PREPARE Water from the Rock Read Exodus 17:1-7 The children of Israel moved their camp to Rephidim. Where else had they been since leaving Egypt? (See Numbers 33:5-12.) What was the defining characteristic about this particular move (v. 1)? How did their complaint in Rephidim (v. 2) differ from that in Marah (Exodus 15:24)? Moses cried out to the Lord about the people. What did he tell God (v. 4)? God told Moses to strike the rock for water. How did Moses know which particular rock to strike (v. 6)? 2 Exodus Chapter 17

What was Moses battle plan (v. 9)? What caused Israel to prevail during the battle with the Amalekites (v. 11)? PRACTICE Perhaps God has told you to do something seemingly illogical, like strike a rock. What should you do about God s instructions? PROTECT Meditate upon how God gave Joshua victory over the Amalekites and how He has the power to grant you victory over your spiritual adversaries.
