Copy Editor Volunteer Position Description The Copy Editor is responsible for assisting the Girl Scouts of Central California South council with editing grants, reports, web copy, and other documents according to Girl Scouts national branding guidelines. Qualifications: A self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational abilities with attention to detail. A team player and team leader. Strong writing and editing skills. Introduction college writing courses Access to Microsoft word or Google Docs Service Commitment: Director of Marketing and Communications will appoint the Marketing and Communications Volunteer for a six-month renewable term in which she/he can expect to provide a minimum of f i v e hours of service weekly, depending on the needs of the department. (Some volunteers may choose to take on additional roles within the Council, which can increase the hours of service.) Supervision and Support: The Marketing and Communications Volunteer is supported by and accountable to the Director of Marketing and Communication and Girl Scouts of Central California South. Work with all departments Create fact sheets for staff (ie. Grammar cheat sheets, etc.) Other duties as assigned to meet the organizational goals Expectations: Uphold The Girl Scout Promise; The Girl Scout Law; Girl Scout Mission statement and GSUSA s Organization-Wide Competencies. Comply with GSUSA Policies, Standards and Guidelines, GSCCS Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, GSCCS Policies and Operational Procedures. Commit time, energy, passion and interest necessary to meet the requirements of the position. Perform all duties in a timely manner. Compile and report all relevant information to assigned volunteer or Council department (such as rosters, evaluations, issues). Support the Council s Culture of Philanthropy. Acquire information needed to perform duties: i.e. training/updates, roundtables, forums, meetings, training, conference calls, etc. Meet with staff advisor and volunteer supervisor to outline and establish ways of work for accomplishing tasks. Requirements: Clearance of background check. Become/remain a registered GSUSA member. Remain in good standing with the Girl Scouts of Central California South Council. Ability to work with girls or adults from all ethnic, racial, economic and cultural backgrounds. Represent Girl Scouting in a professional and enthusiastic manner to girls, adults and the community. Possess good verbal and written communication skills. Must have the following skills: Computer skill knowledge of Word; must be an excellent writer and proofreader. Understand that this position is voluntary and that no payment is provided for this service. Create a welcoming atmosphere, so that girls and adults from varied social, cultural, ethnic and economic background in the community are represented and have a voice. Maintain GSCCS confidentiality standards.
