Yusuf rejected her advances and was imprisoned 161. In prison Yusuf met two men. The first dreamt of himself pouring wine the other dreamt of birds eating bread he carried on his head 162. Yusuf explained that this referred to 7 years of prosperous years will first occur where Egypt will store the excess food followed by 7 years of drought where the food stores will be eaten. 166. The king wanted to free Yusuf but he requested that his name be cleared first. When it was discovered that he was falsely imprisoned the king appointed Yusuf as chief over the stores of Egypt. 167. Finally Yusuf revealed himself to them and pardoned them all 171. He sent his shirt to be put on his father s face who had become blind from the sadness he felt 172. He was totally shunned by all his friends and supporters and left alone 182. Only his wife remained by his side 183. After 7 years had past in this manner Ayoub s wife became despondent and said to Ayoub (AS): How much longer will Allah allow this to go on? He became deeply upset. He asked her How long had Allah blessed me with goodness? 184. Ayoub (AS) told her: If I am healed I would surely lash you 100 times for this 185. He made duah and Allah ordered him to strike the ground where a spring gushed forth for him to wash in it and drink from it. 186. His wife returned and he struck her 100 times using a blade of grass. 187. Allah resorted his health, wealth and family. 188. Prophet Jonah (Yunus) (pbuh) also known as Dhan-Nun 189. Yunus left his people in anger before Allah had instructed him to do so. 192. While on a ship storms continued to crash against them and the captain decided one of the people of ship had to be thrown overboard. 193. They drew three lots and Yunus AS name appeared each time.

7 194. Yunus jumped overboard and was swallowed by a whale. 195. In the whales belly Yunus AS repented to Allah by saying La ilaha illa Anta (none has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allah), Glorified (and Exalted) be You (above all that evil they associate with You), Truly, I have been of the wrong doers." (Ch 21:87 Quran) 196. Allah forgave Yunus AS and the whale expelled Yunus AS on a beach 197. His skin was inflamed from the acid that burnt him and when the sun rose over him he suffered tremendously. 198. Allah caused a plant to grow over his body and he was healed. 199. Yunus AS returned to his city and was surprised to find that the punishment Allah sent against them had not destroyed them 200. Yunus s AS people were the only people ever to be saved from the punishment while seeing it coming as they all repented sincerely and Allah accepted from them. 201. Harun was a nabee (prophet) while Musa was a nabee and rasool (prophet and messenger) 209. The story of Musa and Harun is the most repeated story in the Quran 210. During the time of Yusuf (AS) Yacoub (AS) and his tribe was brought to Egypt. They were given status and honour and grew stronger in Egypt 211. As time went by the Bani Israel were seen as a threat to the Egyptians and so the Pharaoh oppressed them 212. They were forced to work like slaves and were not allowed to leave Egypt 213. The religion of the Egyptians was that they worshipped the Pharaoh, which went against the religion of Ibrahim (AS) 214. Pharaoh saw or was informed a dream where a fire came from Palestine to Egypt and destroyed the homes of the Egyptians but left the homes of the Israelite unharmed 215. The Egyptians understood that this dream was a prophecy for the destruction of the Pharaoh at the hands of an Israeli boy 216. Pharaoh ordered all male children born that year to be executed. This was the same year Musa As was born. 217. Allah inspired Musa AS mother to put him in a basket and cast it into the Nile 218. Pharaoh s wife Aasiyah AS found the baby boy and accepted Musa and took him as a son who she would raise. 219. Allah made it so that Musa did not drink from any other woman except from his mother. 220. When Musa grew up he came to learn that he was an Israelite and his people were being oppressed by Pharaoh 221. One day he found an Egyptian abusing an Israelite. Musa intervened and by accident killed the Egyptian. 222. Musa fled Egypt to city of Madyan where he married and become a shepherd for ten years.

8 223. After ten years Musa returned to Egypt and on his way got lost in the desert 224. He saw a burning bush in the distance and when he approached it a voice spoke to him 225. Musa asked that his brother Harun be tasked to assist him in this duty. Allah accepted Musa s request and appointed Harun as a nabee. 227. Musa AS and Harun AS came to Pharaoh calling him to Allah but he refused to believe and asked for a sing from Musa AS. 228. Musa AS cast his staff on the floor and it became a huge snake and he pushed his right hand to his left side and it came forth shinning. 229. Pharaoh said this was plain magic and he too had magicians who would challenge Musa AS at a festival in front of all of Egypt. 230. Musa AS challenged the magicians of Pharaoh and defeated them. The ropes and sticks of the magicians appeared to be snakes but Musa AS staff turned into a huge snake and ate that of the magicians. 231. The magicians fell down in sujood and were the first to believe. 232. Pharaoh continued to disobey Allah so signs were sent against him. Allah caused drought and crops to fail. The Nile flooded, then Allah sent the locust, frogs, lice and Nile became like blood. 233. Musa AS took the Banu Israel away by night and Pharaoh chased them. 234. Musa AS struck the Red Sea and it parted. 235. The Israelites passed through the two parts and when Pharaoh entered it the Sea joined and drowned Pharaoh 236. Musa AS took his people through the desert. Musa AS struck a stone and 12 springs of water gushed forth 237. Allah sent down from Jannah Manna and Salwa for them to eat 238. When they reached Jerusalem the Israelites refused to fight the Canaanites so Allah made it haram to them for forty years to wonder in the desert 239. Musa AS left his people for forty days to receive the Torah from Allah 240. When he returned he found his people worshiping an Idol made by a man called Saamiri 241. Musa AS destroyed the idol and Allah forgave them. 242. They then asked Musa AS to show them Allah for them to see so Allah seized them with a lightning bolt and resurrected them and forgave them. 243. A man was killed and they asked Musa AS to help them find the murderer so Allah commanded them to slaughter a cow. 244. Surah Al Baqarah is so referred due to the story of the Israelites reluctance to obey Allah. 245. The finally obeyed Musa AS and Allah commanded them to touch the dead man s body with the meat of the cow and he came back to life to identify his murderer. 246. When Musa s AS people still disbelieved Allah sealed their hearts and the entire generation of people passed away in the desert before reaching Jerusalem. 247.
