GOD'S HOLY FEAST DAYS, LAST GREAT DAY SECOND RESURRECTION - SABBATH SCHOOL LESSON Say Welcome to Sabbath School class. Let s bow our head and ask God for understanding as we study today. Our study today is about the final Holy Feast Day in God s plan of salvation called "The Last Great Day" in the New Testament and is referred to as the "eighth" day in the Old Testament. Say God tells us through Moses...on the eighth day shall be a holy convocation unto you (a Sabbath); and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein Leviticus 23:36. Say - In the New Testament, God tells us through John, In the last day, that great day of the feast (8 th day of Feast of Tabernacles), Jesus stood and cried, saying, if any man thirst (for the knowledge of God and His plan), let him come unto me, and drink (drink in of My Laws, My teachings, My Way Christ is saying). He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly (heart) shall flow rivers of living water (spiritually speaking, eternal life of joy, happiness, good works) John 7:37, 38. Note - (Please make note Christ is keeping the Feast which was in the Law of Moses Leviticus 23:36 and the man-made religions of this world are not). Say Immediately following the 1000 year millennial reign of Christ or "Feast of Tabernacles" is followed by the Last Great Day and pictures the 2 nd resurrection. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished... Revelation 20:5. The Last Great Day is the 2 nd greater harvest and is known as the Great White Throne Judgment of Ezekiel 37, Revelation 20:11-15. Say This Holy Day pictures a time when anyone from the time of Adam and Eve who died not knowing the truth of God will be resurrected and with the deception of Satan removed, all will be offered salvation for the very first time and given the opportunity to answer God s call to come to Him and repent, be baptized and receive His spirit and gain eternal life as He makes them in His image, John 7:37, 38, Genesis 1:26. Say This great multitude numbering in the billions who will be resurrected in the second resurrection will live on this earth and will receive a lifespan of 100 years, Isaiah 65:20-25, and will reap 1
the benefits and blessings of an earth renewed which will have been under the reign of God for 1000 years. Say - Let's take a look at the description of the "Last Great Day" in the Bible for greater understanding. Also remember as we read Revelation is in vision. REVELATION 20:7-15 7 And when the thousand years are expired (This "thousand years" was discussed in "God's Holy Feast Days, The Feast of Tabernacles" which is the Kingdom of God when "The kingdoms (or governments) of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever" Revelation 11:15. Now the "eighth day" begins and), Satan shall be loosed out of his prison (remember Satan was "bound for the 1000 years" Revelation 20:2. Now Satan is "loosed or released" for he still has a job to do), 8 And (Satan and His demons) shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog (spiritually speaking these are symbolic of all rebellious people towards God and His teachings which are led by Satan), to gather them together to battle (against Christ and His Saints): the number of whom is as the sand of the sea (unfortunately many will fall for His deception once again). 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city (Jerusalem): and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them (Gog and Magog). THE PROPHET EZEKIEL EXPLAINS THIS BATTLE FOR US 3 And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: 4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws (as in taming an animal), and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: " 7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them. 8 After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them 2
9 Thou shalt ascend and come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many people with thee (Now God will show the entire world who He is).. 10 Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought (speaking of Gog and Magog, Satan and His demons and those he has deceived): 11 And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages (there was no need for walls because Christ was with them, He was there "wall"); I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, 12 To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land (remember the world has been under the Government of God for 1000 years; a world of peace when Gog and Magog or Satan and His demons come to fight Christ). 13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil (They are asking Gog and Magog, are you coming to fight Christ?)? 14 Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord GOD; In that day when my people of Israel dwelleth safely, shalt thou not know it? 15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts (obscure and dark, hidden), thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army: 16 And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel (My Bride, My Wife), as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes. 17 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them (I told My people about this a long time ago through my prophets Moses, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel etc.)? 18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, that my fury shall come up in my face. 19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel (God will destroy them, read on); 3
20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground. 21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains (nations), saith the Lord GOD: every man's sword shall be against his brother. 22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. 23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD" Ezekiel 38:3-23. More from Ezekiel on this battle, 3 And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand (utter destruction). 4 Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured. 5 Thou shalt fall upon the open field: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD. 6 And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD. 7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel. 8 Behold, it is come, and it is done, saith the Lord GOD; this is the day whereof I have spoken (2600 years ago). 9 And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years (will destroy all their weapons): 10 So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord GOD. 11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog. 4
12 And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land (will be numbered in the millions). 13 Yea, all the people of the land shall bury them; and it shall be to them a renown the day that I shall be glorified, saith the Lord GOD. 15 And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man's bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog (means valley of graves). 16 And also the name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they cleanse the land. 17 And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field, Assemble yourselves, and come; gather yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood (the fowl and animals will feed on the dead bodies). 18 Ye shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and drink the blood of the princes of the earth, of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of bullocks, all of them fatlings of Bashan. 19 And ye shall eat fat till ye be full, and drink blood till ye be drunken, of my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. 21 And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. 22 So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward" Ezekiel 39:1-22. Back to Revelation 20 10 And the devil (and his demons) that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are (This is a translation error, instead of "are" it should say "were cast" for the "beast" and "false prophet" were cast into the "lake of fire" prior to the 1000 year reign of Christ and were human beings and were burnt up, Revelation 19:20 but in contrast, Satan and His demons are spirit beings), and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever (We are told, "...depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels (demons)" Matthew 25:41. Also we are told Satan and His demons will be as Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars (they should have been a bright light for they were God s angels at one time but now are bad angels/demons), to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever they will not die for they are spirit beings but will be tormented in darkness forever Jude 13. Satan has been defeated forever by God). 5
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it (Christ), from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead (this is "the rest of the dead lived not until the thousand years were finished" Revelation 20:5), small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened (means Holy Bible which is closed spiritually to them now will be opened spiritually as in understanding for the first time and "judged by the law" Romans 2:12): and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. THIRD RESURRECTION BEGINS Say - The "third resurrection" includes the people which were once "called" of God and had accepted His call and had repented of their sins and were baptized and received His spirit and then returned to the world away from "The Way" of God. God tells us through Peter, " 20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world (false man-made religions which are contrary to the Laws of God) through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning (if once we learn the Truth of God and then go back to disobedience there is no 2nd chance). 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them (and there is only one Holy Law, God's)" 2 Peter 2:20-21. God tells us through Paul, " 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost (spirit), 5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, 6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame (Christ is not going to be sacrificed twice for anyone. He is not talking about giving into temptation for we repent but those which turn away and go back into disobedience of the former life before baptism). 7 (Now God explains it for us)for the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it (He is saying just as the earth receives it strength from the rain God sends, so God's people receive our strength and power from His spirit which nourishes us unto eternal life), and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God (the "blessing" is Salvation): 8 (In contrast)that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected (because this kind of "fruit" is not the "fruit" of God's spirit, love, mercy, joy, thanksgiving, Galatians 5:22, it is worthless, hurtful), and is nigh (near) unto cursing (death); whose end is to be burned" (the fate of the incorrigibly wicked) Hebrews 6:4-8. 6
Now let's read about the third resurrection in Revelation 20 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it (do you see they are not in heaven or hell as the world's religions teach); and death and hell (hole in the ground) delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works (this is the third resurrection and is the incorrigibly wicked humans who will have died once but will be resurrected to die again and "cast into the lake of fire" and will exist no more, will be ashes, Malachi 4:3). 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire" Revelation 20:7-15. Say - Now we will study Ezekiel 37 where the 2nd resurrection is described. I have printed the chapter for your convenience. EZEKIEL 37 This chapter is talking about the 2nd resurrection of the House of Israel as an example but means everyone who has never heard the truth of God 1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, 2 And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry (had been there for a long time). 3 And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. 4 Again he said unto me, Prophesy (speak) upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD (speaking of a physical resurrection not spiritual). 5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live (their air or human spirit will go back into them that God has reserved all this time; this is not taught in the world's religions today for they say they are in heaven or hell which is a man-made doctrine): 6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD (just like He did to Adam). 7
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone (the spirit of God, His power doing this). 8 And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them (formed humans but no life in them yet). 9 Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind (breath (ruwach), Strong's Concordance H7307, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live (the human spirit). 10 So I prophesied (spoke) as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. 11 Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel (the 12 tribes and the entire world): behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts (not that bones speak but God is repeating a lie they were taught from false religions). 12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves (not in heaven), and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel (the Promised Land, symbolic of the Kingdom of God). 13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves (a resurrection to the physical), 14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live (speaking of the New Spiritual Covenant), and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD Jeremiah wrote about this New Covenant which is the Covenant Christ talked about at the last supper with His disciples, please read, " 31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah (When all twelve tribes are back together again, see Ezekiel 37:16-22 below.) 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake (Exodus 20-24, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts (put it in their mind by my holy spirit); and will be their 8
God (husband), and they shall be my people (wife). How do you put it in their minds, by teaching and living God's way not man's way and when they hunger and thirst after the Truth of God they will become Him. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity (lawlessness/sin), and I will remember their sin no more (now most people do not know God they think they do but there is no intimacy because His spirit is not in them) Jeremiah 31:31-34. Back to Ezekiel 37 15 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, 16 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions (two separate nations): then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim and for all the house of Israel his companions: 17 And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand (represents the entire nation of Israel, all 12 tribes together, see vs. 22). 18 And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these? 19 Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand. 20 And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes. 21 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land, (Israel): 22 And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king (God) shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all (this is the future of the wife of God, the twelve tribes of Israel, some will be spirit beings, some will be physical until they mature). 23 Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwelling places, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them (when they repent): so shall they be my people (wife), and I will be their God (husband). 9
24 And David (will be a spirit being) my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. 25 And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever. 26 Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary (my home) in the midst of them for evermore. 27 My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people 28 And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore (when the Heavenly Jerusalem descends, Revelation 21, 22). Say The Last Great Day symbolizes the completion of God s plan for mankind and now we realize that all of God s Holy Days have a meaning and a purpose in His plan of Salvation that is why it is referred to as the Path of Life. Say After the Last Great Day and the destruction of the incorrigibly wicked Revelation 20:13-15 the New Jerusalem which is described in Revelation 20, 21, 22 will come down to the earth. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end Revelation 21:3-6. MEMORY VERSE And Jesus stood and cried, saying, if any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly (heart) shall flow rivers of living water John 7:37, 38 MEMORY VERSE FOR TOTS And Jesus stood and cried, saying if any man thirst, let him come unto me...john 7:37 SABBATH SCHOOL LESSON FOR TOTS BELOW 10
