The CBC The Newsletter of Crowfield Baptist Church Volume XXVIII May 2018 Number 5 Vacation Bible School June 11 - June 15 9:00 a.m. - 12:25 p.m. For children age 5 by September 1, 2017 through Grade 6 Kids, it s time for the big game and God has given you His ultimate playbook. You will learn that the goal is not competing in your own strength because God has already equipped you with everything you need! He wants you to join His team, train hard, celebrate salvation, and encourage one another. Each day you will make crafts, play fun games, enjoy tasty snacks, sing cool songs, and learn about missions. Registration will be during the month of May. Forms will be available at the Welcome Centers. Registration can also be done through our website: www.crowfieldbaptist.org (go to Children s Ministry page and click the link.) Get in the spirit today! Our purpose is to promote Christ-centered and healthy families in our community through flexible and innovative ministries which effectively evangelize, disciple, and encourage them in a context that is both biblical and relevant to the lifestyles of people today.

Worship & Administrative by Gary Fabian, Worship and Administration Pastor Administratively Speaking Pictorial Directories Hopefully by now you have secured your reservation to be photographed for our upcoming. All photography sessions should be completed by Monday, May 7. All church members, active and inactive, who are photographed will get a free 8x10 photo and a complimentary. Extra Directories for folks not photographed will not be available. Also, those in the Directory will receive a web link to view the directory online. The you will receive will be slightly different from years past. First of all, there will be no activity pages, only a staff picture page, a family portrait section, and a membership roster. Secondly, the size of the directory will be smaller and easier to carry. For some, it will fit nicely inside your Bible. But I imagine most of us will carry the electronic version on our phones or tablets. Either way, you ll be able to access your directory easier and faster than ever before. Delivery of the Pictorial Directories should take about six to eight weeks after the final portrait session. Presented by our Senior Pastor, the class answers these important questions: How can I know if I am a Christian? What does CBC believe? What does church membership mean? Successful completion of the Newcomer s Class is a requirement for joining our church for persons ages 16 and over. Successful completion requires that you attend at least three of the four sessions. If you are not a member of our church and would like to take the class to learn more about CBC, you will not be pressured in any way to join our church. To participate, please call the Church Office (843.569.6745, x 10) or mark the connection sheet in the Sunday bulletin.

Love and Grace Andy Anderson, Youth and Children s Pastor 8 Things a Volunteer Should Remember Preschool / Children / Preteen / Youth I am so very thankful for all our volunteers serving in the above ministries. This letter/article may have comments that draws your focus to one specific area of our ministry, but remember we are all are valuable to God s work in the life of His church. Each of our volunteers are loved, cherished and most appreciated. 1. Remember, your ministry flows from your relationship with Jesus. Everything you do, from teaching Bible lessons to preparing snacks for toddlers, should flow from your relationship with Jesus. Spending time in the Word, being a part of a small group, and attending big church are important for your spiritual walk. If you want to learn more about how to have a growing and vibrant relationship with Jesus, please see me and I will be more than happy to serve you. 2. Remember, you are not a babysitter. I know sometimes it may feel like it, but you are so much more than a Sunday morning babysitter! As a volunteer, you are planting seeds of the gospel in the hearts and minds of children with every song you sing, game you play, and snack you give. Every gospel-centered conversation you have with a little one is bursting with opportunity to be used by God in the life of a child. Parents appreciate your service more than you can even imagine. The ability to attend a church service without distraction and with peace of mind that their child is well taken care of is a gift, and they are very thankful. 3 We want you to serve where you will thrive. We want you to love volunteering at our church, and especially in Preschool, Children, Preteen, and Youth Ministry! No matter your spiritual gift and talents there is a place for you in ministry. No matter your passion or comfort level around students of all ages, there is a place for you here. Wherever you serve, whether with the babies, toddlers, young children, older children, teenagers or behind the scenes, we want you to love where you are serving. If you are already serving and think that there might be a better fit for your gifts in another area of ministry, please let me know and we can have a meaningful conversation about how God is using you. 4. The children look forward to seeing you each week. The children in your class talk with their parents all week long about the Gospel lessons you taught them. They look forward to your warm welcome, fun games, spirited songs, and life giving lessons each week. Be encouraged you are loved! 5. We want to know what is going on in your life. If you are in the middle of a hard season, I want to know! I want to pray for you, minister to you, encourage you, and be there for you. If life is going well for you, Praise God! I want to know that too. The Children and Youth s Ministry here is a family, we bear each other s burdens and rejoice in each other s joys. We can t do that, however, if we don t know what s going on in your life. Please always feel welcome to send me a prayer request. I know I look busy on Sunday mornings, but drop me an email, and I will connect with you during the week! Continued on page 4 3

Love and Grace.... continued from page 3 6. If you have a question ask! One of the most important things we can do for you is to make sure that you have everything you need to serve in ministry. If there is something you need to enhance your ministry, please let me know. If you have a question about anything, or if you see something that you don t understand, please feel comfortable talking with me. I want to be a resource for you as you carry out your ministry at this church. 7. What you do is important to the overall vision and mission of the church. Your ministry in this church is so very important. This church could not fulfill its mission and vision without your sacrificial and loving ministry to children and families. Know that the leadership of this church appreciates your service and so do I. 8. God sees your acts of service. Hebrews 6:10 says, God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. God sees your service in Preschool, Children, Preteen and Youth Ministry. He remembers it, and your service here is showing Him love. My friends, it is a privilege to serve alongside each of you. I count it all joy and remember, you are not only making a difference, you are the difference. Remember your C s while serving in the Preschool Ministry. The C s are designed to help all of us remember the importance of arriving on time and ready to serve. Courtesy Respect those who are currently serving that Sunday and anticipating your arrival. Communication Allows time to share important information regarding the care of all children. Consistency Helps all volunteers to want to serve and continue to serve. Thanks for arriving on time! 9:15 A.M. Sunday Morning (Sunday School) 10:45 A.M. Extended Session 4
