Afterwards, children will have an opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny! Don t forget to bring your camera! HISTORY OF THE EASTER EGG - The Easter Egg is a symbol of creation and new life. The hard shell of the egg is broken open so that new life can emerge, as was the stone of the tomb when Jesus rose from the dead on the third day. Decorating eggs for Easter is a tradition that dates back to at least the 13th century. One explanation is that eggs were not eaten during the Lenten season, so eggs were painted and decorated to mark the end of penance and fasting. The eggs were then eaten on Easter as a celebration!
