The Banner The Lord is My Banner. Exodus 17:15 May 17, 2018 First Baptist Church, Cuero www.fbccuero.org A Note From The Pastor Thank you again to all who are bringing food and expressing concern for Lori and me during this time of her illness. We are hoping to get specific information about surgery this week, providing the Lord does not provide a miracle beforehand. I am also encouraged that many of you have found the sermon series to be beneficial. This week I will speak on the love language of giving gifts. The title will be: Gifting Love: Chasing the Lover. There is only one passage I found in which Jesus actually offers to give a gift to someone. In Revelation 2:17, Jesus offers to give a new name, a secret name, to those who overcome tribulation. However, the greatest gift Jesus has given is Himself. Jesus gave us the gift of eternal life by taking up our sins on the cross to make us holy before God. God is a giving God. Everything He does seems to be about giving life and blessings to us. Giving represents the heart of God. In marriage, what better place to practice the art of giving than with your mate. A note on the quarterly business meeting. Due to the lunch for graduating Seniors, the business meeting will be moved back to 1:15 pm. It will be held in the Senior Sunday School classroom. Note: We will not provide a meal. Please return after your lunch for the meeting. See you Sunday, Glenn Larry s Notes VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL My family was not active in church while I was growing up. However, I do remember several VBS experiences that made a big and positive impression on me. The combination of crafts, recreation, and music reinforced the Bible study and laid a foundation for my salvation experience as a teenager. We will host our Vacation Bible School at First Baptist on Monday - Friday, June 4-8. That is not far away. It s time to get into VBS mode. VBS will be on the church campus each day from 8:30 to noon. There are several things that anyone can do to help VBS. Obviously, you can volunteer to help. We need continued on next page

folks who will directly work with the kids in their classes for Bible study. We will need people who will help with snacks, crafts, and recreation. We will need van drivers and people who will just herd the children from one place to the next. Can t be there all day, everyday? Help when you can! Second, you can help recruit and even transport children in your family, neighborhood, or circle of friends. Bring em all! Third, you can pray. Even if you are unable to work or recruit children, you can pray. God used VBS in my life. The Gospel was presented to me and the seeds were sown that later produced the fruit of salvation. Pray that this will happen for all of the children this June. Pray for them by name if you know any of the students individually. Pray for the teachers and workers that they will be sensitive to the Lord and the Holy Spirit s guidance as they minister to the kids. Pray that we will have a safe, positive, and encouraging environment to help the students open up to the Bible message. Do it - pray! Camp payments due: Initial camp payments were due last week. If you have yet to turn yours in, please do so as soon as possible. If you need a reminder for what your balance due is, please be in touch with me. Summer is coming! While many of our church programs wind down for the Summer, the youth ministry actually picks up our pace a bit. Given that the youth don t have school and extracurriculars are low key in the summer, we will be having opportunities for the youth to have some fun together and to grow in Christ. Be in prayer for our youth, that we build strong relationships and that we can take advantage of all this time to grow in our walk with Christ. If you are interested in walking with us, there are still spots available for sponsors to go to camp. Camp is an awesome opportunity for you to get to know the youth and to have a profound impact on their spiritual growth. The Lord can use you. Come with us!
