PRAYER OF THE DAY Loving God, We thank you that your Son Jesus is the good shepherd who cares for your people. Open our hearts to hear his voice, to know him as he calls us by name, and to follow wherever he leads. For he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. Please keep the following people in your prayers: Please pray for Greg Mason and his fellow volunteers from Kairos Prison Ministry this coming week as they present a program at Mannus Prison, near Tumbarumba, from 8 th 12 th May. Please ask God to bless their efforts as they seek to fulfil the mission of Kairos To share the transforming love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to impact the hearts and lives of incarcerated men, women, and youth, as well as their families, to become loving and productive citizens of their communities. They have a bimonthly prayer diary. Following is a brief daily prayer list for this week. The full diary can be found at https://barnabasfund.org/get-involved/pray Sunday 7 May: Pray for the Middle East as the turmoil escalates in this region. We pray that the plans of the those who work for violence and injustice will be foiled, and be a help and shield to Your people in the region. Monday 8 May: Iraqi Christians rejoice at the liberation of the Plains of Ninevah and the city of Mosul from the Islamic State. Pray for those who were previously displaced and would like to return home. Pray for God s guidance for these families. Tuesday 9 May: Pray for Christians who attended a seminar in Kuwait on the theme Trust your Bible that they are encouraged and strengthened in their faith. Wednesday 10 May: Pray for Malaysian pastor Raymond Koh who was kidnapped on 13 February that he may be released or rescued. Thursday 11 May: On March 16 Pakistan s Interior Minister announced that Pakistan will represent the global Muslim community on the issue of content on social media platforms. Pray for protection of freedom of speech and religious liberty as many Muslims believe that any statement disagreeing with what Islam teaches is blasphemous. Friday 12 May: Pray that Islamic attitudes to blasphemy and freedom of speech will not gain influence in the world. Saturday 13 May: Pray for Pray that religious liberty and freedom of speech in the UK will be protected, so that followers of any religion may

Better Blokes 2017: Better Blokes is a national gathering of men where men are encouraged to get real with their mates, get real with God and get real with themselves. Better Blokes 2017 will be held at Warrambui on the June long weekend. Speakers will feature Matt Prater and Dale MacArthur from Queensland. Flyers are at each congregation. Position Vacant ALWS Finance Officer Australian Lutheran World Service (ALWS) is the aid and development agency of the Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA). It is seeking an organised and motivated person to join our Finance team. This is a causal position (approximately 1 day a week) which covers a broad range of duties including processing payments, reconciliations and maintaining financial records. Based in Albury, the position offers a balance of living in regional Australia while still being connected to the International community. ALWS invites qualified and experienced applicants who are committed to serving the world s poor and marginalised through a global network of partners. ALWS is a child safe organisation. As a condition of this, the successful applicant will be required to sign the ALWS Code of Conduct.
