who are faithful. Many: God s salvation is very close to those who listen, who follow. One: Faithful love and truth meet in seeking God s way. Many: Justice and peace embrace in the honoring of Divine call. One: In such moments, truth springs up from the ground. Many: And righteousness gazes down from heaven. ALL: May we each awaken to God s salvation, here, in our very midst. A-men. * HYMN O Come, O Come, Emmanuel 119 VENI EMMANUEL * PASSING THE PEACE OF CHRIST One: The peace of Christ be with you! Many: And also with you! LIGHTING & LISTENING Amy-Jae, Thomas, & Carmela Crawford One: As we still our busy minds and hearts this fourth Sunday of Advent, we light the candle of love. Many: Light of Love, shine on us. One: Light of Love, illuminate the way of all who are lonely, doubting, grieving, suffering, or anxious. Many: Light of Love, shine on all. One: Light of Love, overwhelm the darkness of fear and distrust that keeps us silent, closed off. Many: Light of Love, shine through our darkness. One: Light of Love, reveal what may be righted, what may be sealed. Many: Light of Love, shine brightly so that we may see. One: Dear friends, if we love one another, we are born from God and know God. Many: Light of Love, be born in us. CANDLE LIGHTING LITANY THE GOSPEL LESSON Luke 1:26-38 One: This is the Gospel of Christ Emily Brewer, lector Many: Thanks be to God.

ABHMS launches 'Rebuilding, Restoring, Renewing Puerto Rico' multi-year initiative In response to the devastating one-two punch leveled at Puerto Rico by hurricanes Irma and Maria, American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS), in partnership with American Baptist Churches USA, has launched "Rebuilding, Restoring, Renewing Puerto Rico." The multi-year initiative seeks to raise $1 million through One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) to support rebuilding communities and lives. ABHMS has pledged $25,000, matching OGHS funds already earmarked for Puerto Rico recovery. "We will work with our American Baptist partners to restore all 114 churches and nine missions in Iglesias Bautistas de Puerto Rico " says ABHMS Executive Director Dr. Jeffrey Haggray. The first phase will address Puerto Rico's pressing need for supplies, including bottled water; medicines; baby wipes, diapers and formula; canned milk; bedding; insect repellant; first-aid kits; and construction materials. ABHMS maintains a longstanding relationship with American Baptist Churches of Puerto Rico. The American Baptist Home Mission Society, a forerunner of today's ABHMS, established the first Baptist church in Rio Piedras in 1899 and sponsored home missionaries from the mainland who ministered across the island. Contributions of any size will make a big difference to our American Baptist family in Puerto Rico. One hundred percent of donations go to relief efforts. One third of Binkley s Christmas Eve offering will be directed to Puerto Rico support through the efforts of ABHMS. Thank you for helping your church provide effective support for our friends in Puerto Rico. Make checks payable to Binkley with Christmas Eve in the item section.
