MU S I C The Choir and the Academy of Ancient Music open the Cambridge Festival on Wednesday 11 November with a performance of Haydn The Creation, marking the 200th anniversary of the composer s birth. Sir David Willcocks (KC 1939), formerly Organ Scholar and Director of Music, will be 90 in December, and the inclusion of some of his compositions in the repertoire for this term marks the beginning of the College s celebrations of his birthday. On Saturday 21 November, the eve of the Feast of Christ the King, the first performance will be given of Anthem for Christ the King, the latest in a sequence of anthems by David Goode (KC 1991), formerly organ scholar, which set texts for important liturgical feasts specially written by Francis Warner. The College s resident string quartet, the Dante Quartet, will coach and lead an orchestral ensemble for the liturgical performance of Duruflé Requiem on Remembrance Sunday, 8 November. [ 3 ]
