Held at Notre Dame of Mount Carmel Parish, Cedar Knolls, NJ, and St. Paul Inside the Walls: The Catholic Center 2

for Evangelization at Bayley-Ellard, Madison, NJ, the retreats consider the power of forgiveness through the inspiring lens of Scripture, great books, music and film. With music, prayer and conversation, each of the seven days is designed to lead retreatants on a transformative journey of forgiveness from spiritual imprisonment to true freedom, so that they may be able to experience, as Pope Francis encourages, the joy of forgiveness. Insights from Bernard Lonergan. Lecture, by Professor Jeremy Wilkins, Director of the Lonergan Research Institute, Toronto, Canada, in the Seminary s Chapel of Christ the Good Shepherd, on January 29, 2015. Mission and Service! Deacon Andrew E. Saunders, M.A. 08, Director, Center for Diaconal Formation: o Served as lecturer and facilitator for a Theological Reflection on the role of the laity in infusing a Christian mentality into the world. Deacon Saunders offered this presentation, which referenced select Vatican II documents and St. John Paul II s 1987 address to lay Catholics, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Ridgewood, NJ, on October 27, 2014. o Served as co-host and master of ceremonies for the Region III General Assembly for Deacons, held in Lancaster, PA, from December 5-6, 2014. This biannual gathering includes deacons, candidates and wives from the dioceses in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The theme of the assembly was Holy Orders, Family and the New Evangelization.! Jeffrey L. Morrow, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Undergraduate Theology, presented the following lectures, for parents of students in the CCD program at Church of the Assumption, Roselle Park, NJ: o The Moral Life. (Oxon.), Associate Professor of Biblical Studies, presented an Advent Reflection on the Mystery of the Incarnation, for Seton Hall University Campus Ministry, at Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ, on November 13, 2014.! Dianne M. Traflet, J.D. 88, S.T.D., Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Administration, Assistant Professor of Pastoral Theology, and Founder and Director, Institute for Christian Spirituality, presented Prayer: Spiritual Lessons from Martha and Mary. Gadenz, S.S.L., S.T.D., Associate Professor of Biblical Studies, published a book chapter: Overcoming the Hiatus between Exegesis and Theology: Guidance and Examples from Pope Benedict XVI. In Verbum Domini and the Complementarity of Exegesis and Theology, edited by Scott Carl, 41-62. Grand Rapids, MI: Eerdmans Publishing, 2015.! Reverend Thomas G. Guarino, K.H.S., S.T.D., Professor of Systematic Theology, as co-chairman of Evangelicals and Catholics Together (ECT), was an author and signatory of the statement The Two Shall Become One Flesh: Reclaiming Marriage, published in First Things, no. 251 (March 2015): 23-31. Father Guarino also gave a podcast interview on The Two Shall Become One Flesh. The dinner was held in San Diego, CA, on November 22, 2014. o Chaired a panel discussion on William Portier s Divided Friends (CUA Press, 2013) and a second session devoted to Alfred Loisy s correspondence with Franz Cumont, at the conference of La Société Internationale d Études sur Alfred Loisy, San Diego, CA, on November 23, 2014.! Reverend Thomas G. Guarino, K.H.S., S.T.D., Professor of Systematic Theology, co-chaired a meeting of Evangelicals and Catholics Together (ECT), in New York City, on December 8, 2014. In early 2015, ECT released a statement titled The Two Shall Become One Flesh: Reclaiming Marriage. 7
