THE NATIVITY OF THE LORD MASS DURING THE NIGHT OF THE SOLEMNITY PRESIDENTIAL PRAYERS FROM THE CHAIR Introducty Rites Sign of the Cross Priest Celebrant ( ): Faithful Celebrants ( ): In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Greeting The grace of our Ld Jesus Christ, and love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Ld Jesus Christ. The Ld be with you. And with your spirit. Penitential Act Brothers and sisters, Let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries. Choose one of the following fms: 1

I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my wds, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefe I ask blessed Mary ever-virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray f me to the Ld our God. Have mercy on us, O Ld. F we have sinned against you. Show us, O Ld, your mercy. And grant us your salvation You were sent to heal the contrite of heart: Ld, have mercy. Ld, have mercy. You came to call sinners: Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. You are seated at the right hand of the Father to intercede f us: Ld, have mercy. Ld, have mercy. May almighty God have mercy on us, fgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life. 2

The invocations follow, unless they occurred previously. Ld, have mercy. Ld, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Ld, have mercy. Ld, have mercy. The Glia Gly to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we ade you, we glify you, we give you thanks f your great gly, Ld God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Ld Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Ld God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the wld, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the wld, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. F you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Ld, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the gly of God the Father. Amen. 3

Collect Let us pray. O God, who have made this most sacred night radiant with the splend of the true light, grant, we pray, that we, who have known the mysteries of his light on earth, may also delight in his gladness in heaven. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, f ever and ever. 4

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Ld Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, bn of the Father befe all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. F us men and f our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. F our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accdance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in gly to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Ld, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is aded and glified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism f the fgiveness of sins and I look fward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the wld to come. Amen. 5

Bow down f the blessing: May the God of infinite goodness, who by the Incarnation of his Son has driven darkness from the wld and by that glious Birth has illumined this most holy night, drive far from you the darkness of vice and illumine your hearts with the light of virtue. May God, be announced to shepherds by the Angel, fill your minds with the gladness he gives and make you heralds of his Gospel. And may God, who by the Incarnation brought together the earthly and heavenly realm, fill you with the gift of his peace and fav and make you sharers with the Church in heaven. And may the blessing of almighty God, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, come down on you and remain with you f ever. Dismissal Go and announce the Gospel of the Ld.
