Our pantry will be open on October 23rd Fruit, meat, and staple items are needed (except green beans and corn). Cleaning supplies and toiletries are much appreciated. On September 30 th people will be gathering at Whiteville Methodist Church to fight hunger. To prepare 20 thousand or more meal packages. Each package is a nutritious meal for 4 people. Volunteers are needed. They need some strong people to unload trucks and others, not as strong to pack the meals. That job can be done sitting. Unloading will start at 8:00 am and meal packing will start no earlier than 8:45. If you are interested contact Kay Horne and she will have coordinator Vickie Pait contact you. Episcopal Relief & Development reminds us not to send food, clothing or other items because affected dioceses have limited or no capacity to receive, store or distribute goods. It is more efficient and better for the local economy to make a donation. As our fellow Episcopalians minister to those in need they need our help not just now or in the short term, but for the long haul. Our support of Episcopal Relief & Development is a tangible, practical, effective and reliable way to do that. Keep in your prayers the people in Texas, Louisiana, Florida and the Caribbean, The Vestry voted to give the balance of our Hurricane Matthew Relief Fund to Community CPR (Connecting People with Resources), a local non-profit providing direct support to families in the Fair Bluff area and beyond. Junior Warden, Susan Wood, provided an update on the extensive cleaning and repairs being done at Grace House. Estimates for blacktopping the drive behind Grace House are being acquired. Senior Warden, Bill Horne will get clarification of how many voting delegates Grace can send to Convention. Pricing and replacement information of The Episcopal Church Welcomes You signs throughout our county will be gathered and reported next month. The next Vestry meeting will be Tuesday, October 10. Mark November 5 th, 4 pm for a special event. Grace Church and Christ the King are sponsoring an Organ Concert to raise money for Matthew 25. Jamie Faulk is organizing this concert and has invited several other talented area musicians to join him. He will be performing his original composition, which was inspired by Matthew 25. Susan Deans is chairing the event. Contact her to volunteer your help.
