8:45 worship We Gather to Worship God Piano Prelude: Many and Great John Carter (Red Hymnal 27) Choral Prelude: The Heavens Declare the Glory of God words: vs 1, Psalm 19 vs. 2-3, Arie Staal music: Willard Zirk The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. The heavens declare, the skies proclaim the work of his hands, the glory of God. The firmament, too, shows forth his praise; its foundations sure, his endless glory. They shall his reign forever proclaim, thus bringing forth glory to his name. The ends of the earth, the reaches of space declare that the Lord eternally reigns. The creatures of earth are formed by his hand. Earth s tumults and storms are stilled at his command. God rules in might; his world he sustains. People called forth sing praise to his name. Give homage to him; his glory proclaim. All nature sings praise to our glorious king. Welcome *Call to Worship (responsive) Thom Shuman, Lectionary Liturgies When God speaks, all creation answers: the pale winter moon cries, Glory! the sun hums a song as it warms the earth. When God speaks, lives are changed: those held hostage by oppression are set free; the voiceless shout the story of salvation. When God speaks, everything is turned inside out: the wise learn the language of grace from little children; the strong take lessons from the powerless. *Hymn of God s Covenant Faithfulness You Are Our God; We Are Your People Red Hymnal 35 *Please stand if you are able.

*We Receive God s Greeting and Greet One Another Children s Time (Children in the Preschool Church Hour Class dismissed to Room 27.) We Are Renewed by God s Grace Song of Preparation from Green Songbook 49 Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. (repeat) Prayer of Confession Merciful God, You pardon all who truly repent and turn to you. We humbly confess our sins and ask your mercy. We have not loved you with a pure heart, nor have we loved our neighbor as ourselves. We have not done justice, loved kindness, or walked humbly with you, our God. (all sing) Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. (repeat) Cast us not away from your presence, O Lord, and take not your Holy Spirit from us. Restore unto us the joy of your salvation, and renew a right spirit within us. Words of Assurance Through Jesus Christ forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. In Christ we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace. *Affirmation: Why We Do Good Works Heidelberg Catechism Q & A 86 Red Hymnal 731 Since we have been delivered from our misery by grace through Christ without any merit of our own, why then should we do good works?

Because Christ, having redeemed us by his blood, is also restoring us by his Spirit into his image, so that with our whole lives we may show that we are thankful to God for his benefits, so that he may be praised through us, so that we may be assured of our faith by its fruits, and so that by our godly living our neighbors may be won over to Christ. Prayers of the People We Present our Gifts & Offerings for: The Lord s work through AACRC Choral Offertory: Offertory With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, shall I come before him with yearling calves? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I give him my first born for my transgressions, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown to you all, he has shown you what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice and to love kindness, and to walk humbly, walk humbly with your God? We Are Fed by God s Word and Table John Ness Beck Bible Reading: Micah 6:1-8 page 1447 Message: Just Another Burden? We Celebrate the Lord s Supper The Institution and Invitation This morning we celebrate communion. All who love Jesus Christ, trust in him alone for their salvation, and agree to be his disciple are invited to join with us in this celebration. With thanks and joy, take the bread and dip it into the cup. If you are unable to proceed to the front of the sanctuary to partake of communion, remain seated and the elements will be brought to you.

11:15 worship Prelude Welcome We Worship God with Thankful Hearts *Gathering Song: Gather Us In Red Hymnal 529 *We Receive God s Greeting and Greet One Another Children s Time (Children in the Preschool Church Hour Class dismissed to Room 27.) *Song of Acclamation: Better Is One Day Responsive Confession of Faith and Intent from Micah 6, Psalm 15 (NLT and The Message) and 1 Cor. 1:18-31] We have gathered here, at God s invitation, to worship him whose foolishness is wiser than any human wisdom, whose weakness is stronger than any human strength. We come, because we want to be where God is. But who are we to think we can stand in God s presence? What can we humans offer such a God as ours? People of God, we dare to stand before our God not in our own wisdom or strength, but through Jesus Christ, who has become for us wisdom from God that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. And so we bring to God the only thing he requires of us: our willingness to be people of justice and mercy Kingdom people who live in humble fellowship with God. We come because we desire to stand in God s presence and live in God s house. So we declare our intention to be Kingdom people: people who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts; people who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends; people who despise the despicable, honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts; people who make an honest living, and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent. *Please stand if you are able.

All: In the grace of Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we will be people who walk humbly with our God, and so stand firm in God s love forever. *Song of Response: Friends in Faith Green Songbook 135 Prayers of the People We Present our Gifts & Offerings for: The Lord s work through AACRC Offertory We Walk with God with Thankful Lives Bible Reading: Micah 6:1-8 page 1447 Message: Just Another Burden? MISSIONS FOCUS JOEL & JEANNIE HUYSER, CRWM TEXAS Praise: 1. Jeannie and I had a great couple of weeks in Pella, Iowa, visiting churches and staying in the apartment of my mother. We are so grateful that my Mom is still in such good health. Our Iowa supporters are always such an encouragement to us. I very much enjoyed the coffee times with area pastors. 2. I (Joel) am so grateful for the restoration of my health. I have been exercising at a fitness center 2-4 times a week and am realizing that I now have the energy I had 10-20 years ago. Praise God! Prayer: 1. I (Joel) have been named to wear two hats in the New Mission Agency (name still to be chosen). 50% of my time will be spent supervising our teams of missionaries in Asia and Latin America. The other 50% will be invested in continuing to coach emerging transformational networks. Because both of these hats need a lot of up front time in building strong teams I am looking at a very busy next six months. Please pray that I keep my relationship with the Lord and my marriage and family the priority and that in my work I focus my energy on the most important things, not necessarily the most urgent things. 2. Pray for the search team that will choose a director for the New Mission Agency. Pray that God would lead them to the right candidate. 3. Pray for the women at the Center where Jeannie teaches English as a Second Language. The Center lost funding for its preschool program at this is causing a lot of anxiety for the mothers in the program.
