From the Pastor s Desk P A G E 2 A Happy, Blessed and Prosperous New Year to the New Bethel Family! We thank God for bringing all of us through the year 2017, allowing us to see a brand new year, and for the opportunity to serve Him in a greater way in 2018. Two years ago, our theme was Anointed and Appointed for A Kingdom Assignment, where we focused on the assignment that God has called each of us to do. Our theme for last year was Connected and Committed to Kingdom Ministry with God, based on I Corinthians 3:9a, John 5:17 and John 6:38, with the focus on us being connected to God and what He is doing in the world around us, and committed to the kingdom work He has assigned for us to do. This year our church theme builds upon our previous themes and takes us to the next level of ministry. The theme we have been led to present to t h e c h u r c h f o r 2 0 1 8 i s Transformed into His Image, As We Serve for His Glory. Scripture references include, II Corinthians 3:18 and I Peter 4:11 (NET). We want to focus our attention on God s work in us, as He transforms us into what He calls us to be, that we might accomplish what He calls us to do more effectively and for the right motive. God is doing a work in us that He might accomplish His work through us. According to Romans 8:29, He has ordained that each of us who belong to Him be conformed to the image of His Son, so that we might glorify Him as His Son Jesus did while He was here on this earth. God s desire concerning His children is for the world to see Jesus through us as we serve Him and fulfill our assignment from Him. We are to be the living manifestation of His presence today in the world around us. That s why God has to transform us from what we were and are, into the image of His Son, which is indeed, a lifelong process that He takes us through to develop Christ-like character within each of us. Our focus and goal this year as a church and as individual believers in His church, is to become more of a reflection of Him in our character as we serve to bring Him glory. In other words, we want Christ to be seen in 2018. As we begin the year 2018 we want to continue our focus on the Kingdom of God and renew our commitment to God and the ministry of His kingdom. Our task is still to discover what God is doing and then allow His Spirit to direct us in how we are to join Him in His work. The key phrases and focus for this year s theme as we continue to serve, however, are In His Image and For His Glory! We as members of Christ s body and His church here at New Bethel, want to experience and be able to see how God is transforming us for the work He s calling us to do. In addition, we want all that we do in ministry to be for the expressed purpose of glorifying Him. As we move forward into the year 2018, let us keep our theme ever before us in all that we do with God in His kingdom work. The New Year represents new opportunity and another chance to fulfill the call of God on our lives and for the ministry of His church. Each of us have been called by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit to engage ourselves in the area of ministry we ve been assigned by Him. Let us unite our hearts and minds under the banner of our church theme and commit ourselves to whatever process He takes us through to transform us for His glory. Leadership Training Our annual Leadership Training is scheduled for Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. for all General Officers, Deacons, Deaconess, Trustees, Ministry Heads, Associate Ministers, Administrative Staff and any other person who is in leadership or aspires to leadership. It is designed to update all leaders on new policies and procedures, communicate the vision as it relates to our goals and focus for ministry this year as well as establishing our leadership roles and responsibilities as they relate to the overall ministry of the church. See you there!
