Everything you always wanted to know about The CPC Library

HAPPINESS IS Knowing the sections and types of materials found in the Library The Library has collections of print books, journals, DVDs, and CDs.

Library book collections The books are divided into these Sections: Reference books to aid in Bible study includes concordances, Bible encyclopedias, and commentaries. These may be checked out.

Library book collections Adult non-fiction this collection includes books on theology, practical Christian living, and Christian biography.

Library book collections Adult Fiction a collection by Christian writers, arranged by author s last name.

Library book collections 3 sections of Children s books, divided by age-level: Easy, Junior, and Young Adult. Like the Adult sections, they are further sub-divided by Non-fiction and Fiction.

HAPPINESS IS Understanding the Dewey Decimal system and knowing the major subdivisions. Books are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal classification system. The majority of the Library holdings are in the 200s (Religion) with a smattering of Social Sciences (300s) Technology (600s) and other major divisions. HAPPINESS IS Using the online catalog to find materials. For instructions on how to use the catalog, visit the Library homepage on the CPC Website with a link to a page on using the Online Catalog

HAPPINESS IS Knowing how to check out materials and how long I can keep them. Fill out the book card (in back of the book, DVD, or CD) and place here

Check-out Procedures Complete the card with the date (month, day, year) and your first and last name. Place in the Book Cards box. If you or your family is not listed in the CPC Directory, please also complete with contact information (e.g. email or phone).

Loan Period The load period for books is 3 months, for DVDs CDs, and journals, 3 weeks. All items may be renewed by sending a request for renewal to library@columbiapres.org NOTE: Journals do not have their own book card. Simply complete a post-it note with the date, your name, title of the journal and issue (month and year) and leave it in the Sign-out box.

HAPPINESS IS Returning items anytime I want. Library not open? No problem use the Book drop slot at the end of the hall next to the closet. Where do they go? Into a container where they ll wait for the books and book cards to be matched and books returned to the shelves.

HAPPINESS IS adding new items to the library s collections. The Library adds new items through purchase or donation. Donated books, audio CDs or DVDs on Christian topics are greatly appreciated, including children s books. If they are not selected for the Library collection, donations will be re-gifted or returned, if so requested. Teaching a Sunday School class and have some books you d like to have in the Library? Heard of a book that you d like to see in the Library? Recommendations for purchase are welcome. Your requests will be considered in light of available funds.
