Relationships, Not Buildings: The Real Mission to the Dominican Republic

Transcription:

We praise God for His faithfulness in all things. We pray that God bless you and the activities that many of you are doing for the Lord this summer. We are very excited for the group that is coming from Daingerfield. Lord willing, it will be a very productive time in the Lord. We thank you for your love, prayers, and support. God bless you and here is our report for this month to see what the Lord is doing through you. We are very excited to let you know that Tiago was baptized this past month in Teresopolis. The last report you may remember asking for your prayers for him and his wife. We thank you for your prayers. His wife Aline is studying the Word of God as well and Lord willing we before long she will as well give her life to the Lord. She already loves the change she sees in her husband. May our God continue to always transform lives by His Word. We see God blessing the work in Teresopolis and giving them much encouragement. They have been working on reforms of the building and had a re-inauguration of the building on a Friday night inviting all the congregations to attend. There was a great turn-out to encourage them and the church here in the South. We were happy as well that the Let s Start Talking team as well was able to be part of this night.

David, one of them, preached that night while I translated about Christ and His kingdom. The message was very good. Their team as well sang afterwards. We also celebrated the night with foods typical this time of the year here in Rio Grande do Sul. Needless to say, it was very good. This day it rained a lot and was cold, but brothers and sisters came together. Some of us from the church in Agronomia as went together in a bus that one of the members has for work. It was a great time of fellowship as well. Continue praying for Tersopolis. Talking about how the Lord brings people together, we were blessed to meet the Let s Start Talking team that is working together at the church at Lucas. We had the opportunity to pick them up at the airport and have grown to already appreciate their hard work already. They are having English conversational classes with many people whom we hope in the future will give their lives to the Lord. They are doing a

great job of planting the seed and being an example, not only for the lost, but for the church here in the South. They have also attended the church in Agronomia on Sunday nights as well and we have had the opportunity to have them at our house. We were, along with them, able to participate in the first worship service that Lucas had in their auditorium after having to remove the old roof(because of danger of collapsing) and put on a new roof. They are still in the process of reforming. Continue praying for the church at Lucas. I also have been translating for David at the services in Lucas in the morning. The Lord has also given us opportunities to participate in the meeting (getting to know party) they have together once a week with all of the English students so that they can interact with church members and create relationships.

We also were blessed with the opportunity with a visit from a dear brother from Campo Grande, Leonel. You may remember him very well from past reports since his family worked in Viamao and then moved to Campo Grande to study the Word of God and now has begun planting a new congregation in that city. The work they are doing you can see God blessing in everything. If you would like to receive his monthly report please send me an email and I will be sure that it gets to you. He came to Porto Alegre because his mother was in the hospital and had some exams done and tests, and they were not sure she would make it through the tests. Praise God she is doing well and is now out of the hospital. We used Leonel for the Lord here as well. He used our car to go do visits with church members while he was here. Sunday morning I gave him a ride to the church in Novo Hamburgo, about 45-50 minutes from here, after there, he went and preached in Teresopolis, and at night I asked him to preach for the church at Agronomia. God blessed him well with good weather the whole time he was here. After he left, it has rained for two weeks straight with just one day that the sun came out. Continue praying for him and the work the Lord has given him and his family in Campo Grande. We ask you to continue praying for the church here at Agronomia as well. We see that there are many new people coming and the Lord is opening up opportunities for more Bible studies. We have started studying with one family that was a result as well of Leonel being here.

Many already know Rudi, who drives for Daingerfield when they are here, and that we have tried many times to study the Bible with him and his family. His father passed away recently and praise God he called us to be a support for him and his family as well as his brother and mother. This has opened the door to a Bible study in their house and we praise God for this opportunity. I have also continued studying with Nelson as well as with other youth who have not yet decided to give their lives to the Lord. We see God working and believe that we will see many give their lives to the Lord between now and the end of the year. Our goal for every church member is to bring one more to Christ. Since Rui is now working in Sao Gabriel, the Lord has given me more opportunities to grow as well as Ju and I along with continue working for the Lord here in Agronomia. Pray that the Lord gives us strength and we thank you for the strength we receive from your prayers. We are also happy to let you know that Robert, the son of Diamantina in Sao Gabriel, was baptized into Christ. May the Lord continue to give growth for His church Rio Grande do Sul. Please continue praying for the church here in Agronomia.

We are thankful for these kinds of opportunities the Lord has been blessing us with. Pray that we can do the work He has prepared for us in a way that will always honor and glorify our great and awesome God. The Lord sent me a brother from the congregation at Lucas to help me perfect my Portuguese. He is giving his time to do this without any charge because of his love for our great God. I told him I was looking for someone to help, and he said you need not look anywhere else. He is a teacher in the military here and has helped tremendously. In the classes, he said that it seems I already know everything, which is good, but he can still help me to conjugate some complex verbs since the ending is different for each person. Pray that God bless him and his family. I will be helping him by studying and showing him how to prepare and deliver sermons. Ju s sister and family continue with difficulties because of the flooding and we ask for your continued prayers for them. We thank those who have wanted to help and pray that God bless you more than you can imagine. You are having an impact for the gospel of our Lord through your actions. Deborah and Barbara are doing fine and enjoying the two week break from school. Thank you again for your love and concern for the work of the Lord here in Brazil and for your partnership in the gospel. Pray for Brazil.
