VACANCY FOR A YOUTH AND CHILDREN S MINISTER Holy Trinity Church Sheen Park Richmond TW9 1UP Do you have a passion for working with young people? Are you excited about helping them find faith in Jesus and nurturing them to become disciples and Christian leaders? If so, maybe we have just the role for you! OUR CHURCH Holy Trinity is an Anglican Parish Church about ten minutes walk from Richmond Town Centre. We are a church with an open door, reaching out with God s love and power, and helping one another live for Jesus. We believe that the Good News of Jesus is a message of hope for people of all ages, and that meeting Him can be a lifechanging encounter. We believe that God s Spirit and word are both active today, helping us to know Him personally and empowering us to minister for Him. We have a Staff Team of eleven people, some working full time and some part time, and a committed congregation who serve the life of our church in a huge variety of ways. We are part of Holy Trinity Brompton s Network of churches, which is committed to church planting and church growth. OUR PARISH Our parish serves the eastern half of Richmond, sitting between the town centre and neighbouring Sheen. The church itself is about ten minutes walk from Richmond Station, which has excellent train and underground links to central London; the train journey to London Page 1

Waterloo takes just over a quarter of an hour. The parish is largely residential, with many people travelling to work in London. It has a mixture of single people, families and retired people. Although close to central London, Richmond is blessed with plenty of open spaces, including the 2,000+ acres of Richmond Park, Kew Gardens and the River Thames. WORKING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE AND CHILDREN Young people and children are a hugely important part of our church life. We already employ a Youth and Children s Minister (who is moving on - hence this vacancy) and a Children s Worker, who are supported by a team of volunteers. We run Sunday age-based groups for children and young people up to age 14 on most Sundays, with all age worship roughly once a month. There is a fortnightly Friday evening Christian-themed club for children in school years 4-6, while young people in school years 7-13 meet every week, alternating between a club evening and more of a focus on discipleship. We have strong links with local schools in the parish. Holy Trinity School is a Church of England Primary School and Christ s School is a Secondary School with a sixth form. Both actively encourage our involvement, and provide opportunities to speak openly about the Christian faith. You will have particular opportunities to be involved at Christ s School. THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The main purpose of the role is To lead, develop and co-ordinate work with young people and children in our church and the surrounding neighbourhood Page 2

To help young people and children find a personal faith in Jesus Christ, grow in their faith and take part in the life, worship and witness of our church as their gifts develop, so that by the time they head off to college or start working life they are fully committed to Jesus and equipped to live for Him To pioneer new ways of making links with young people locally, in particular through our local secondary school. YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Your main responsibilities will be as follows: To lead our youth work and manage our children s work on Sundays and during the week, including line managing our Children s Worker To lead and build our youth team in its work with young people in school years 7-13, including developing a clear strategy for this ministry To continue to develop our relationship with Christ s School and make use of existing and new opportunities for ministry that spring from this, especially through mentoring To building relationships with and between young people through the week by week programme, camps and events like Soul Survivor and New Wine To pray with and for young people and for the teams that work with them To work with other church leaders in planning and delivering All Age Services To be an ambassador for your ministry, keeping church members and especially other leaders informed about what you are doing To be our church s lead Safeguarding Officer, ensuring that policies, training and record keeping are up to date and that any issues are handled correctly and in a timely way To take an active role in our Staff Team, attending staff meetings and prayer meetings as agreed with your line manager To pursue your own spiritual well-being and growth through prayer, bible study, membership of one our Life Groups and having a spiritual mentor With help from your line manager, to identify and attend training events, conferences and retreats that will support you in your role and future development To take an active part in other areas of the life of our church according to your gifts and as agreed with your line manager.
