Sunday Assyria comes against Judah Bible Reading: Isaiah 36v1-21 (cp. 2 Kings 18v13-36; 2 Chronicles 32v9-16) Up to this time, Hezekiah had held out against the king of Assyria (2 Kings 18v7). Hezekiah had paid Sennacherib to go away from Judah. Sadly, he took lots of gold and silver from the temple. Sennacherib took the money but he didn t go away. He wanted total victory over Judah (2 Kings 18v14-16). Isaiah had said not to go to Egypt for help (Isaiah 31v1+3). Stop and Think! Rabshakeh said things that remind me of Satan. Satan is God s great enemy. Rabshakeh said it was useless to go to Egypt for help (v6). TRUE! Isaiah had said not to go to Egypt (31v1+3). But Rabshakeh wanted them to trust him.not the LORD. Satan sometimes tells you the truth to stop you following the Lord. Rabshakeh said Hezekiah had taken away the high places of the LORD (v7). WRONG! Hezekiah had taken away the high places for worshipping gods (2 Kings 18v4). Satan tries to make good look wrong. He ll even try to make wrong beliefs look right. Rabshakeh said the LORD sent him (v10). WRONG! Satan will tell you lies to discourage you.and to turn you away from following the LORD. Rabshakeh shouted to the people in their own language (v13-15). He wanted to scare them and to turn them from doing what good king Hezekiah said. Satan may try to scare you into doing wrong. Rabshakeh promised he d take them to a good land. They d have lots of good things to eat and drink (v16+17). But they had to surrender to him. Satan will promise you a good life.filled with many nice things and lots of fun. BUT he really wants to make you his captive to sin. Rabshakeh said no other gods could save nations from him (v18-20). TRUE! But the other nations weren t following the LORD. He thought he could beat the LORD too (v20). WRONG! BEWARE! You don t speak against the LORD and get away with it! Satan cannot win against the One True Living God.

Take your problems to the LORD in prayer. There s nothing too big or too small for Him! Don t be afraid to ask others to pray too! (v2+3) This doesn t mean he couldn t sin. It means he wanted to obey God with all of his heart. 4. What did he ask the LORD to remember? (v3) 5. Why did the LORD send Isaiah back to him? (v5) 6. How much longer would he live? (v6) 7. What did they put on the boil? (v7) This figs mixture was the medicine of those days for boils. God uses medicine to heal. 8. What sign did Hezekiah get? (v8-11) 9. Who made the sun dial go back? (v11) 10. Why did Hezekiah not show his thanks to God? (2 Chr 32v25+26) 11. So, what would come on Judah and Jerusalem? (v25) 12. Stop and Think! What age was Hezekiah? Hezekiah was 25 when he became king. He reigned 29 years (2 Kings 18v2). He lived 15 years after he was sick (2 Kings 20v6). 29+25=54 54-15=39 So, Hezekiah was 39 years old when the LORD healed him. Good men aren t perfect. They can become proud. They don t always say thanks. They can lead you wrong. So, make sure your faith is in the LORD, not man. Did you know? A sun dial was used to tell the time. There were no watches or clocks then. The sun cast a shadow on it. They knew by how much shadow there was on it, what time it was.
Thursday Visitors from Babylon Bible Reading: 2 Kings 20v12-21 (cp. 2 Chronicles 32v31-33; Isaiah 39v1-8) 1. What did the king of Babylon do? (v12) 2. Why? Manasseh was one of the worst. You can say your parents are too strict. They spend too much time at Christian things. BUT at the end of the day.you will give an account of yourself to God. This broke God s 1 st and 2 nd commandments (Exodus 20v3-6) Satanic Practices He was into fortune telling, astrology, witchcraft, magic, and went to mediums and spiritists (v5+6). Anything to do with the occult is satanic. Israel was to have NOTHING to do with them (Deuteronomy 18v10-12). If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1v9) Murder He filled Jerusalem with innocent blood (2 Kings 21v16). He made child sacrifices in the valley of Hinnom (2 Chr 33v6). Find it on a map. Children were burned to death. The LORD really, really hated this. He had said that Israel was NOT to do it (Leviticus 18v21; Deuteronomy 12v31).
Saturday Manasseh dies, Amon reigns Bible Reading: 2 Chronicles 33v14-25 (cp. 2 Kings 21v17-26) 1. What did Manasseh build? (v14) Find it on a map 2. Where did he put captains of war? (v14) Manasseh wanted the people of Judah to be kept safe from their enemies. 3. What did he take away? (v15) 4. What did he repair? (v16) 5. What did he offer on it? (v16) False worship had to be torn down. True worship had to be set up again. 6. What did he command Judah to do? (v16) 7. What did the people do in high places? (v17) 8. Who was the next king of Judah? (v21) 9. What evil did he do? (v22) 10. What did he NOT do? (v23) 11. How did he die? (v24) 12. What did the people do? (v25) 13. Where were Manasseh and Amon buried? (2 Kings 21v18+26) This garden was in the palace grounds. Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance. (Matthew 3v8) We need to be truly sorry for our sins.and turn to God for forgiveness. Then, we must tear down what is wrong.and build up what is right. God will give you the chance to undo some of your past wrongs. Others need to see the change that the LORD has made in your life. Did you know? Manasseh reigned for 55 years (v1). For most of his reign he did really, really great sins. The LORD forgave him when he was truly sorry. BUT Judah would go into captivity because of what he did (2 Kings 21v10-14; Jeremiah 15v4) WARNING No matter how bad we are, God can forgive us BUT sometimes we have to live with the consequences of our sin. You can destroy your body with drugs and alcohol. You can hurt other people. You can wreck families. You may kill. But you will have to live with the guilt.and maybe an upset mind. There are some things we just can t undo.
