The attendance at any sacramental celebration such as a baptism, wedding, First Eucharist or Confirmation or at any Roman Catholic Church may be utilized in the completion of this journal. FAMILY FAITH SHARING It is strongly encouraged that parents spend time with their child making sure that each of the following prayers has been memorized. In modeling the faith, parents can direct their children in nightly or morning prayers. Making the Sign of the Cross on your child s forehead each morning upon rising or before bedtime each night is a wonderful way to be mindful of our call to put God ever present in our day. Prayers can be found in the back of the student workbook. Sign of the Cross Our Father Hail Mary Glory Be Act of Contrition In the spring of the grade 6 year of instruction, all students will participate in an interview with a priest or staff members to assess personal readiness for our 2-year Confirmation program. In addition to the memorization of the prayers that our students began learning in first grade, they should be able to articulate an understanding of the following basis of our Catholic faith: What does it mean to pray? What are the Seven Sacraments? Who is Jesus? What do Catholics believe regarding the Eucharist? Why do we believe as Catholics, that weekly Mass attendance is important? Who is our parish patron saint? Who is our Pope? Making the time to have a faith sharing opportunity when you are together, whether it is sharing a meal at home or out, traveling in the car or quiet family time together at home, will enrich and strengthen the relationship shared with each other and with God.
