2017 - Term 2 Course Descriptions Title Z Number of Chapters CEUs Ministry Study Track Level Prison Epistles: Colossians, Philemon, Ephesians, & Philippians Z 1 Chp. CEUs Level 1 Believers wanting a clearer and deeper understanding of Paul s letters written to the early church believers during his imprisonment. The Word of God cannot be confined in a prison! Your study will focus on practical and spiritual principles Paul wrote to the churches during his imprisonment. The concepts are presented in language that is easy to understand with explanations, illustrations, and applications that make the concepts helpful to students in both their personal lives and ministries. Introduction to Hermeneutics: How to Interpret the Bible Z 1 Chp. CEUs Level 1 Believers and ministry leaders desiring to improve their teaching and preaching skills through correct interpretation of scripture. The truth of the Word of God has not changed in 2017! This is an introductory course on the principles for interpreting Scripture. It summarizes the need for hermeneutic principles and explores the qualifications, tools, and goals of a biblical interpreter. This is followed by a historical survey of hermeneutics from early Jewish interpreters to the present. The course includes a unit on the general and specific principles for interpreting the Bible, a unit on genres, and a unit on applying the principles. Students develop skills by practicing the principles in the provided exercises.. If God has called you to preach and teach, you will benefit greatly from this course. Romans: Justification by Faith Z 8 Chp. CEUs Level 2 Believers wanting to grow their leadership skills to better lead themselves and those God will call them to lead. A detailed study of what God has done for us in Jesus Christ (Rm. 8:). Paul touches on every major doctrine of our faith, including sin, salvation, and sanctification. Yet, he does more than teach theology: he teaches that behavior follows genuine belief and urges his readers to put his teaching into practice. God provides a Helper the Holy Spirit who empowers us to walk in victory and honor Christ. Each chapter includes sermon notes by Dr. Richard Dresselhaus who previously served as Interim Pastor at Calvary Temple Church. Corinthian Correspondence Z 11 Chp. CEUs Level Believers desiring to learn the practical teaching and doctrines presented by Paul the early Christians at Corinth. There will be challenges to deal with in today s local churches! A study of 1 and 2 Corinthians, providing the student with truths for teaching and preaching as well as practical assistance in dealing with the issues facing today s church. The student will learn how Paul instructed the Corinthians to deal with division and difficulty. By applying these same principles, the student will be prepared to deal with the challenges of ministry in the twenty-first century. Ministerial Internships* Z 12 Chp. CEUs Levels 1, 2, MINISTRY STUDENTS ONLY * Ministry leaders seeking credentials and who have completed all courses in each respective level of the Ministerial Study Program. Get equipped! These three required internships for the Ministerial Studies diploma, helps the student develop the right attitude for ministry. It examines characteristics to be avoided and tests to be passed in the life of a minister. It further focuses on public aspects of ministry, such as teaching, preaching, and leading meetings. The personal life of the minister, including time management and personal health are also discussed.
