Royal Lane Baptist Church Diverse People United in Christ THE MOSAIC June 20, 2012 Volume 26 Issue 12 From the Pastor Weather is always news. Good weather, bad weather, hot or cold weather.. we praise it or grumble about it. I grew up in Texas, but had never seen golf-ball-size hail until Wednesday of last week at church, of all places. Some of it was larger than golf balls, and you know that I never exaggerate! We Wednesday-nighters observed it all from the south windows of Family Hall, and several observed that it might be a sign we shouldn t come to church on Wednesday nights, especially since it isn t in the Bible! This week we ve been dealing with the damage to both of our cars. And, as if that weren t enough, Thursday morning of last week our AC at home gave up the ghost. It was one of those times when I wished I knew some profanity! Life is a mixed bag. Ambiguous is a good word for life, sometimes good, sometimes bad like the weather! We can t take it personally, because it is the same for everyone. We are not being singled out or punished for our sins. Usually our sins become their own punishment. Bad weather and mechanical failures do not discriminate. They come to all of us sooner or later, or both. The thing I will remember about the hail storm of 2012 is where I was and who I was with. To be at the church, and with church-family members, on such an occasion made a big difference. It helped keep things in perspective. Being together, we sensed that everything would eventually be o.k. There was even some joking and some laughter. The church will need a new roof, but that s life. The church is people, and when we are together it makes a big difference. David New Members, Pentecost Sunday Marie Lurson & Felipe Monsalve, May 27, 2012 joined RLBC on June 10, 2012.
