GARDENING CLUB UPDATE The gardening club has been working very hard to look after our vegetable garden. Last Friday we were able to harvest our first broccoli and cauliflower from our Vegetable Garden. This produce along with some lettuce and herbs were sold for a donation. With the money raised the gardening club will now purchase some new seedlings to plant. Thank you. PRAYER Lord Jesus, we come together today because we want to learn more about your Word. Teach us to understand and keep the greatest commandment of all: To love one another as you have loved us Thought for the Week A bad attitude is like a flat tyre. You can t go anywhere until you fix it. Best Wishes John Kremers Principal AFC ASIAN CUP CLINIC On the 19 th of November the Level 4 students got to meet 2 AFC Asian Cup organisers. Their names were Robbie and Ian. We watched a video clip where it showed us the wonders of the AFC Asian Cup. Australia made it into the cup and is in the same group as Oman, South Korea and Kuwait. During the Clinic Robbie taught us some soccer skills like having quick feet so you don t lose the ball. We had to go into 4 teams called South Korea, Oman, Kuwait and Australia. We played a soccer match and South Korea won, when we scored goals we had to celebrate by chanting our country s song. Overall we all had a fantastic time. By Steven Le and Dan Ho
PARISH Advent Next Sunday 30 November is the beginning of the Church s new Liturgical Year; it is the first Sunday of Advent. In our Sunday Lectionary we begin the year B cycle of readings that mainly feature the Gospel of Mark. Advent has a twofold character, for it is a time of preparation for the Solemnities of Christmas, in which the First Coming of the Son of God to humanity is remembered, and likewise a time when, by remembrance of this, minds and hearts are led to look forward to Christ s Second Coming at the end of time. For these two reasons, Advent is a period of devout and expectant delight. GNLYC 39 Pope Francis Daily Meditations Do you know that the Vatican Press Office publishes a summary of Pope Francis daily homilies? The summary is less than an A4 size; but they are well worth reading. Simply go to the Vatican site www.vatican.va and scroll onto Daily Meditations. Don t forget to request the English translation. Alternatively you can go to our web site www.res-parish.org and follow the link. Parish Ministry - How will you serve? Serving others is central to being a Christian. It is recorded John s Gospel that after Jesus had washed the disciples feet he said, So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another s feet (Jn. 13:14). The word Ministry comes from a Latin word meaning service. Every Christian should take this instruction of Jesus seriously. Most Catholics serve others by participating in a ministry in their parish. Are you following Jesus instruction? In what way do you serve? It does not matter if you are new to Resurrection or you have been here for a long time there is a ministry for you. Please read the description of each Resurrection Ministry in the Big Bulletin and then make a one year commitment to at least one Ministry. Complete the attached form and return to the Parish Office or Welcome Desk. All Ministries commence 1 st February 2015. Car Blessings Parishioners from time to time ask Fr Noel to bless their new car. Fr Noel is more than happy to bless cars. However whilst after Mass might be the best time for parishioners, it is not the best time for Fr Noel. One only has to stand back and look at the number of parishioners who approach Fr Noel after Mass to realize the pressure he is under at that time. Should you wish to have your car (or home) blessed the best thing to do is contact the Parish Office and make an appointment (Saturday mornings and Monday and Thursday evenings are usually good). Christmas Party Each year on the 1 st Wednesday of December (3 December this year) instead of having our Parish Meeting Night we have a Christmas party. This is an opportunity for all parishioners who are committed to a Parish Group, a Parish Ministry, or who help in any way whatsoever (Working Bees, delivering Christmas and Easter brochures etc.) to come together to meet, greet, share and celebrate the great spirit that is Resurrection Parish. If joining your other Resurrection parishioners for this fun night you are asked to bring a salad or dessert to share. Chewing Gum Please do not chew chewing gum in church and do not allow your children to do so. Even a casual look at the carpet, the concrete near the church doors or an inspection of the underside of the chairs will make the reason for this request clear. Have You Seen John XXIII?Would the parishioners who borrowed the book John XXlll by Peter Hebblethwaite and the DVD Babette Feast from Fr Noel kindly return them. Adoration During Advent there will be opportunities for parishioners to have some quiet time and prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament. The times are: Thursday 4 December between 7.30 8.30pm Monday 8 December (Feast of the Immaculate Conception) 6.30pm 7.30pm Monday 22 December 6.30pm 7pm Sacrament of Reconciliation During Advent there will be additional opportunities for parishioners to experience God s healing within the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
