From the Pastor s Pen... We should ask God each morning for our assignment and then ask Him for our portion. Scripture has a lot to say about how God feeds and strengthens His children. When Jesus was teaching His disciples to pray, He instructed them to pray, "Give us this day our daily bread." (Matt. 6:11) Notice that He didn't say weekly bread (as if we could get everything we need at church each week and live the rest of the time on our own), monthly bread, or yearly bread. Picture the Israelites in the desert gathering the manna that God had provided as food. God's direction was to gather as much as they could eat for the day but not to try to keep it over night. Some ignored this last part of the instruction and found themselves left in the morning with stinky, maggoty leftovers! (Exodus 16). God wants the same thing for us as He wanted for the Israelites. He wants us to trust Him each day for what we need. He wants us to be dependent on Him each morning as we face the day asking our Provider for our portion. If you could knock on the door of God's office and ask for a look at His heavenly calendar, what would be on it that day for you? God clearly extends mercy to His children, but I think that maybe the portion is for the items that He divinely has included on our daily agenda. Psalms 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. Pastor Larry Perkins
The Soldiers Life Author: SSgt. Scott E Hilligoss The soldiers life is not for all A soldier must be willing to give his all He is overworked and underpaid A truer patriot was never made Ready to go at any time Wherever there is trouble or the first sign His courage and honor are unsurpassed Ready and willing to complete the task Travelling to lands both near and far He stands his post and looks at the stars Wondering what he might have done If he had not chosen to carry a gun Remember the next time that you are driving by And see the flag flying proud and high That somewhere out there a soldier stands Weary and cold in a foreign land Protecting our country from our foes Standing tall and proud come rain or snow.

Military Wife's Prayer Give me greatness of heart to see, the difference between duty and his love for me. Give me understanding so that I may know, when duty calls him, he must go. Give me a task to do each day, to fill the time when he s away. When he s in a foreign land, keep him safe in your loving hand. And when duty is in the field, please protect him and be his shield. And Lord, when his deployment seems so long, please stay with me and keep me strong.
