Committed to His Will, His Way, and His Word October 30 2016 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19 (NKJ) It is the vision of Mount Olive to be a church that is intentional in its efforts to identify and meet the needs of broken, hurt and oppressed people in the greater Glen Allen area through the message and ministry of Jesus Christ. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. MOBC FAITH DEVELOPMENT!! KINGDOMTIDE August 28 November 26, 2016 The Pulpit Attire is Green. We are in the season of KINGDOMTIDE, the color of KINGDOMTIDE is GREEN. The color GREEN symbolizes growth. KINGDOMTIDE runs from August 28 until Advent. KINGDOMTIDE is the newest of the seasons, dating no farther back than the late 1930 s. KING- DOMTIDE gives place for due attention to the eternal presence of Christ and His Kingship with the parallel emphasis upon our stewardship. Its emphasis on the kingship of Christ and His kingdom, challenges us in our daily lives and in every area of our existence. Theme For This Quarter: THE SOVEREIGNITY OF GOD The study of this quarter examines the sovereignty of God and of Jesus Christ, culminating with a close look at the vision of God s plan at the end of the age. UNIT 3 -- Alpha and Omega The four lessons in this unit are based on the last two chapters of the book of Revelation. In these lessons, John uses metaphors of one who makes all things new, a vision of a New Jerusalem, a river of life, and the beginning and the end of all things to explore how God reigns. NEXT WEEK S LESSON: November 6, 2016 Everything s Brand New Revelation 21:1-8 People look for a place and time when life s stresses will not exist. Is such a refuge possible? John, the writer of the book of Revelation, suggests that God will create a new heaven and earth where life s challenges and stresses will be banished forever. * MONDAY: God Will Dwell Among Them Exodus 29:42-46 * TUESDAY: Who May Live With God? Psalm 15 * WEDNESDAY: Life in the New Heaven and Earth Isaiah 65:20-25 * THURSDAY: Those Who Believe Have Eternal Life John 6:35-40 * FRIDAY: Mercy of Jesus Leads to Eternal Life Jude 20-25 * SATURDAY: God Wil Wipe Away All Tears Revelation 7:13-17 * SUNDAY: Morals in God s Presence Revelation 21:1-8 Sermon Highlights: October 23, 2016 Title: The Easy Way Out Text: Mark 6:32-44 Main Idea: When God tells us not to take the easy way out, He s not being difficult. The text teaches us that Jesus was not being difficult but: Points: 1) He didn t want the disciples desire to block the blessing for the crowd. 2) He was dealing with difficult people. 3) Things are not always as hard as they seem. For the full message order a CD or DVD of the service from the Media Ministry. CDs $5.00; Double CDs $7.00; DVDs $10.00 HOW TO ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART Perhaps while reading the announcements you realized you have never made a Christian commitment. Don t delay that decision! We encourage you to embrace God s love today and receive the salvation that only Jesus Christ gives. Here are five simple steps you can take to find assurance of salvation. 1. Recognize your need. The Bible tell us that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Rom. 3:23) All of us are sinners, and we must admit our need for a Savior. 2. Repent of your sins. Our sins create a wall that separates us from God. By confessing our sins and turning from them, you will find forgiveness. The Bible promises: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). 3. Believe in Jesus. God sent His only Son to die so that He could pay for all our sins. Put your faith in Him and believe in His power to save you. The Bible says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16). 4. Receive His salvation. God has given us a great gift in His Son, but we must receive His gift. Thank Him for loving and forgiving you, and ask Him to live in your heart. His promise to us is clear: But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). 5. Confess your faith. The Bible assures us: If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Rom. 10:9). You have been born again and are now part of God s family. Tell some one else what Jesus has done in your life! MOBC Bible Institute The Bible Institute is now in session. Class will meet every Wednesday evening from 6:30 PM 8:00 PM in the MP Building, Classroom #1. Please join us for a verse by verse study of the book of the Revelation. Revelation is the only book in the Bible that promises a blessing for those who read and obey the book [1:3; 22:7]. Unfortunately, it is one of the most neglected books. Please join us and be informed, be inspired and be truly blessed. Instructor: Sis. Marilyn E. Coates 2

1. Age Targeted Teaching: Where else can your kids get Biblical instruction that's focused toward their developmental abilities? 2. Friends: In Sunday School, your child will build positive friendships with their peers by discovering God's Word together. 3. It's Fun: Sunday School is not Disney Land, but our teachers do work hard to teach the Bible in ways that are relevant and fun for kids. 4. Spiritual Mentors: A dedicated teacher can be a Christian role model who supports you and helps inspire the faith of your child. 5. Systematic Bible Learning: Our curriculum is designed to give a broad foundation, so children will understand how all the parts of Scripture point to Christ. 6. Praying Teachers: Our teachers consistently pray for your child's faith to grow. Coming to Sunday School gives another occasion for God to answer those requests. 7. Big Reward For a Small Investment: If you're already coming to church, just come a little earlier or stay a little later. 8. Send the Right Message: Making Sunday School a priority shows your kids that God's Word really does matter. 9. Adult Bible Fellowship: While the children enjoy their class, you can fellowship with other adults in your own Bible study group. 10. Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV): Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
