The 5:00 PM Mass will resume the weekend after Labor Day on September 9th, 2018. FINANCIAL BLESSINGS Collection for May 26th & 27th Envelopes Checks Cash Online Giving Total 171 $ 4,791.50 $ 1,923.00 $ 1,299.50 $ 8,014.00 Maintenance Fund $ 2,162.00 Saint Rita knew Jesus Christ through her own suffering. She was an Italian widow and Augustinian nun. Rita was married at an early age. The marriage lasted for Eighteen Years, during which she is remembered for her Christian Values as a model wife and mother who made efforts to convert her husband from his abusive behavior. Upon the murder of her husband by another feuding family, she sought to dissuade her sons from revenge and forgive. In the same way, Jesus came into the world to die for our sins. And he announces that he will soon suffer for he came for that reason, to offer himself as an acceptable sacrifice to the Father, taking on the burden of our sins. Jesus accepts humbly this plan as the Father s will and tries to prepare his disciples for the hard times to come. We, the disciples of Jesus, have to know that we get our Salvation through Jesus Passion. It means, through his suffering and death. There is no other way to be saved. Also, on one occasion the Apostles were caught arguing about who was most important. They needed to still learn the way of Christ: loving, self-sacrificing surrender for the other, seeking nothing for oneself. Dear friends of Saint Jude: selfless and humble service is the path Jesus shows through his life. The way of the Christian is to be the servant of all people, with humility, simplicity, detachment and love. Jesus showed us the way when he washed the feet of his disciples, even though he knew they would run away and that Judas would betray him. We are called to serve all; even those people we know are planning to destroy us. How hard it is to live in a constant spirit of service and generosity. But we follow our Master, Jesus Christ, who emptied himself and took the likeness of a servant. This was the way Saint Rita took too. Let us follow her example. As your Pastor, I love you; and because of that love, I treat all of you with respect and kindness. God Bless you. Fr. J. Antonio Mass Schedule For June 9th & 10th June 9th th Thank you for responding with generosity to our financial needs. To give is an act of faith. We promise to be wise stewards with the funds that you entrust to us. God Bless You. June 10 5:30 PM 8:00 AM 10:00 AM 5:00 PM Fr. Milton
BAPTISMS PARISH WEBSITE We welcomed into our church through the Sacrament of Baptism, our newest member: DON'T CHANGE THE CHANNEL! YOU'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE Our parish website has a new look. We have migrated our website to a new provider, ecatholic, the web hosting company officially endorsed and sponsored by the Diocese of Paterson. We made this change for several reasons: May 27, 2018 Fariha-Grace Soumaya Joan Baaklini CATHOLIC CHARITIES DIOCESE OF PATERSON Annual Corpus Christi Food Collection for the Poor Due to the unprecedented requests for assistance from Catholic Charities food pantries and in order to fulfill our obligations to the poor, Bishop Serratelli has authorized a Diocesan-wide food collection in all parishes and agencies on the Feast of Corpus Christi, urday/sunday, June 2nd & 3rd, 2018. SPIRITUAL ADOPTION BABY DEVELOPMENT UPDATE 8 MONTHS Baby s irises can now dilate and contract in response to light; weight is now about four to six pounds. Sleep and waking become more differentiated toward the end of the eighth month. Four distinctive behavioral states become recognizable and these will continue to be characteristic in the baby s behavior in the weeks beyond birth. These are sleep, awake, actively awake and crying. Your baby's body is now producing a chemical (called a surfactant) which helps baby breathe after birth. The surfactant is coating the alveoli in the lungs. Baby weighs about four pounds (1.8 kilograms). Babies born after this week have fewer breathing problems at birth. Amazing Fact: Baby has put on about two pounds of weight, mostly fat and muscle tissue, since last month. Measurements to 40 cms or 15.8 inches. The site will be much easier to maintain on the new platform Support is excellent and provided by a company that specializes in Catholic-centered products The new platform will provide access to expanded Media, such as video ecatholic is the web platform recommended by the Diocese Note that the former content on the website is still available, and you will be able to find it in the places you're already familiar with. Since this is part of a Diocesan initiative, the update was done at no charge to St. Jude.
