We have chosen the way of truth. Psalm 119:30 VOLUME 2 June 7, 2015 Number 23 From the Pastor s Heart Greetings Southside Family, We are so glad you chose to join us for worship this morning. Our prayer is that you discover the presence of God as we worship today. If you are a first time guest then let me be the first to welcome you. I would like to encourage you at the end of the service to stop by our guest table located at the front of the sanctuary to receive a free gift and further information about our church family. As I sit and articulate my thoughts for this article on June 3 rd, my immediate response is to give glory to God for what He is doing this week through VBS. Then comes the realization that 16 from Southside will be worshipping in Honduras on this Lord s day as you read this article. How wonderful it is to be on mission for God locally and internationally. Please continue to pray for the team members and their respective families that they are leaving behind. The list of team members are located in the worship guide this morning. If you did not pick up the daily mission schedule for the Honduras mission team, you can contact the church office for a copy. This schedule is made available so that our church family would know how to pray each day for our team. Our team will share about the Honduras trip during the evening service on June 14 th. Once again the Southside family will be immensely blessed in both services today by the preaching of Dr. Jerry Grandstaff. Bro. Jerry is a great friend and mentor to me, and I am very grateful that he will be sharing God s Word today in my absence. He has a deep love for Southside and I know that the Southside family has a deep love for him. Wow! What an incredible week of VBS. A heart felt thank you to all who served in various capacities. Thank you Mrs. Rhonda for leading us this past week. Each night the attendance rose and each night the children were taught Bible stories and worship songs. Children are a gift from the Lord (Ps 127:3). Once we re back from the Honduras trip, the staff will set up a visitation time for following up on VBS prospects. Thanks in advance for the prayers. Hope you all have a blessed week! Love you church. In Christ, Bro. Stacy

Greetings from Gary Good Morning! I trust you all have a had a great week! It is a busy week here at Southside Baptist. We are praying for our team as they share the gospel of Jesus Christ in Honduras. God is immensely blessing His Church! I was so thankful for the hard work and musicianship of our choir and orchestra last week during our congregational songs and especially our choir anthem, "Thou Oh Lord." All of the glory belongs to Christ Jesus! We will continue with Senior, Adult, and Children's choir throughout the summer season. If you are interested in joining one of these groups, please see me! There is a place for you! Our senior adult choir will be planning a day trip soon this month to First Baptist Church of Bonifay, FL during the week day! Look for more info soon! This morning, let's reflect on the holiness and sovereignty of God as we lift up an offering of praise to Him! "There is none holy as the Lord; for there is none beside thee, neither is there any rock like our God" 1 Samuel 2:2 (KJV) Love you all, Bro. Gary PRAY FOR HONDURAS MISSION TEAM: Bro. Stacy, Ann, Seth, & Lacy Stafford, Dewayne & Pam Efurd, Rhonda Grandstaff, Pat Strobel, Anthony Rich, Chelsea Nelson, Jacob Holmes, Melanie Wynkoop, Tiffany Stafford, Caleb Peacock, Bruce Powell, Jonathan Tomlin DEACON S MEETING TODAY @ 4:30! A Moment with Rhonda Greetings Southside Friends, As you read the newsletter this morning, the mission team will be worshipping in a church in Honduras. I am certainly excited about this opportunity but I covet your prayers for safety, wisdom, and the Holy Spirit s guidance as we minister to all we come in contact with. I wanted to give a big shout out and thank you to everyone who helped make props (especially Mel Strobel and Chuck Schaule), taught in VBS, served teacher snacks or childrens refreshments, registered the children, kept attendance, or served as runners, etc. we could never do this without your help! We had an awesome week and I am so grateful for the love each of you poured into the lives of these children! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Children, don t forget our trip to the Montgomery Zoo on June 18 th. We will be leaving around 8:00 a.m. The cost will be $10.50 which includes lunch. We will be traveling on the church bus and joining the CDC school-aged children for a fun-filled day! Please let me know if you would like to go. If you have not made your Amish trip payment this month, please do so now. Thank you. Did you hear the words the choir sang last Sunday, Oh Lord, you are a shield for me? As I was reading a devotion this week I came across Psalm 18:30, As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. Psalm 18:30. That gives me such peace to know that if I put my trust in Him, He will be my refuge. I pray you have done that! I can think of no other that I would want to put my trust in. Love each of you and can t wait to get back to share all of our experiences! God is good! Mrs. Rhonda Do You Know These People? Check out the bulletin board at the elevator. You will enjoy the plans and pictures! Lola Silver and Family Dear Church Family, Our entire family so appreciates all the kindness and prayers during our beloved Tim s illness and after his homegoing. All the cards, calls and concern helped to brighten our days. The lunch you provided for our large family was such a wonderful help and gesture of love. VISIT OUR HOME ON THE WEB: www.sbcdothan.org Good Morning! Overwhelmingly excited, would be the best expression of my emotions concerning leading this awesome group of students in their walk with Christ. 1st Timothy 4:12 states, Don t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. (NLT) What an empowering verse for students to live their lives by, showing their love for Christ in everyday life. WIRED 2015 is right around the corner!! Please be in continual prayer for the students and chaperones that will be participating in this missional minded camp. We will be involved in construction projects, Wired Kids Club, sports camps, and various other social ministries throughout Dothan and the surrounding area. This is a great opportunity to get students focused on the missions available in our immediate area. Students, remember to turn in your participation forms and see me for your balance. Please remember the Honduras Mission Team in prayer as we serve this week. Your prayers are greatly needed and appreciated.
