The Monthly Newsletter of The Central Florida Metal Detecting Club From The President s Desk By Alan James It s hard to believe but we are approaching the middle of May already! Christmas is only about 33 weeks away, but for now I ll stick to a cheerful Happy Mother s Day wish. Memorial Day is Monday, May 29 this year. Please take time to remember those that died defending all the Freedoms we have in the United States. I can t imagine how things would be without each and every one of these brave souls. The Central Florida Metal Detecting Club held an unscheduled club hunt approximately two weeks ago and recovered a lot of really interesting finds. Over 60 people participated in this private property search. Coins and historic tokens were found along with a variety of other items. Several of the items were donated to the land owners for a future display. I want to thank all of you for representing the club professionally and let you know that the property owners were well pleased with the way the entire event was conducted. Hat s off to Jim Fielding for putting this all together. May 2017 We are in need of a few new volunteers to step up and help out the CFMDC. We need someone to take over the tracking of points for the finds tables. This requires making sure every vote is recorded and proper credit is given to each member participating. We also will be in need of someone to take the lead in making sure refreshments and drinks are at the meeting each month. The club can pay for the drinks but someone needs to handle bringing them. Carolyn Harwick has agreed to host the next club hunt as Huntmaster. This hunt will be held in Holly Hill on May 20 th. More specific details will be available at the meeting. We will be looking for another Huntmaster volunteer each month to fill this position so start thinking about a new type of hunt that you might like to direct. Don t worry, the board members will be happy to help out with some pointers so that you are not completely on your own (at least for the first time)(lol). If you have a suggestion or want to become a volunteer, please make sure to let one of the board members know. I ll see you at the next meeting. Alan
