Canon William Avis, Administrator of Holy Family Parish and Rector of St. Gianna Oratory Cell: (520) 303-8859 Abbé Matthew O Hora, Oblate Visit our U.S. Website: www.institute-christ-king.org International website: www.icrsp.org After spending three years in the Arizona desert, Abbé Matthew O Hora will be going off to the Great Lakes. On October 12th he leaves for his new assignment in Green Bay, Wisconsin. To say good-bye and thank you for his hard work for Holy Family Parish and St. Gianna Oratory, there will be a farewell social in the church basement on Sunday, October 8th at 12:30pm. The World Apostolate of Fatima's Centennial U.S. Tour for Peace is underway and coming to our parish! The historic tour, marking the 100th Anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady at Fatima, will feature the worldfamous International Pilgrim Virgin Statue, traveling worldwide for nearly 70 years. St. Gianna Oratory/Holy Family Parish, Tucson, is hosting the tour on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 8:00am to 8:00pm. It will be an extraordinary occasion of healing, hope and grace. Please join us that day to hear the story of Fatima and venerate this beautiful statue that set out from Fatima in 1947 to bring the graces of Fatima to all who might not ever be able to make a pilgrimage to Fatima, Portugal. We bring the pilgrimage to you! Hundreds of favors and graces, including cures, and countless conversions are associated with the image. The presence of this special Statue (sculpted by Jose Thedim in 1947, based on Sr. Lucia's description of her encounters with Our Lady) is a great gift to our community. Contact Abbe Matthew O'Hora, ICRSS on (520) 883-4360 for more information. Learn more about the tour and the statue at www.fatimatourforpeace.com. Copies of the Schedule for the day can be found at the back of the Church! How beautiful is the family that recites the Rosary every evening!~st. John Paul II

Through the same Christ our Lord Amen. The CONFRATERNITY OF THE MOST HOLY ROSARY The Rosary Confraternity is a spiritual association of the Catholic Church, the members of which strive to pray the entire Rosary (15 decades) during the course of each week. They form a union of countless hundreds of thousands of the faithful throughout the world who, along with their own intentions, include the intentions and needs of all its members, while they in turn pray for them. As Pope Leo XIII said in his apostolic constitution on the Confraternity, "whenever a person fulfills his obligation of reciting the Rosary according to the rule of the Confraternity, he includes in his intentions all its members, and they in turn render him the same service many times over." (Ubi Primum (1898), n1) Each member includes deceased fellow members as well; and thus he knows that in turn he will be included in the prayers of hundreds of thousands both now and hereafter. This led the Cure of Ars to say: "If anyone has the happiness of being in the Confraternity of the Rosary, he has in all corners of the world brothers and sisters who pray for him." Those who pray the Rosary regularly would do well to be enrolled in the Confraternity to gain extra spiritual benefits for each Rosary they pray. One can enroll by writing to The Rosary Center, PO Box 3617, Portland, OR 97208, USA or visiting www.rosary-center.org

Consider your own past life. Say, "Lord, what was I thinking of when I was not thinking of You? Whom did I love when I was not loving You? I should have fed upon the truth, but I glutted myself with vanity and served the world instead of serving the truth." (INT. Part I, Ch. 10; O. III, p. 37) Arizona Rosary Celebration The annual Arizona Rosary celebration will take place on Saturday, October 21st at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church from 10:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Volunteers are needed to represent Holy Family Parish in this public devotion to the Holy Rosary. ALLELUIA: Alleluia, alleluia. The solemn festival of the glorious Virgin Mary of the seed of Abraham, sprung from the tribe of Juda, of David s royal race. Alleluia. External Solemnity of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary INTROIT: Ps. 44: 2 Let us all rejoice in the Lord, celebrating a festival day in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, on whose solemnity the Angels rejoice and give praise to the Son of God. (Ps) My heart hath uttered a good word: I speak my works to the King. Glory be. Let us all rejoice... COLLECT: O God, Whose only-begotten Son by His life, death, and resurrection, purchased for us the rewards of eternal life: grant, we beseech Thee, that, meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise. Through the same Christ Our Lord. COLLECT (17th Sunday after Pentecost): Grant, we beseech Thee, O Lord, that Thy people may avoid the temptations of the devil, and with pure minds follow Thee, the only God. Through Our Lord. EPISTLE: Prov. 8: 22-24, 32-35 A reading from the Book of Proverbs The Lord possessed me in the beginning of His ways, before He made anything, from the beginning. I was set up from eternity and of old, before the earth was made. The depths were not as yet, and I was already conceived. Now therefore, ye children, hear me: Blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, and that watcheth daily at my gates, and waiteth at the posts of my doors. He that shall find me, shall find life, and shall have salvation from the Lord. GRADUAL: Ps. 44: 5, 11, 12 Because of truth, and meekness, and justice: and thy right hand shall conduct thee wonderfully. Hearken, O daughter, and see, and incline thine ear, for the King hath greatly desired thy beauty. GOSPEL: Lk. 1: 26-38 +Continuation of the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke At that time the Angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin, espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin s name was Mary. And the Angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace: the Lord is with thee: blessed are thou among women. Who having heard, was troubled at his saying: and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be. And the Angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God: behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God shall give unto Him the throne of David His father: and He shall reign in the house of Jacob for ever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end. And Mary said to the Angel: How shall this be done, because I know not man? And the Angel answering, said to her: The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee. And therefore also the Holy which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. And behold thy cousin Elizabeth, she also hath conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her that is called barren: because no word shall be impossible with God. And Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done to me according to thy word. OFFERTORY: Ecclus. 24: 25; 39: 17 In me is all grace of the way and of the truth; in me is all hope of life and of virtue. Like a rose planted on the rivers I have borne fruit. SECRET: Enable us, we beseech Thee, O Lord, to be fittingly prepared for offering these gifts, and through the mysteries of the most holy Rosary, so to meditate upon the life, Passion, and glory of Thine onlybegotten Son, that we may be made worthy of His promises: Who with Thee liveth and reignest.

SECRET (20th Sunday after Pentecost): O Lord, we humbly pray Thy majesty that the holy rite which we are celebrating may free us from past and future sins. Through Our Lord. COMMUNION: Ecclus. 39: 19 Send forth flowers as the lily, and yield a smell, and bring forth leaves in grace, and praise with canticles, and bless the Lord in His works. POSTCOMMUNION: May we be helped, we beseech Thee, O Lord, by the prayers of Thy most holy Mother, whose Rosary we celebrate: that we may draw strength from the mysteries which we commemorate, and likewise obtain the fruit of the Sacraments which we have received: Who livest... POSTCOMMUNION (20th Sunday after Penetcost): By the workings of Thy sanctifying power, almighty God, may our vices be cured and eternal remedies provided for us. Through Our Lord. LAST GOSPEL: Mt. 22: 34-46 At that time, the Pharisees came to Jesus and one of them, a doctor of the Law, putting Him to the test, asked Him, Master, which is the great commandment in the Law? Jesus said to him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with thy whole heart, and with thy whole soul, and with thy whole mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And the second is like it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets. Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus questioned them, saying, What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is He? They said to Him, David s. He said to them, How then does David in the spirit call Him Lord, saying, The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at My right hand, till I make Thy enemies Thy footstool? If David, therefore, calls Him Lord, how is He his son? And no one could answer Him a word; neither did anyone dare from that day forth to ask Him any more questions. THANKSGIVING PRAYERS AF- TER HOLY COMMUNION Obsecro Te I beseech Thee, most sweet Lord Jesus, let Thy Passion be to me strength, to guard me, protect me, and defend me; Thy wounds my meat and drink, to feed me, inebriate me, and delight me; the sprinkling of Thy Blood on me the cleansing away of all faults; and Thy Death my everlasting glory. In these be my food, my rejoicing, my health, the sweetness of my heart. Who livest and reignest for ever and ever. Amen. Anima Christi Soul of Christ, be my sanctification; Body of Christ, be my salvation; Blood of Christ, fill all my veins; Water of Christ's side, wash out my stains; Passion of Christ, my comfort be; O good Jesus, listen to me; In Thy wounds I fain would hide, Ne'er to be parted from Thy side; Guard me, should the foe assail me; Call me when my life shall fail me; Bid me come to Thee above, With Thy saints to sing Thy love World without end. Amen. Litany to Our Lady of Fatima Our Lady of Fatima, pray for our dear country. Our Lady of Fatima, sanctify our clergy. Our Lady of Fatima, make our Catholics more fervent. Our Lady of Fatima, guide and inspire those who govern us. Our Lady of Fatima, cure the sick who confide in thee. Our Lady of Fatima, console the sorrowful who trust in thee. Our Lady of Fatima, obtain for us all that we lovingly ask of thee. Our Lady of Fatima, help those who are dear to us. Our Lady of Fatima, bring back to the right road our erring brothers. Our Lady of Fatima, give us back our ancient fervour. Our Lady of Fatima, obtain for us pardon of our manifold sins and offences. Our Lady of Fatima, bring all men to the feet of thy Divine Child. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
