NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CHARISMATIC AND CHRISTIAN CHURCHES (N.A.C.C.C.) THE CONSTITUTION ARTICLE I : NAME The name of the association shall be National Association of Charismatic and Christian Churches, hereinafter referred to as "The Association" or "NACCC". ARTICLE II : MOTTO The motto of the Association shall be "For the Integrity and the Preservation of the Church". ARTICLE III : AIMS AND OBJECTIVES I. To provide a medium for fellowship and interaction between ministries and churches. 2. To provide a medium for the strengthening and edifying of ministers through periodic NACCC conferences. 3. To assist the churches where possible in matters of administration, management ethics and inter-ministerial relationships. 4. To encourage and develop interpersonal relationships of ministers. 5. To provide a biblically and nationally accepted standard of practice for churches in terms of procedure, morality, ethics, etc. 6. To serve as a united body for Christians and churches in relating and negotiating with other religious bodies, government bodies and any other organized bodies. 7. To provide an opportunity for and exposure of the Church to the gifts and ministry offices in the world, which otherwise may be difficult and 1

financially impossible for the individual churches to bear. 8. To serve as and when necessary, as a licensing and ordaining body for upand coming ministers. 9. To serve as a united force in upholding and defending the human, civil, legal and constitutional rights of the Church of God and its ministers. To defend the Church and its leaders from external aggression and intimidation. 10. To contend for recognition, respect and proper representation of the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ and its Ministers in national issues which concern and affect the well being of the Church of God. 11. To uphold biblical standards that will enhance the integrity of churches and preserve and protect the Church and its ministers from spiritual, doctrinal and moral degeneration. ARTICLE IV : STATEMENT OF FAITH We the Association believe: I) That there is only one God who exists in three persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. 2) That Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was crucified, died, was buried, resurrected and ascended to Heaven. 3) That salvation is obtained only through faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice. 4) That the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the final SOUtce of reference and authority in all matters of doctrine and standards. 5) That the Holy Spirit is actively at work in the Believer and the Church by His fruits and gifts in preparing and preserving the Church for the Second Coming of Christ Jesus. 6) That the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ is sacred which must not be enterprised or taken in hand lightly or unadvisedly. 7) That all persons who respond to the call of God must receive nurturing, protection and guidance in order to fulfil their ministry. 8) That the principal role of the Church is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all peoples, ethnic groups and nations, focusing on this awesome responsibility of carrying out The Great Commission. 2

ARTICLE V : MEMBERSHIP I. NACCC shall have two streams of membership. The first stream of members shall consist of all Charismatic and Christian Churches/Ministries who join this Association. The second stream shall consist of individual Ministers, who are willing to adhere to this Constitution. 2. All NACCC member churches shall pay annual dues that shall be determined by the Board of Directors. Failure to pay the stipulated dues for two consecutive years shall lead to the church's name being struck off the list of membership. 4. Any church seeking membership in NACCC shall fill a form and pay a onetime non-refundable admission fee. If there is no objection to the membership of the applicant by the Board of Directors, the applicant shall be given a letter to confirm their membership. ARTICLE VI : THE ORGANISATION NACCC shall have three main bodies: a) The Executive Council b) The Board of Directors c) The General Assembly THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL I. There shall be an Executive Council, which shall have ultimate oversight over the operations and affairs of the Association. The Executive Council shall be highest body of the Association in terms of authority and shall exercise ultimate responsibility for the governance of the Association. II. The Executive Council shall consist of the Chairman, who shall be elected, the Founder of the Association, and six (6) other members. Ill. The Founder, by virtue of his role in the Association shall be an Honorary Member of the Executive Council and the Board of Directors. I v. The Chairman of the Executive Council shall be elected too serve a term of three (3) years. 3

v. The Elected Chairman of the Executive Council shall appoint the other six (6) members of the Council to serve for the period of the tenure of the Chairman. VI. The outgoing Chairman of the Executive Council shall be entitled to nominate one person to contest for the position of Chairman. VII. The Board of Directors shall be entitled to nominate one person to contest for the position of Chairman of the Executive Council. Vlll. The seven (7) other members of the Executive Council shall be appointed by the Chairman of the Executive Council to hold the following positions: - National Coordinator Secretary General - Public Affairs Coordinator Legal Advisor Administrator - Treasurer - Pastoral Affairs Coordinator XI. The Pastoral Affairs Coordinator shall be responsible for the conduct of the election of the Chairman of the Executive Council. x. A Committee shall be formed out of the membership of the Executive Council which shall run the day-to-day affairs of the NACCC. The members of the Committee shall be responsible for the implementation of the policies and decisions of the NACCC. THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS (i) (ii) The Board of Directors shall consist of the Head Pastors of all registered and fully paid up members of the Association. Other Ministers may be recommended and appointed to by the Board of Directors by existing members of the Board. Ministers who shall be recommended and appointed to the Board of Directors should have some of the following qualities: a) A minister who is a founder and president of a ministry or church. b) A minister who has a church with a membership of at least one thousand members. c) A minister who is the leader of a church/ministry that has its own building and properties or is actively engaged in the construction of its own premises. d) A minister who is the leader of a church/ministry with several 4

branches, satellites or outstations. e) A minister who has produced some significant publications or books. f) A minister who has established a hospital or school. g) A minister who has served in active ministry over ten years. h) A minister of good standing and reputation in the body of Christ. i) A minister of high ethical, moral and financial integrity. iii) iii) iv) A minister must be recommended by at least two serving members of the Board of Directors. The nomination shall then be subjected to a vote by the Board of Directors and the nominee shall be appointed as a member of the Board of Directors if he receives a minimum of a twothirds majority vote of acceptance. All members of the Board of Directors shall pay annual Director's dues that shall be determined. Failure to pay the stipulated dues for two consecutive years shall lead to the Director's name being struck off the list of Board members resulting in the withdrawal of membership. An honorary member of the Board shall not be expected to pay any dues due to the honour being accorded his status. The Board of Directors shall hold an annual Board meeting to discuss matters which are in line with the aims and objectives of NACCC. v) Membership of the Board of Directors shall continue so long as the member remains in good standing with NACCC. vii) viii) ix) The Board of Directors shall have the power to dismiss any member of the Association who contradicts or violates the ethical, moral, financial and doctrinal standards of integrity, which the NACCC upholds. Any dismissal of a member of the Board shall be by a two-thirds majority vote by the members of the Board of Directors. There shall be a Chairman of the Board of Directors who shall preside over Board meetings and shall be the leader of the Association in terms of the pursuit of the ~ aims, objectives and vision of the Association. The Coordinator shall have the power to exclude any member of the NACCC whose contribution he considers to be counter-productive to the vision of NACCC. In the absence of the Chairman the General Secretary shall act in his stead. The Chairman shall appoint a Secretary-General to represent the NACCC. The Secretary General shall be a minister and mature Christian of good 5

ministerial and social standing. He shall work closely with the Coordinator and with the Board and make representations on behalf of NACCC to the public, government, media and other associations and organised bodies. He shall make public the views and position of the NACCC as the need arises. THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY (i) (ii) The General Assembly shall consist of all members of NACCC. They shall form the main body of ministers and churches that belong to the Association. The General Assembly shall endeavour to participate fully in all activities of the Association including the Annual NACCC Conventions and other programs that shall be organized. ELECTIONS AND VOTING 1. The Board of Directors shall vote and elect officials by a simple majority. 2. The Constitution may be amended by the Board of Directors by a twothirds majority of fully paid up members of the Board who are eligible to vote. 3. The quorum for amendments of the Constitution shall be a minimum of three quarters (3/4) of the full membership of the Board. ARTICLE VII: TRANSITIONAL PROVISIONS 1. For the purpose of establishing a lasting foundation for the Association, the founder of NACCC, Rt. Rev. Dr. Dag Heward-Mills shall be the Chairman and shall chair and direct the affairs of the Association until such time that he finds the Association fully developed with an adequate structure, administration and Vision. 2. When the Chairman is satisfied that the NACCC is on track to fulfill the original vision, he shall ensure a smooth hand-over by the due process of democratic elections. 6
