Sanctuary...TFWS No. 2164 LIGHTING OF THE CHRIST CANDLE L: We light the Christ Candle to remind us of the presence of our Lord and to welcome Him in our midst. Jesus said, We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. John 9:4-5 1 *All who wish may stand. UMH = United Methodist Hymnal (red book) TFWS = The Faith We Sing (thin black book) Nursery available for babies - 4 year olds

OPENING PRAYER L: Almighty and everlasting God, whose will it is to restore all things in your well-beloved Son, the King of kings and Lord of lords: Mercifully grant that the peoples of the earth, divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought together under his most gracious rule; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. All: Amen *SONG OF PRAISE... I Will Call upon the Lord...TFWS No. 2002 OLD TESTAMENT LESSON...Jeremiah 23: 5-6 L: 5 Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. 6 In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: The LORD is our righteousness. *HYMN OF PRAISE... Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me"... UMH No. 361 ANTHEM... "Here I am to Worship"...Faith Choir 2 (Children 4-9 are invited to attend Sunday School at this time.) EPISTLE LESSON...Colossians 1:15-20 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities; all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. *GOSPEL LESSON...Luke 1:68-79 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David, as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old, that we should be saved from

our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us; to show the mercy promised to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant, the oath that he swore to our father Abraham, to grant us that we, being delivered from the hand of our enemies, might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him all our days. And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, to give knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the sunrise shall visit us from on high to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. L: This is the Word of God for the People of God ALL: THANKS BE TO GOD MESSAGE... Behold Your King...Rev. Victor Waters *PASSING OF THE PEACE May the peace of Christ be with you and all that is yours. PASTORAL PRAYER THE LORD S PRAYER (In Unison) Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name.
