Service of Worship Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost October 15, 2017 Eleven o clock in the morning Bridging Faith and Learning The Golden Calf, from The Nuremberg Chronicle, 1493 In this morning s Old Testament reading, Moses is upon the mountain talking with God. Meanwhile, the Israelites decide to construct and worship an idol of a golden calf. The Lord turns aside from fierce wrath against the people s idolatry only after Moses implores mercy. In Matthew s Gospel, Jesus tells the parable of the wedding banquet. The king casts a guest without a wedding robe into the outer darkness, and Jesus concludes, For many are called, but few are chosen.

The congregation is invited to reflect silently during the prelude as a time of prayer and meditation. The Chapel welcomes families with children.
