D. L. Evans Bank Premier Club Ultimate Utah Getaway October 1 5, 2018 Day One Monday, October 1 Depart Boise early this morning for our five day, four night Ultimate Utah Getaway! We will travel southeast through Southern Idaho picking up club members along the way. A lunch stop will be made in Tremonton, Utah while we meet up with our Eastern Idaho friends. Lehi, Utah was first settled by a group of Mormon pioneers in 1850. It was first named Evansville after David Evans, a local bishop. The settlement grew so quickly that it was the sixth city incorporated into Utah in 1852 and renamed Lehi after a prophet. Now Lehi is known for Thanksgiving Point a complex that draws upon the natural world to cultivate transformative family learning. We will arrive late afternoon in Lehi with time to rest at the Hampton Inn and Suites. Dinner is on your own tonight at one of the many surrounding restaurants. Day Two Tuesday, October 2 Following a delicious breakfast at the hotel, board our motor coach and head to Cedar Breaks National Monument. Here, we will see the natural amphitheater filled with hoodoos. We will stop at overlooks and the visitor center for different views of the park so be sure to have your camera ready! Discover one of America's most special parks! Crowning the grand staircase, Cedar Breaks sits at over 10,000 feet and looks down into a half-mile deep geologic amphitheater. Early settlers called the badlands breaks contributing to the name. Lunch will be on your own in Cedar City, Utah before making our way to the Hampton Inn and Suites in St. George, Utah. You will have plenty of time to relax at the hotel before our dinner at the Cliffside Restaurant overlooking the scenic St. George Valley. (B, D) Day Three Wednesday, October 3 Enjoy a delightful breakfast at the hotel before our fun-filled day exploring St. George. We will begin our day at Snow Canyon State Park with ample time to discover the sand dunes, view slot canyons, and experience the visitor center. Snow Canyon State Park is quietly tucked amid lava flows and soaring sandstone cliffs. Snow Canyon is located in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. The canyon is made up of stone sand dunes from Navajo sandstone burnt orange and creamy white in color. Anasazi and Paiute Indians used the canyon until the mid-1800 s when Mormon pioneers arrived. If lucky, you may see the desert tortoise which the Reserve was established to protect.
After Snow Canyon State Park, we will head to Downtown St. George with lunch and shopping on your own. We will return to the hotel late afternoon to freshen up before our dinner at the Anasazi Steakhouse and The Prince of Egypt play at Tuacahn Amphitheatre. From the Tony & Academy award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell) comes the Tuacahn premiere of The Prince of Egypt, an inspiring new musical that recounts Moses emotional journey to save his people from the oppressing grasp of his Pharaoh brother Ramses. Inspired by the beloved DreamWorks animation film, featuring a score that includes the Academy Awardwinning When You Believe. The Tuacahn Center for the Arts is located in the mouth of Padre Canyon (near Snow Canyon State Park). From Tuacahn, we ll board the motor coach for the hotel. (B, D) Day Four Thursday, October 4 We will begin the day with breakfast before we board the motor coach as we say farewell to St. George and make our way to Sundance, Utah. Weather permitting, we will enjoy a lift ride at the resort, explore the grounds and shops, then have lunch at Foundry Grill. Sundance Mountain Resort is a popular ski destination that spans over 5,000 acres on the slopes of Mount Timpanogos in Utah s Wasatch Range. Actor Robert Redford acquired the area in 1968 and established a year-round resort which would later spawn the independent Sundance Film Festival. Sundance is committed to the balance of art, nature, and community. Maybe you will leave just a little more inspired than when you arrived Succeeding lunch, we will make our way to the Hyatt Downtown Salt Lake City where we will end the night. Dinner and entertainment is on your own this evening with the Gateway Center across the street from the hotel. (B, L) The Gateway Center is a large open air retail, residential, and office complex in Downtown Salt Lake City. It currently contains over 100 stores and restaurants including the Clark Planetarium, the Megaplex 12 Movie Theater, The Depot, and Wiseguy Comedy Club. The Gateway offers the best combination of shopping, dining, entertainment, and beautiful scenery. The Gateway encompasses the old Union Pacific Building. This renovated and restored Depot is an important part of Utah's history, serving as one of the most outstanding architectural structures in Utah. The Union Pacific Depot Grand Hall serves as the Grand Entrance to The Gateway. Day Five Friday, October 5 Following breakfast at the Hyatt, we will board the motor coach and make our way home. Stops will be made in Tremonton to say good-bye to our Eastern Idaho members then through Southern Idaho stopping in Twin Falls for lunch before returning to Boise. (B)
