July 8, 2018 Bible Story Focus: The Bible tells me God made me the way I am. You Are Wonderfully Made Psalm 139:14 Memory Verse: I have hidden your word in my heart. Psalm 119:11, NIV Key Question: What is with you wherever you go? Bottom Line: God s Word is with me wherever I go. Basic Truth: God made me. God loves me. Jesus wants to be my friend forever. Social: Providing Time for Fun Interaction (Small Groups, 15 minutes) Activities that encourage preschoolers to enter the classroom and begin engaging with peers and Small Group Leaders by providing age appropriate and hands on fun while introducing new concepts they will hear in the day s Bible story. 1. Coloring Sheet-introduces the Bible story/concept 2. Theme Table- Which way to go! Kids can play with cars, trucks and bikes on the city mat on the theme table. Be sure to point out the cones with the memory verse and bottom line! Reinforce the bottom line and memory verse as they play. Give them directions to move their cars in certain directions. Talk about how God gives us directions in our lives through the Bible! Key Question: What tells you which way to go? Children Respond: Bottom Line: The Bible Tells me which way to go! 3. Outside Time-See Playground Safety Guidelines, at 15 min after service starts you may take your children out weather permitting Gather children for a Large Group time that includes interactive worship and the Bible story. Some kids (especially the younger ones) may wander. That s OK. They re still listening and learning! Worship: Inviting People to Respond to God Engage kids hearts through dynamic and interactive worship. Story: Communicating God s Truth in Engaging Ways Engage kids hearts through a dynamic and interactive Bible story and prayer experience. What You Need: A Bible, Handprint Story Symbol Activity Page, white cardstock, scissors, and the Story Symbols from June Weeks 1-4 and July Week 1 Before the Story: Make a copy of Handprint Story Symbol on white cardstock and cut the pictures apart. During the Story: Place the Handprint Story Symbol inside the Bible. You will open the Bible and show the children the symbol during the story time. Have the Bible Story Symbol, Heart Story Symbol, Praying Hands Story Symbol, Smiley Face Story Symbol, and Globe Story Symbol from June Weeks 1-4 and July Week 1 ready to review with the children. Options for Review: You can tape the symbols to a wall at the children s eye level, place them on a storyboard, or simply lay them on the floor in front of the children as you review them. LEADER: It s story time! I want (name each child if you can) to come sit with me. I have a very special book with me. It s called the... (hold up Bible) Bible! (Lay the Bible open in front of you and clap as you cheer for the Bible.) Yay for the Bible! The Bible has God s words in it, and it is always true. (Hold up the Bible Story Symbol from June Week 1.) (Lay the Bible picture down in front of the children and hold up the Heart Story Symbol. ) This heart reminds us that the Bible tells us to love everyone. Give yourself a really big hug like this. (Hug yourself.) God wants us to love everyone! (Lay the heart picture down beside the Bible picture and hold up the Praying Hands These praying hands reminds us that the Bible tells us we can talk to God. Say, Hey, God! You re the best! (Lay the praying hands picture down beside the heart picture and hold up the Smiley Face This smiley face picture reminds us that the Bible tells us to share with others and sharing makes people have a smiley face! Show me your smiley face. (Smile at the children.) Those are great smiley faces! (Lay the smiley face picture down beside the praying hands and hold up the Globe This picture of the world reminds us that we can take God s Word with us wherever we go. Make a great big circle over your head with your arms like this. (Demonstrate.) The world is SOOOOO big! It s where all the people live. The Bible says we can take God s Word with us wherever we go in the whole world! (Lay the globe picture down beside the smiley face picture and hold up the Handprint What is this? This is a hand. Hold up your hands and wiggle your fingers like this. (Demonstrate.) This hand picture reminds us that God made us. That s right! The Bible says God made you! Point to yourself and say, God made me! CHILDREN and LEADER: God made me! (Lay the handprint picture down beside the globe picture.) LEADER: When we remember that God made us, we can take God s Word with us wherever we go. I pray they grow up knowing that You made them and love them. We love You, God. In Jesus name, amen. Groups: Creating a Safe Place to Connect (Small Groups, 15 minutes) Create a safe place to connect through activities that are written to reach every learning style while reinforcing the Bottom Line that was introduced during the Bible Story and applying it to real life experiences. In addition, these activities provide preschoolers with an opportunity to build relationships with their Small Group Leader. 1. Memory Verse with Motions Hear from God Memory Verse Review Made to Move: An activity that uses a preschooler s natural desire to move to help them learn What You Need: No supplies needed Before the Activity: Say the memory verse and do the following motions in front of the children: I have hidden (thumbs to chest) your word (both hands point up) in my heart (cover heart with hands). Psalm 119:11 (Hold out hands like a book.) During the Activity: Say the verse again with the motions and invite the children to do it with you. Repeat several times. What You Say: Before the Activity: I am going to say our new Memory Verse today. Everyone watch me! 2. Follow the Signs Talk About God Bible Story Review Made to Create: An activity that allows preschoolers to review the Bible story, Bottom Line, or memory verse by creating a craft What You Need: White Circle and Handprint Parent Activity Option 2 Activity Pages, paper plates (1 per child), painter s sticks (1 per child), glue, tape, white cardstock, scissors, washable tempera paint/large stamp pad, and wet wipes During the Activity: The children will glue a white circle to one side of a paper plate. They will then glue a Handprint Parent Activity Option 2 to the other side of the paper plate. Once Handprint Symbol 2 and Handprint Parent Activity Option 2 are glued in place, assist the children in placing their handprint in the center of the road sign. Have wet wipes ready for easy clean up. What You Say: Before the Activity: I want everyone to hold your hands up like this. (Hold your hands up.) Do you know that no one in the whole wide world has the same fingerprints as you? (Pause.) It s true! When God made you, He gave you special, one-of-a-kind fingerprints. But that s not all. Everything about you is special! The Bible says you are wonderfully made. I think wonderful is pretty awesome! Today we are going to make a sign with our one-of-a-kind hands to help us remember that God made us and that makes us very special. During the Activity: I m going to give each of you a handprint picture and a stick. I will come around and put paint on your wonderful hand and then you can make your wonderful handprint inside the circle on the page. (Option 2 will glue the Handprint Symbol 2 to one side of the paper plate and Handprint Parent Activity Option 2 to the other side of the plate and then to the stick.) Once everyone has a Handprint Symbol road sign made: Wow! Your signs look amazing! They truly are one-of-a-kind! When you remember that you are wonderfully made by God, you are taking God s words with you wherever you go, because God said He made you, and you are wonderful!
