Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 1 July 16, 2017 Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady s Apparition at Fatima, Portugal 1917-2017 Fatima is the most prominent approved apparition of the 20th century. We have events each month to help us increase our devotion to Our Lady; to encourage the recitation of the Rosary; to adore our Lord in the Eucharist; to better understand the importance of evangelization; and to grow closer with one another. Those who practice devotion to Our Lady on the 13th of the month between May and October will receive a Plenary Indulgence. The service on July 19th will include a presentation about the statue and the Message of Fatima, The Prayer of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the recitation of the Rosary, Confession for those wishing to receive the Sacrament, and the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This statue reflects the precise instructions of Sister Lucia. Her desire was that the pilgrim image represent Our Lady s position when she revealed herself as the Immaculate Heart to the Shepherds in 1917. The statue is one of two that were blessed in Fatima in 1947, one on May 13 which traveled east and this one on October 13th which traveled west. The purpose is to bring the graces of Fatima and Our Lady s message of hope, peace, and salvation to those many millions of people who may never have an opportunity to make a pilgrimage to Fatima itself.
