First Partial Report Re: Book of Order revision The Church Order of the Unitas Fratrum (COUF, 2009, Chapter XIII, 683) states, In the event that an ordained minister is received from another denomination, the Provincial Board is free to receive him or her as a Deacon or Presbyter as it deems appropriate, and The Book of Order, Northern Province (2010, Chapter III, 204 g) states, In the event of the reception of an ordained minister from another denomination into the ordained ministry of the Moravian Church, the minister shall be received as a Deacon. Second Partial Report Re: Report to the 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church Northern Province - Lutheran-Moravian Coordinating Committee the committee on relationships with others reviewed the report from The Lutheran-Moravian Coordinating Committee (LMCC), and this committee learned about concrete examples of how this partnership is being carried out in areas of mission and disaster relief, leadership and clergy exchanges, collaborative vacation Bible schools and youth ministries, outreach ministries, the sharing of facilities, among others, and this committee appreciates the work of the Lutheran Moravian Coordinating Committee for their work in encouraging collaborative ministries and activities; therefore be it (2) The 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church Northern Province accepts with gratitude the Report from the Lutheran-Moravian Coordinating Committee as written, and be it further (3) The 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church commends the Lutheran-Moravian Coordinating Committee and encourages the continuation of collaborative ministries and outreach.
Third Partial Report Re: Report to the 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church Northern Province - Moravian-Episcopal Coordinating Committee the committee on relationships with others reviewed the report from The Moravian-Episcopal Coordinating Committee (MECC, and this committee appreciates the work of the Moravian-Episcopal Coordinating Committee for their work in determining how to carry out full communion between the two denominations and how to communicate this to both clergy and laypersons; therefore be it (4) The 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church Northern Province accepts with gratitude the Report from the Moravian-Episcopal Coordinating Committee as written, and be it further (5) The 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church commends the Moravian-Episcopal Coordinating Committee and encourages the continuation of collaborative ministries and outreach.
Fourth Partial Report Re: Report to the 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church Northern Province - The dialogue with the United Methodist Church the committee on Relationships with Others reviewed the report on the dialogue with the United Methodist Church and, this committee appreciates the dialogue team for their work in determining how to move toward a full communion agreement; therefore be it (6) The 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church Northern Province accepts with gratitude the report of the dialogue with the United Methodist Church as written, and be it further (7) The 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church Northern Province commends those individuals who participated in the dialogue with the United Methodist Church and encourages the continuation of efforts to move toward full communion.
Fifth Partial Report Re: Report of the Ecumenical Officer to Northern Provincial Synod 2014 the committee on Relationships with Others reviewed the report of the Ecumenical Officer to the 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church Northern Province, and this committee appreciates Brother Hermann Weinlick s role as the volunteer Ecumenical Officer for the Moravian Church Northern Province and his passionate dedication to ecumenism while in retirement. Brother Weinlick goes above and beyond expectations and is an outstanding steward of provincial resources; therefore be it (8) The 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church Northern Province accepts with gratitude the report of the Ecumenical Officer to the Northern Provincial Synod as written, and be it further (9) The 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church Northern Province commends Brother Hermann Weinlick for his dedication to the role of Ecumenical Officer.
Sixth Partial Report Re: Ecumenical Mission Moravian congregations and individuals have been involved in ecumenical missions for many years, and Moravian Disaster Response, Northeast Moravian Disaster Response, and North Dakota Moravian Mission Society have been involved in ecumenical disaster response and rebuilding, and other Moravian congregations have been involved in ecumenical ministries within their own local areas, and mission is a way of life and not just a trip, therefore be it (10) The 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church Northern Province commends those congregations, organizations, and individuals who continue to be involved in ecumenical mission efforts; and be it further (11) The 2014 Synod of the Moravian Church Northern Province encourages local congregations, groups, and individuals involved in ecumenical mission to avail themselves of the Director of Mission Engagement from the Board of World Mission for educational, promotional, and program assistance.
Seventh and Final Report Re: Youth delegate exchange to the national youth conferences and youth activities with our ecumenical partners the Moravian Church in North America, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and the Episcopal Church are working toward fuller communion, and encouraging combined youth efforts with our ecumenical partners will work toward normalizing the tri-fold communion between the Moravian Church in North America, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and the Episcopal Church, therefore be it (12) Participation in ecumenical youth events such as camp, mission projects, retreats, youth groups, and other youth events shall be strongly encouraged by the Provincial Elders Conference, and the Moravian Church in North America, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and the Episcopal Church host national youth gatherings every few years, therefore be it (13) Funds of up to $6,000 shall be designated to provide scholarships for six youth delegates from the Moravian Church Northern Province, to participate in the national youth gathering of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (July 15-19, 2015 in Detroit), and funds of up to $6,000 shall be designated to provide scholarships for six youth delegates from the Moravian Church in North America to participate in the Episcopal Youth Event (EYE) (2017, TBD); and be it further (14) Delegates who receive scholarship monies to attend the national youth gathering for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in 2015 or the Episcopal Youth Event in 2017 would be expected to report back to their local congregations and their respective district regarding their experiences at these events; and be it further (15) Invitations for youth delegates should be sent to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the Episcopal Church for the 2017 Youth Convocation for the Moravian Church in North America; and be it further (16) The Provincial Elders Conference is asked to explore the possibility of planning a combined international youth gathering for the year 2020 inviting all available youth from the Moravian Church in North America, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and the Episcopal Church to participate.
