BHASKARACHARYA COLLEGE OF APPLIED SCIENCES INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA REPORT The Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2016 in the college premises. All effort was made to spread awareness about the benefits of yoga in life. Many activities were undertaken to this end. These were Banner was prominently displayed at the college gate to spread information about the event in our college. Yoga Practitioners were invited from Bharatiya Yog Sansthan to instruct and guide the participants in performing the asanas and pranayamas. The Yoga protocol provided by the Ministry of AYUSH was adhered to.

Yoga session was followed by a lecture on ' Benefits of Yoga ' and interactive session with the Yoga Practitioners. A set of Yoga protocol CD and booklets were gifted by the Principal of the college Dr Balaram Pani to the library for future reference. NSS student volunteers also participated enthusiastically.

The DVDs of "Yoga @ Work ", Yoga magazine " Yoga Manjari " and refreshments were distributed to all participants after the celebration. Participants showed lot of enthusiasm in the celebration. Pictures of the event are attached.

DAULAT RAM COLLEGE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA REPORT2016-2017 The college NSS volunteers participated in the second International Day of Yoga organized by NSS centre, University of Delhi. Ten NSS volunteers participated in the 3 days long Programme organised by the centre on 16 th,20 th & 21 st june. The volunteers participated in the practice session and yoga practice on second day. One NSS volunteer,gunjan shankwar from the colleg e participated in poster making competition and won first prize.

Institute of Home Economics Second International Yoga Day 21 st June The second international yoga day at IHE started with high energy and enthusiasm. The main activity for the yoga day was the yoga practice on the lines of AYUSH guidelines. The trained yoga instructor, Ms. Bharti was prepared with the yoga protocol. IHE fitness center was used and was neatly laid out with mats and mike for the event. It s a spacious hall with good ventilation. The director of the institute inaugurated the day. She held an interactive dialogue with the student volunteers about yoga. She talked about the importance of Yoga and how it is important for the holistic growth. The need of doing yoga everyday was also reiterated by her. She read out the yoga pledge/prayer and everyone repeated her. After this, Ms. Bharti took charge. She followed the AYUSH protocol and gave individual attention to all the participants. During shavasana, she played music and everyone relaxed. She did all related stretching out yoga too before starting with the asanas. The importance of each yoga was also being indicated by her. Under her guidance, the group also did kapalbhati, pranayam and antari pranayam. The session was closed with the following mantra which we all recited Om, Sarve bhavantu sukhinaḥ,sarve santu nirāmayāḥ Sarve bhadrāṇi paśyantu,mā kashchit duḥkha bhāgbhavet Oṁ Shāntiḥ, Shāntiḥ, Shāntiḥ With lots of student volunteers, faculty as well as the director of the institute was also present for the yoga session. They all were feeling fresh and rejuvenated after the yoga. They gave positive feedback of yoga. After yoga, all the participants indulged in refreshment. IHE also conducted essay writing competition to mark the event. The title was Implications and Importance of Yoga on Youth. Many students participated in it and submitted their ideas, sketching out the importance of yoga for the youth. It was a fruitful and a satisfying day. Everyone went with the hope of practicing yoga on everyday basis.

KAMALA NEHRU COLLEGE, DELHI UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY Date : 21 st June. 2016 Following the International Yoga Day celebrations all around the world, KNC too conducted an event in the college. The NSS and the NCC had an equal hand in conducting and organising the event. KNC witnessed about 70-80 student participants who gathered in college premises at around 6:45 a.m. The instructor was arranged by the NCC unit of the college. The schedule directed by the government of India was strictly followed by the instructor and the students. After allotting the participants their respective places, the event began at 7 a.m. All the participants did their Asanas with a lot of cheerfulness and enthusiasm and they followed the instructions of the instructor obediently. The event went on for an hour and was over by 8 a.m. After the event, the students were thanked for their participation and cooperation and were given refreshments. PRESS RELEASE 21 st June, 2016. Lakshmibai College (University of Delhi) celebrated the 2 nd International Day of Yoga in its college premises on 21 st June, 2016 between 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. The programme was preceded by a oneweek yoga training programme beginning on 14 th June, 2016 in collaboration with Dhyan Yog Foundation and Bharatiya Yog Sansthan. More than 125 people including students, teaching faculty, non teaching staff members, NCC representatives from 7 Delhi Girls Bn. and guests, actively and enthusiastically performed yoga throughout the camp and final performance, inspiring each other to make yoga part of the regular schedule. While emphasizing upon the importance of yoga in our daily life, the session started while following Common Yoga Protocol including Prayer, Loosening practices, Yogasanas, Kapalbhati, Pranayams, Dhyan, Sankalp, Shanti Path and Pledge under the guidance of instructors Mrs. Kavita and Mr. Shivanand Tiwari from Bharatiya Yog Sansthan. Dr. Subbarao (Director, National Youth Project) was the Chief Guest on the occasion who inspired the youth by his exemplary lifestyle and energetic patriotic song, while Mr. Girdhari Lal (Treasurer, Bharatiya Yoga Sansthan) was the Guest of Honour. Guests included representatives of Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, NCC and Gandhi Peace Foundation including Mr. Raj Kumar (Mantri, Ashok Vihar Region), Mr. Vinod Mittal, Mr. Hiralal Kapoor, SM Kalu Kathait, CHM Niranjan and Mr. Narender. Principal, Dr. Pratyush Vatsala, who has been practicing yoga for last 15 years, encouraged the participants by sharing her experience while emphasizing upon the benefits of regular yoga practice in stress management, better mobility, developing peace of mind and healthier lifestyle life and attaining longevity. The best performers of several asanas were also awarded to motivate the learners. The programme was coordinated by the ANO Lt. (Dr.) Seema Kaushik and NSS Coordinator Dr. Sangita Sharma of the college. The programme ended with the pledge to include yoga in one s daily routine like other necessary activities and also inspire others to include yoga in their daily life realizing its importance in our daily life and today work culture.

NSS-LSR Celebrates International Yoga Day Yoga originated in India in the pre-vedic period but it is globally accepted as a spiritual, physical and mental practice transcending all religions. Lady Shri Ram College for Women celebrated International Yoga Day co-organised by NSS, NCC and NSO on June 21st, 2016 in college premises. It saw a turnout of nearly 30 students and faculty members. The event commenced with principal ma am, Dr. Suman Sharma s address which was brimming with encouragement for everyone to inculcate yoga in their daily routines. Dr. Sharma while lauding Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi s efforts in promoting yoga, also shed light on the commendable efforts of Yogacharya BKS Iyengar - who is the founder of the yoga known as Iyengar Yoga' and is - also considered one of the foremost yoga teachers in world. Further, the NSO treasurer, Tanvi Parashar elaborated on the various benefits of yoga; while also elucidating the 8 stages of yoga, namely, Yam, Niyam, Asan, Pranayam, Pratyahar, Dharana, Dugan and Samadhi. The in-housel yoga team came next and informed the participants of the sensations caused by the chanting of Aum on the human body. However, Dr. Sharma clearly stated that chanting Aum was not an obligation and was purely up to the discretion of the individuals. The participants followed a myriad asanas such as taadasaan, Vajrasana, Bhujangasana and Pranamaya among others, as demonstrated by the yoga team. The event came to a close with the chanting of Aum and laughter exercise. The participants were then served nutritious refreshments such as bananas, biscuits, buttermilk and juice. The participants took back a lot of learnings not only on the importance of yoga but also asanas which they can adopt in their daily lives.

2 ND INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA JUNE 21, 2016 MEDITATE, RELAX, REJUVENATE NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME MAITREYI COLLEGE (UNIVERSITY OF DELHI) The Second International Day of Yoga was celebrated on June 21, 2016 by the National Service Scheme unit of Maitreyi College with great enthusiasm. Image 2: Practice session During these sessions the participants were apprised of the concept of yoga and were briefed about its benefits. Various Yoga Asanas and Pranayama as stated in the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) given by the Ministry of AYUSH were practiced. The sessions continued nearly for two hours each day starting from 8 am in the morning and were well attended both by teachers and students alike.

The final event on 21 st June, 2016 began at 8:00 AM in the Amphitheater of the College with a motivating address by the Principal, Dr. Savita Datta. Image 3: The Principal addressing the participants The participants were apprised about the importance of Yoga and the general guidelines for yoga practice were also enumerated. There were a total of fifty six participants including NSS volunteers and teaching faculty. As directed by UGC, CYP was broadly followed during the session. The Yoga session commenced with recitation of a prayer which rejuvenated the souls and left a positive effect on mind, body and soul. This was followed by loosening exercises and different postures of Yogasanas, such as, Taadaasan, Vajrasana, Makaarasana and Shavaasana. Kapalabathi, Bhrahmari Pranayama and Dhyana were also performed.

While the participants were performing these yoga exercises, they were simultaneously briefed about their benefits and the precautions to be observed. They were also advised to practice Yoga on a daily basis for their overall well-being. The Yoga session came to an end with a Sankalpa and Santih patha. MIRANDA HOUSE University of Delhi International Yoga Day 2016 Report Miranda House in congruence with the 2 nd International Yoga Day, acknowledged the due importance of Yoga in human life by organizing two days Yoga Camp i.e. on June 21-22, 2016. The Yoga camp celebration held at Miranda House witnessed an active and enthusiastic participation of the Miranda House students and staff. In the occasion, more than 150 students from NSS, NCC and Sports volunteered to learn and perform Yogasana. There was also active and voluntary participation of Miranda House Principal, teachers, non teaching staff and Hostel staff. The sessions which started at 7.30 am was carried out under the guidance of the yoga instructor of Miranda House, Ms. Alka. All the participants followed the instructions enthusiastically with the objective of incorporating the goodness of Yoga into their own lives. Asanas in standing, sitting as well as laying postures were performed. Pranayam and other breathing exercises were performed followed by the prayer. The session ended with a speech delivered by Ms. Alka about the importance of Yoga and the need of making Yoga a habit.

Second International Yoga Day Rajdhani College (University of Delhi) The second International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st june 2016, in the sports complex of the Rajdhani College, to bring peace, happiness, harmony and success to every soul in the world. This was a great opportunity to imbibe the value of discipline. The campus community including students, staff and faculty participated in this event. The event started at 7:00 am in the morning. Yoga is a mental, physical and spirtual practice that needs to be carried out every day. Students, Teachers and the members from non teaching staff got the chance to know how yoga embodies unity of mind, body and soul. Yoga strengthens the immune system and does the internal cleansing of blood, veins and arteries. It brings a divine glow on the face and makes us wise. Dr Sanjay Malhotra, Principal, Rajdhani College, emphasized on the importance of the day. He stressed on the need of practicing yoga and incorporate yoga as a way of life. Yoga Instructor, Mr. Malik, from Bhartiya Yoga Sansthaan, briefed us that there is a simple way called "Yoga" through which we can make our life healthy and perfect. He also briefed about benefits of yoga like: weight loss, a strong and flexible body, perfect mind and a good health. This is a practice of different body postures, "ASANAS" which helps a lot to become healthy, fit and fine. Yoga can remove the stress and depression from human mind and result in to better health and a better mood. The students with the teachers and the members of non teaching staff performed yoga between 7:00 am to 8:00 am. Different yoga postures like Vrikshasana, Trikonaasana, Bhadrasana, Bhujangasana, Taadasana, Pawanmuktaasana, shashankaasana, finally ended with Pranayama and meditation. Prayers were recited before and after the programme. Heart felt thanks to our Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi for giving an opportunity to celebrate the International Yoga Day. The College is also thankful to University of Delhi. At the end of the auspicious session of "International Yoga Day", everybody took a pledge to include yoga in one's daily routine like other necessary activities and also inspire others to include Yoga in their daily life.

International yoga day was celebrated on 21st june 2016 to bring peace, harmony, health and success in life of every person present there. We took it as a great opportunity to imbibe value of discipline. Participants got the chance to Know how yoga embodies unity of mind and body. They performed yoga between 8 Am and 9 AM. Different yoga postures like Vrikshasana, Uttaanaasana, Trikonaasana, Bhadrasana, Shashankaasana, Bhujangasana, Pawana Muktaasana were performed, it finally ended with Pranayama and meditation. Prayers were recited before and after the programme. Refreshments were served to all the participants which included an energy drink and a sandwich. A total of 47 students participated in This event. We re thankful for such a great initiative! YOGA IS THE JOURNEY OF THE SELF, THROUGH THE SELF, TO THE SELF!

2nd International Yoga Day 21June, 2016 SGND KHALSA COLLEGE REPORT Yoga is the most favourable method to connect to the nature by balancing the mindbody connection. It is a type of exercise which performed through the balanced body and need to get control over diet, breathing, and physical postures. It is associated with the meditation of body and mind through the relaxation of body. It is very useful to control over mind and body as well as getting proper health of body and mind by reducing the stress and anxiety. To spread awareness about the relevance of Yoga in our lives, NSS UNIT of SGND KHALSA COLLEGE, along with the teaching and non teaching staff celebrated the 2nd International Yoga Day. The Yoga session, which lasted for almost two hours, was instructed by the well known yoga practitioners and yoga teachers from Bharatiya Yoga Sansthan, Yogashram Evan Anusandhan Kendra, Kirti Nagar. The Yoga teachers, Mr. Anil Lamba, Mrs. Shashi Lamba along with their nine year old grandson, Master Mahir Lamba, and Mrs. Indira Sethi instructed various Yoga asanas to a group of more than seventy teaching and non teaching staff members. The event started with the College Principal, Dr. Man Mohan Kaur and the Vice Principal, Dr. Davinder Chawla welcoming the guests. The Yoga program started with recitation of 'Om' and Gayathri Mantra followed by a lecture by Mr. Lamba on the need and relevance of yoga in our modern stressful lives. It was followed by a session conducted by him, Mrs Lamba and Mrs Sethi, wherein they guided the audience with the Yoga asanas like shava asana, yoga nidra, Ushtrasana, Shalabhasana, padmasana, pavanmukta asana, kapalbhatti, pranayaam, and some deep breathing practice sessions. All three teachers dwelt upon how yoga is a way of better, healthy body and mind. Mr. Lamba, in his well informed lecture along with the practice session elaborated upon the ability of yoga to cure any physical ailment. Mrs Lamba spoke at length about the need to focus on our breathing. Through various breathing exercises and asanas, she made the audience aware about the life force called breath. Mrs Sethi inspired everyone with her very pleasant and smiling persona and spoke about the importance of laughter in removing so many mental and physical blocks and can act as a therapy for all ailments. You Principal, Dr. Man Mohan Kaur, as alwsys, spearheaded the event with her ever enthusiastic attitude to learn and gain something new from it. Infact, she actively performed all the asanas, thereby inspiring both the younger and older colleagues equally. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Principal, Dr. Man Mohan Kaur and the NSS Program Officer, Mrs. Harpreet Bahri Grover.

Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women Report on Celebration of International Yoga Day On 21 June, 2016, the International Yoga Day was celebrated in the college with great enthusiasm. Sixty students, Principal and staff (Teaching and Non Teaching) participated in the main function which had the following events: A. Yoga session was carried out by students and staff under the guidance of yoga expert Mr. Ashish Singh for 45 minutes in which the common yoga protocol as provided by Ministry of AYUSH was followed. Prior to this day, a week long yoga camp for about 50 participants had been organised in the college for students and staff. B. International Yoga Day NSS unit of ZHDC celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21, 2016. The session which commenced at 07:00 a.m. observed welcome address from the Principal, Dr. R. Prabhakar Rao. He highlight the significance of yoga in day to day life to around 100 NSS volunteers along with teaching and non teaching staff members. The session was conducted by a trained yoga instructor, Mr. Bharat Bhushan, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, ZHDC. He demonstrated the yoga exercises for dealing with day to day health issues. Detailing the benefits of these exercises in day to day life, he made participants aware of contribution of yoga towards a healthy Life.
