VERSES FROM THE SCRIPTURES God wanted the Israelites to remember how he delivered them from Egypt. He wanted them to have a feast every year to celebrate the Passover. He said: And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast...ordinance forever. Exodus 12:14 THINK ABOUT THIS! Every year when the Israelites had a Passover feast, they remembered how God saved them from Egypt. More important than that is the sacrifice of Jesus, which saves us from sin and death. If we have faith, repent, be baptized, and receive the Holy Ghost, we can be saved from sin! The Passover lamb is a symbol of Jesus sacrifice for us! REVIEWING THE STORY After the last plague, the king of Egypt finally agreed to let the Israelites leave Egypt. Moses and his people were happy! They were free! Moses led them north into the desert to go to God s promised land. But the evil Egyptians changed their minds. They wanted the Israelites to come back and be slaves. They followed the Israelites with their armies. Look at the pictures below and number the events in order. The Egyptian armies followed the Israelites to the Red Sea. The free Israelites danced and sang because God had delivered them! Moses led his people North out of Egypt to the Red Sea. VERSES FROM THE SCRIPTURES When the Israelites crossed over the Red Sea on dry land and God drowned the Egyptian army in the waters, Moses and his people sang and danced for joy! Then sang Moses and the children of Israel...I will sing unto the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.
