BONUS TEACHING HOUR for 3s Pre-K UNIT 2. SESSION 1 Room Your teaching partner(s) Thank you for serving! DATE OF USE Does God Love People? Mark 10:46-52 LIFE POINT God sent Jesus to help people. CHRIST FOCUS We can turn to Jesus for help. LIFE VERSE There is no other God. Isaiah 45:22 BIBLE FUN ACTIVITIES SNACK Chat with the children as they enjoy their snack time. Sit at eye level with them. To get the conversation started, ask about their favorite games, toys, books, or friends. Pay close attention as each child shares details with you. MOVE TO GROUP TIME Mention that at the beginning of today s Bible story, Bartimaeus could not see. Lead the children to walk in pairs to group time. Instruct one child in each pair to close his eyes. Guide the other child to lead him. TALK ABOUT THE BIBLE STORY With your Bible open in your lap to Mark 10, tell the Bible story. Jesus and His disciples were leaving the city of Jericho. A large crowd was following them. As they walked down the road, a blind man named Bartimaeus called out, Jesus, help me! Many people told the man to be quiet, but he kept calling out, Jesus, help me! Jesus stopped and said, Call the man to Me. The people told the man, Jesus is calling for you. Go to Him. So Bartimaeus jumped up and hurried to Jesus. What do you want Me to do for you? Jesus asked Bartimaeus. Teacher, I want to see! Bartimaeus answered. Jesus said to Bartimaeus, Because you believed, you can see. Bartimaeus was able to see and began to follow Jesus. BIBLE STUDIES FOR LIFE 3 S PRE K BTH 17

SING TOGETHER To the tune Mulberry Bush, sing: Jesus did things that I can t do, I can t do, I can t do. Jesus did things that I can t do. He made a blind man see. Jesus did things that I can do, I can, too, I can, too. Jesus did things that I can do. He showed love to others. SAY THE LIFE VERSE Print the Life Verse in large letters on a chalkboard or dry erase board. Say the verse as you touch each word. Lead a child to point to each word as everyone else says the verse. Repeat with several volunteers. PRAY Pray, thanking God for Jesus. Thank Him that Jesus helped people who were sick. BIBLE LEARNING ACTIVITIES Show the children the location in the Bible of today s Life Verse and Bible story. Review the Life Verse and Bible story with each group of children as they work in an activity area. A. Make a favorite colors mural. Tape a long sheet of paper to the wall. Lead the kids to choose crayons and markers that are their favorite colors. Invite them to use these crayons and markers to draw and decorate the mural. Tell the Bible story as they work. Mention that Bartimaeus could enjoy seeing beautiful colors after Jesus made his eyes well. B. Create an obstacle course. Use items in the room such as wooden blocks, tables, chairs, yarn, or tape. As the boys and girls design and try out the obstacle course, talk about the importance of seeing the obstacles. Remark that the man in today s Bible story had to feel any obstacles in his path because he could not see. Open your Bible and tell today s Bible story in your own words. C. Care for a doll. Tear strips of masking tape to make pretend bandages and place them near the doll. (Store strips on waxed paper, if available.) Talk about ways parents help their children when they are sick. Tell the Bible story about the man who could not see. D. Move to music. Play music selections from a CD. Encourage the kids to close their eyes and listen to the music. Talk about Bartimaeus, who could not see but who listened to what was around him. Play the music again and suggest moving in place in time to the music. CLEAN UP Give children plenty of notice that it is almost time to clean the room so that they can finish their activities. PLAY A GUESSING GAME Place various items from the room (such as a wooden block, a book, a crayon, a toy car, and a glue stick) in a paper bag. Invite the children to take turns identifying any item, using their sense of touch. They can pull the item out of the bag to check their guess. DISMISS Send today s Kids Activity Page home with parents, along with any art the children made. Call attention to the One Conversation side of the Kids Activity Page. Remind the parents that this page is especially for them to use this week for family Bible study. 18- BTH SESSION 1.

TALK ABOUT THE BIBLE STORY Tell the children to listen carefully to the story for how God helped the people. Pharaoh called Moses and told him to lead his people away from Egypt. The people had been slaves of the pharaoh for over 400 years. Moses told the people to get ready to leave. They asked the Egyptians to give them gold and silver jewelry and clothing. They took their families and animals and traveled away from Egypt. Moses told the people, Remember this day. Today God has brought you out of Egypt. Tell your children so they will remember what God has done for us today. God led Moses and the people to the Red Sea. The people camped there as God told them. The people saw the Egyptians coming after them. Do not be afraid, Moses told them. God will save us. God spoke to Moses and told him to stretch out his arm with his sta over the water of the Red Sea. The sea divided into two walls of water. The people were able to cross the sea on dry ground. God had saved the people. BIBLE STUDIES FOR LIFE 3 S PRE K BTH 19

BONUS TEACHING HOUR for 3s Pre-K UNIT 2. SESSION 4 Room Your teaching partner(s) Thank you for serving! DATE OF USE Who Gave Us the Bible? Jeremiah 36 LIFE POINT The Bible is God s Word. CHRIST FOCUS The Bible is the story of Jesus. LIFE VERSE There is no other God. Isaiah 45:22 BIBLE FUN ACTIVITIES SNACK Remind the kids to wash their hands. As they eat their snacks, pray and thank God for the Bible. MOVE TO GROUP TIME Lead the kids to pretend to write on a scroll as they walk to group time. TALK ABOUT THE BIBLE STORY Open your Bible to Jeremiah 36 and tell the story. Jeremiah was a prophet who told people about God. One day, God spoke to Jeremiah. Write the words I have spoken to you on a scroll. I want the people to read the words and remember Me. Jeremiah called his friend Baruch to write the words on the scroll as he told him what to write. These are the words God spoke to me, Jeremiah said. Baruch wrote all the words on the scroll. When they were finished, Jeremiah sent Baruch to the temple to read the scroll to the people. Later Baruch was called to read the scroll to the king s oÿ cials. The king did not like to hear what was written on the scroll. The king cut the scroll with a knife and threw the pieces into the fire. The whole scroll was burned up. God said to Jeremiah, Take another scroll and write all the words I said before. Jeremiah called Baruch and told him to again write down the words God told him. He wrote all the words that he had written before and more words God had spoken. Today the words God spoke to Jeremiah are part of our Bible. BIBLE STUDIES FOR LIFE 3 S PRE K BTH 23

SING TOGETHER Using the tune Wheels on the Bus, sing: God told Jeremiah, Write My words. Write My words. Write My words. God told Jeremiah, Write My words. Write on a Bible scroll. BONUS TEACHING HOUR for 3s Pre-K UNIT 2. SESSION 6 Room Your teaching partner(s) Thank you for serving! DATE OF USE What Is Sin? Genesis 2:15 3:24 LIFE POINT God wants us to obey Him. CHRIST FOCUS Jesus wants us to do what is right. LIFE VERSE I will do what God says. Psalm 119:34 BIBLE FUN ACTIVITIES SNACK Thank the children for washing their hands before the snack. Ask for two volunteers to distribute the plates and napkins. After giving out the snack, say a thank-you prayer. MOVE TO GROUP TIME After cleaning up, comment that the Bible story today tells about God creating people. Lead the kids to go to group time to learn about the first family. TALK ABOUT THE BIBLE STORY Tell the children that God made the first man and the first woman. The Bible tells us God planned for them to be a family. God made a man and woman. The man was named Adam, and the woman was named Eve. Adam and Eve lived in a beautiful garden. God told the man and woman to take care of the garden. God said, You may eat any of the fruit of this garden except from this one tree in the middle of the garden. Do not eat from this tree. It is a wrong choice. One day Eve was in the middle of the garden. Eve chose to eat the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden. Then she o ered some to Adam. He also ate the fruit. Adam and Eve disobeyed God. Disobeying God is sin. God was unhappy when He learned that Adam and Eve disobeyed Him. He made Adam and Eve leave the beautiful garden.
