Group Assignments on Psalm 32 Group 1. Read Psalm 32:1-2. The psalmist talked about being blessed as one s sins are forgiven. Review the following verses: Romans 3:23; 6:23; 5:8; 10:9-10. (a) Using these verses, develop an outline for having sins forgiven. (b) In what ways do we feel blessed by having our sins forgiven? Group 2. Read Psalm 32:3-7. The psalmist contrasted covering up his sin and confessing his sin. (a) Why is sin such a hard subject to talk about? Why do so many people ignore their sin? What are the results of covering up one s sins? (b) Read 1 John 1:8-9. How does a Christian practically confess his or her sin to God? How often do we need to do this? (c) After confessing, the psalmist talked about how good it is to have one s sins forgiven. What are the results of confessing sins? Group 3. Read Psalm 32:8-11. (a) How did you learn what sin was? How did you learn your sin could be forgiven? If you are parents, how did (or will) you teach this truth to your children? (b) Many in our world would rather remain silent or ignore the consequences of sin. What are some of the consequences of sin? Choose a sin (like stealing at work, or adultery) and discuss the consequences of that particular sin. (c) Finally, if we ask Jesus to forgive our sin, what happens both while we re living and after we die? Item Four, For Lesson Six, Teaching Plan Varied Learning Activities, Step 4, Group Assignments on Psalm 32

Group Assignments on Psalm 34 Group I. Glorify the Lord (34:1-3). Find words and verses that seem to brag on God. Using the Study Guide or a dictionary (possibly on-line with cell phones or tablets), define or describe each of these words. Brainstorm what Jesus has done about which you and your group can brag on God. Choose your top five reasons to present to the class. Group II. Seek the Lord (34:4-7). Find evidence in these verses that God truly desires for us to discover and know him. Identify ways God has revealed himself to you in your Christian journey. What are some reasons people today think that God is hiding from them? How would you respond to someone who says God cannot be found? Group III. Fear the Lord (34:8-14). Discuss what you think it means to fear the Lord. (Use your Study Guide to check or add to your answers.) What do verses 13-14 indicate about fearing the Lord? How do we teach children and others to fear the Lord? How did others teach you this concept? Group IV. Honor the Lord (34:15-22). What does God say he will do for the righteous? Verse 20 says that God will protect them, and yet verse 19 indicates the righteous will have many troubles (NIV84). How do you make sense of these two verses? (Use the Study Guide for assistance if needed.) How have you seen God protect you in the past? How has God helped you grow through a difficult time? Marlon s Story My name is Marlon, and I have been saved by my Lord Jesus Christ. When I say, saved you need to understand what I mean. I know that when I die, I will be with Jesus in heaven, but Jesus saved me from myself. I am alive today because of him. Before I trusted Christ I tried everything. I have broken every one of the Ten Commandments, and I am addicted to drugs, booze, sex, and just about everything else you can imagine. I would get clean and fall back into addiction. I d make promises to my family and then break them before the week was out. Even though I am now a Christian, I fight with my personal demons every day. Sometimes my former friends make fun of me and ridicule me for trying to stay sober. It gets hard sometimes, but I am convinced that the only hope I have is to keep praying for strength and to trust Christ to help me overcome the temptations I constantly face. I ve told my friends, and I invite them to join me at church to hear about how Jesus saves. I know I have been saved by Jesus for eternity, and from everything that tries to pull me back into my old life. Praise Jesus.
