In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, one God. Amen.

Begin with the Lord s prayer Our Lord and Savior, our King and God, we thank you for gathering us here to stand before you to call on your Holy Name. Heavenly Father, teach us to trust You in everything we do. Our God open our eyes, ears, hearts and minds that we may hear Your Word, keep it in our hearts and tell our friends about your glory and honor. Bless all the children and keep them safe. Hear us when we humbly and thankfully pray to you.

Our Father, who art in heaven Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done On earth as it is in heaven Give us this day our daily bread And forgive us our trespasses As we forgive those who trespass against us And lead us not into temptation But deliver us from the evil one For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the Glory. Forever, Amen.

O our Lady, as St. Gabriel greeted you, Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. True Virgin in conscience as well as body, blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Holy Mary, the God-bearer, pray that your beloved Son, Jesus Christ, may forgive us our sins. Amen.

Say The Jesus Prayer 3 times Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

The Prodigal Son May 18, 2014

Memorize today s Verse Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight (Luke 15:21) Practice this verse again during the week.

There once was a man who had two sons.

The older son worked hard and obeyed all that his father told him to do.

The younger son liked to play and have fun. He wasn t interested in working.

Was this a happy family?

One day, the younger son went to his father and said.

Dad, when you go Give me my you re going half now! to leave a ton of cash.

The father was shocked! OK, It s your Choice.

Far Away The younger son gathered all he had, and set off for a far away country.

There he wasted his money on parties and wild living.

Guess what happened next? Famine!

Nasty piggy niff He had spent all he had, so he went and got a job feeding pigs! The worst job ever!!!

Nasty piggy niff Finally, he came to his senses!

I will return to my father and say to him My father s hired men have food to spare and here I am starving.

I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired men.

So he headed home to his father. Home

But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with love for him.

He ran to his son, threw his arms around him, and kissed him.

Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.

Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened Father I have sinned against heaven and against you... calf and kill it. Let's have a feast and celebrate.

For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.

The older brother was angry and refused to join the party. All these years I ve worked for you. And in all that time you never gave me even one young goat for a feast with my friends.

Look, my son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. But we celebrate this happy day because your brother was dead and is alive again. He was lost and is found!

Just as the father in this story loved his sons, God, our Heavenly Father, loves his children. Even when we disappoint him and stray from what he has taught us, his love remains strong and he longs for our return. There is no end to our Heavenly Father s love!!

Conclusion God is willing to forgive anybody, as long as they are sorry for what they have done. Everyone who prays a prayer of confession can become a child of God. God is waiting for each of us to come to Him and will rejoice when we turn from our sins.

Conclusion 4 steps of repentance 1. Feel the need to go back to God. 2. Have a blessed grief about sin and regret doing it. 3. Take the decision to go back to Jesus and never sin again. 4. Confess

Movie Clip Show a short movie clip about the story, if available.

Pop Quiz 1. What did the youngest son ask of his father? Give me my portion or my half. 2. What job did the son do after loosing all his money? a pig farmer hired him to watch over his pigs 3. What food looked good to him? the pig food looked good to him. 4. What did he finally decide to do? to go back to his father and beg him to forgive him. 5. What did the father do when he saw his son? He ran to meet his son, threw his arms around him. 6. What did the father do after he forgave him? He put the best robe on his son and a ring on his finger. He also prepared a feast (a huge party)

Next Week We will learn about The parable of Talents.

May the love of God the Father and the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you. All: And with your Spirit. Through the prayers of our holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us and save us. Amen.

1. Read the Holy Bible daily preferably when we get up in the morning. 5 minutes to start. 2. Partake Holy Communion regularly. 3. Remember God throughout the day. We can repeat short prayer such as Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me.

For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12)

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32

Any question? Close with prayer.
