President s Welcomee It is again that I greet you in the name of our Awesome and Great God, I say to you as the Apostle Paul expressed to those in Philippi, Grace be unto you, and peace, from f God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I am so humbled and delighted to have my wife by my side on this wonderful and sometimes challenging journey. On behalf of the entire cabinet, we welcome you to the Parent Body s 114th Annual Session, and the 110th Annual Session of our Women s Auxiliary of the Connecticutt State Missionary Baptist Convention, Inc. Our annual sessions mark both the culmination of a year s work and the beginning of another. God has granted us the opportunity to make a difference in our churches and our beloved convention. The benevolent work of the convention is on going throughout the year: One of our highlights was the Hurricane Relief Effort rising $30,000. We thank our Vice President at Large Dr. David Massey for his leadership. Our Women s Auxiliary with their Fashion Share, continues to provide muchh needed items to women in need. Our Foreign Mission Division continues to send Barrels loaded with neededd items for the families and students of the Laura G. Shular Christian School inn Liberia, Africa. Our divisions have been created to gain greater opportunities for participation by our member churches. In addition to our Boise Kimber Christian Leadership school wee now have the Ushers Division, Associate Ministers Division, Laymen s Division, Young Adult Division, Music Division, Liturgical Division, Pastors Division, and Pastors Wives Forum. Our Women s Auxiliary and the Congress of Christian Education continue to be the heartbeat of our Convention. To God be the Glory! Our Affiliated Districts are active and thriving, thank you to our Moderators and the Women District Presidents, congratulations to our Newest Moderator, Pastor Lemuel Blackett of the Levite District Association. I am grateful for all those who work so hard to help us shape, conduct and coordinate our convention. Without them none of this would be possible. Whether this is your first convention or one of many down through the years, it is my hope and sincere prayer that you will find it edifying, exciting, encouraging, informative and inspirational. Yale Divinity School Inclusivit ty Statement By history, intention, and design, the Yale Divinity School community embraces a wide range of Christian traditions. Committed to serving church and world, it also welcomes people of various religious and nonreligious traditions, drawing wide the circle to include myriad perspectives. Seeking to foster the knowledge and love of God through critical engagement with the traditions of the Christian churches,, the Divinity School upholds the value of broad inclusivity and diversity in our academic, worship,, and communal life. We celebrate the fullness of race and color; denominational, political, theological, and cultural difference; the range of expressions of sexual and gender identity; and the varied voices that come with age, life experience, national and community service, and socioeconomic status. In ecumenical conversationn and in the space created that crosses traditionally entrenched positions, profound educational value is gained and diverse perspectives are presented. To this end, we foster inclusivity and diversity through our academic, social, and spiritual practices. At the core of our intention is the deliberate encouragement of conversation across the lines of difference; attention to offering access to all aspects of ourr common life; consistent sensitivity to the uniqueness of each person s background; and particular attentiveness to our words in speech, writing, prayer, and praise. We value the worth and dignity of every member of the Divinity School community, as we build an environment where inclusivity and diversity are central and consistently affirmed.
