L epers Share the Good New s Scripture: 2Kings 6:24-7:20 When Jehoram was reigning over the Israel, the people of Syria attacked Israel. Syrians besieged the city of Samaria. In the city the people suffered the shortage of food and the price was skyrocketing. Some people, in desperate starvation, even cooked and ate their children. King Jehoram sent a messenger to Elisha the Prophet. Elisha said, Tomorrow at this time, the price of the food will go down significantly. The officer whom King Jehoram sent did not believe Elisha. Even if God would make windows in heaven, could this thing be? There were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate to Samaria. These leprous men were abandoned from living in the city. They spoke to each other, Even if we enter the city, we shall die from famine. And if we sit here, we will die also. Let's surrender to the army of Syrians and live. They arose and went to the camp of the Syrians. To their surprise, no one was there. The Syrian army had fled leaving behind them all the gold, silver, clothes, and food. God cause the army of the Syrians to hear the noise of chariots and horses - the noise of a great army and they fled in fear. The lepers ate and drank, hid gold, silver, and clothes. But they changed their minds. We are not doing right. This da is a day of good news, and we remain silent. If we wait until morning light, some punishment will come upon us. Now therefore, come, let us go and tell the king's household.

The king of Israel sent his servants to verify the truthfulness of the news and it was confirmed true. The news spread and the people of Israel went out and plundered the tents of the Syrians and took for themselves gold, silver, clothes, and great amount of food. Sadly, the officer who didn't believe Elisha was trampled by the people as he stood by the gate when the news spread.
